Speakeasy Theatre

Attended The Vaudeville Revue after reading it was one of Melbourne's hottest shows. Advertising for their events on social media suggested it was a step back in time, perhaps reminiscent of Gatsby days. Alas, the experience was rather disappointing. Sadly, the event lacked class and came across as a bit of an 'open mic' night with artists testing material. We also observed a number of people exit during the intermission - the vacant seats very noticeable as it is a small theatre. I recommend more performances like that of the wonderful Valerie Va Va Valentine - who has an engaging stage presence and performance.

Great show! Whisky Falls was a wonderful MC. Loved the variety of performances and the interaction with the audience. The venue is small and intimate, but delightful!

Front of house staff were rude and had attitude, chairs and furniture were really uncomfortable and the venue was grimy and dirty especially the toilets. The actual theatre was boiling hot and it’s only the start of Spring! I would avoid going there during summer. Staff were disorganized and took 20-30 minutes to make one cocktail. Some of the acts were good some not so good. Much better places to go for live entertainment where staff know what customer service is.

We had a fantastic night. This was the highlight of our trip to Melbourne. Beautiful intimate theatre, all staff were so welcoming and friendly. Jack London was absolutely brilliant, the whole is worth seeing just to watch him perform. All the acts from the comedy, circus acts and burlesque dancers were amazing. Support your local theatre company and go. Thanks for a fantastic night. I will definitely go again.

Jack London is an absolute legend. He and his gang of wonderful performers put on a fantastic show. Highly recommended for anyone that's wants a great unique show.

Pretty cool venue putting on an intimate show. It's done on a budget but this aligns with ticket prices. The actors are amazing - Really committed and put on a great show. The drinks are on the high side.

Went in a large group for a birthday and had a fantastic night. Jack was the MC with the mostest. His wit and interaction with the audience was superb. Loved the burlesque, the side show, (especially Babushka) and the fire twirling girl. Comedian was a bit slow with the jokes. Would highly recommend going. Never laughed so much!

Went and seen the vaudeville show Friday night honestly it was excellent the mc was fantastic and my favourite act by far the staff are exceptionaly friendly and welcoming I went with my partner wasn't exactly his cup of tea but I will definitely be visiting again with my girlfriends in the future I 10 out 10 recommend going it's definitely worth it

I went today for a special show containing only burlesque performances. In one word it was exhilarating. This was my first time and I really enjoyed the evening. Everyone at the bar and the desk were so friendly and accomodating. It is highly recommended.

Second visit for us a few years apart! Wasn’t disappointed. Great value, great fun and so many talented performers. Look forward to coming again!

I went here Thursday night for a comedy show, it was so much fun and so entertaining! The venue is adorable and the staff are great:)

Excellent service, cosy intimate space for small shows. We went here on comedy festival and like the place. Will definitely come back as they seems to have good shows all year round

A lovely tempo of show highlighting such a great variety of character and talent to make you smile, laugh, gasp and ooowwh your way through the night. Beautiful intimate setting and Jack London (Nicky Webster look-alike from certain angles uncanny) is the star of the show and sprinkles his magic dust in every introduction of new act. Thoroughly enjoyed highly recommended.

The Vaudeville Review was very underwhelming. We weren’t sure what to expect, but it unfortunately did not meet expectations. The acts were really hit and miss and we ended up leaving before the end of the show. The burlesque dancer was amazing, but the other acts were very amateur. Performers were leaving during the show and just walking through the audience which disrupted the flow of the show. For the price, we expected a much more professional and entertaining show, however understand that this style of performance just wasn’t for us and others enjoyed it! Would not recommend if you’re looking for burlesque or cabaret.
