Spice Mix Restaurant reviews
48Always the best fresh Indian food @ Spice Mix. The whole team is amazingly friendly. Thank you all for the service and scrumptious foods as always. Lamb korma is always spot on. Tried the Nepalese lamb and it was very delicious. Garlic naan always fresh. Barramundi (with bones) was really yummy. Definitely looking forward to Spice Mix again and highly recommend.
Great little Halal place at the heart of Brunswick! Mainly a nepalese restaurant- however plenty of other Bangladeshi/ Indian options. We have been to this place few times and it never disappoints. The head chef and owner Promod was very friendly. He ensures everyone is happy with the food and takes great pride in his restaurant. A must visit for anyone looking for indian/ nepalese cuisine. Open late night.menu is full Halal.
This place came highly recommended but the food was average. There was also a 40+ minute wait on a midweek evening pickup order.
Papdi chaat and naan were nice. Palak paneer had a weird taste (not sure if they used frozen spinach for it) alongside being quite mild despite ordering a medium, and the paneer pieces were broken. Aloo capsicum was bitter but not spicy. Maybe we caught them on an off day.
Food tasted too good. I would definitely recommend to anyone who wants authentic Indian cuisine.
Tried lot of goat and fish across all the Melbourne. I bet this was the best I have ever had. Just like eating foods cooked at home.
Also got to taste my regional food Moringa drumstick (saijan soup)
Would definitely visit again and again.
BEST INDIAN IN BRUNSWICK! This place is amazing, food is delicious and affordable and the service is 10/10! We will be back!
I ordered a hot chicken biryani for me and my friends on the phone for takeout. Unfortunately, the biryani was bland and lacked any flavor. The chicken was dry and overcooked, and the rice was undercooked and mushy. There was also a lack of spices in the biryani, which made it even more bland. I was very disappointed with the biryani, and I would not recommend it to anyone.
Response to owner: I am disappointed that you would resort to personal attacks instead of simply apologizing for the bad experience that I had.
I am not a "shameless" customer who is "extra smart". I am simply a customer who was disappointed with the food that I paid for. I am entitled to my opinion, and I am not going to be silenced by your insults. If you are not willing to accept feedback from your customers, then you should not be in the restaurant business. I suggest that you take some time to reflect on your behavior and apologize to the customers who have had a bad experience at your restaurant.
We enjoyed fabulously friendly hospitality at Spice Mix Restaurant. The food was fresh, tasty and generous. I loved the music/play list from yesteryear. I have passed by this restaurant many times but I will definitely being coming back.
This place has the best Indian food. From A to Z, every dish they serve is amazing. The service is excellent. After renovating and reopening from the unfortunate fire accident, I am so glad that they are back on their feet. A huge shout out to Hari for his amazing persistent over all this time. The food before the accident was also as good.
Very happy that he’s back on his feet now and I would definitely recommend this place for everyone to give a try.
One of the worst Indian curries and desserts I’ve ever had. I’ve been here twice and it’s been consistently terrible. They are certainly hot curries but the high pepper content is reminiscent of hot wings, not spicy curry. Where’s the fresh chilli?
What’s actually fresh?
This tastes only slightly better than a convenience store microwaved curry but worse than a supermarket curry pack.
I don’t know if it’s a difference between night and day service but my visits have been in the evening.
The hospitality is good. They certainly look after you. Can’t say anything bad there.
Have been going to Spice Mix for a few years now, and was devastated when they closed due to a fire. SO HAPPY they’re back open, and making their incredible food again. Best food in Brunswick!
This is a "must go to" restaurant when you are in Melbourne.
The food really tickles your taste buds. You can choose your spice level and even ask for variations. Every dish we ordered came steaming hot and not to mention they were so flavoursome. I am yet to eat Naan with such soft texture.
Chef Hari adds a personal touch with his warmth and hospitality. The staff are also very courteous and welcoming.
The ambience is probably 'a home away from home'.
The menu carries a wide range of dishes that are very reasonably priced.
Spice Mix Restaurant is by far my favourite Indian cusine restaurant in Melbourne. If you are craving Indian food, I highly recommend this restaurant. You will not be disappointed should you pay a visit to it.
This is the Indian restaurant you’re looking for. Best tandoor I’ve ever had in Aus. Mind blown. Sitting in here now. There’s a stream of customers coming in exclaiming how grateful they are that Spice Mix has re-opened after the fire!
Wow! So fresh and flavoursome! I was keen to try a new good Indian place and decided to try Spice Mix and I'm really glad I did. The food was fresh and full of flavour, good meal sizes and atmosphere was great. Owner is very friendly and chatty and seems open to feedback. Definitely will be coming back.
Really, really good food and service. Chef Hari and the kind staff were so warm and welcoming. The place was also very homey. The garlic naan was so soft and flavourful. The lamb biryani, idli sambar, okra masala and chicken momos were incredible as well. Very thankful to God to have found this place.
Edit: Revisited twice again after the restaurant reopened last week. Last week - the staff forgot to bring out the extra naan that we ordered and we had already been waiting for 10 minutes until I asked and unfortunately, had to leave with half-empty stomach (because I was not willing to wait another 5-7 minutes for a naan at 11 in the night). Ok, mistake happens.
Gave it another go today and the curries came out 10-12 minutes prior to the naan/roti. Apparently, there was a small incident in the kitchen which caused the delay but no one came out to apologise for the delay and when they finally brought it out, the curries were already cold.
Also, the female wait staff at the reception clearly ignored me while I was trying to order an extra naan. She looked at me calling her, ignored and sneaked back into the kitchen.
I don't think I will be coming back.
Amazing taste!
We ordered - veg Manchurian, chole bhatura and Schezwan Chicken curry; everything tasted delicious. A must try and value for money.
Keep the good work up, team
Will definitely visit again.
This restaurant is phenomenal. When I first ate here, it was like I was eating Indian food for the first time; nothing I’ve had anywhere else compares. The spices are so fresh and aromatic, every single dish has a real unique flavour and is always served hot, fresh and delicious. The tandoor options are probably my favourite, but the curries are also exceptional. The owner Soni is a real gem who really cares about giving great service and wants everyone who visits to have an exceptional experience. Don’t eat South Asian anywhere else until you come here. It’s just that good.
Best curries I’ve honestly ever had. So glad that Spice Mix re-opened after the long period of closure. When they were closed I fell into a depression and started eating ready-meal curries from Coles. Now that my tastebuds have been reawakened by these delicious Spice Mix curries, I feel a zest for life and am happy again. Thank you for coming back
The best seekh kebab I have ever had in australia. I like the way they use the spice in the food.totally amazing and epitome of deliciousness…
We had very good experience in our first visit. I was very excited and went for 2nd visit for dine in. Lady come and took our order We asked her not to bring food all together. We have been waiting for 25 min to get food and all food come together We lost all our appetite by seeing all foods and couldn’t enjoy the food. Even we ask to hold on the waitress said she can’t do. We were very upset. We had tandoori chicken and taste like off too… I was very disappointed biryani was okay. Never going back. Good luck
