Stayed 3 nights with two kids. Had to change rooms as the first had a broken/sagged bed, also dirty cup and saucers. We were shown another room that was ok but still not cleaned properly with knicker liner stuck to bathroom door. Rooms are big enough and cosy but you hear all the noise from above rooms esp if kids are running around due to flooring i think. No complimentary water or microwave unlike our other stays on the way here. Breakfast is an extra $30 a head so we skipped that. Parking if at the end like ys is very tight and you need to reverse up the drive to turn. The room we were in is a fair walk from the car and we had stairs going down. Be prepared to lug your gear. The worse thing is the TV.twitches and blacks out on every channel. They tried to fix it but needs a tech. Staff are lovely and overall its an ok stay (considering its older) and is right next to the main attraction, but come prepared.

Service was excellent. Very helpful when I asked for a blanket and how to turn on the radiator and answered all my other questions. Room was very cosy and very warm once I turned on heating and received a blanket. It was nice to have access to make tea and coffee in the very clean room. My only suggestion is to be able to check in from Sovereign Hill as I don't have a car and had to walk all around from a street.

Looks very sterile in the accommodation rooms.
Where are the curtains and dollies, the homely touches to the bedrooms and living rooms?
It's supposed to be based on the Victorian Era, yet I don't see any Victorian decor!

Beautiful property with a lot of history. Staff are well versed with the history surrounding the neighbourhood.
Room quality is very good and cosy. On-site parking helped a lot.

Fantastic show of the aura and fantastic time at the gold mining town, panning for gold ect was fantastic fun, stayed one night rooms looked brilliant, the only let down was the place could do with a proper clean, dust was thick around the skirting that thick you notice it. Same with the bottom of the blinds, you close the curtains and the dust flies everywhere, the white bed sheets and pillowcases had marks/stains on them bit like mascara, bit off putting sleeping in the bed, all the windows were covered in cobwebs you could tell they were old, light fitting in the room were full of dead insects beetles and flies,
it wouldn’t stop me coming again to see the shows but I probably would find somewhere else to stay.

I have to say the worst "hotel" experience I've ever had! To start, as soon as we walked in, killed a massive spider and had to nick a bottle of fly spray as there were several flies lingering. The bunk beds in the rooms squeak as they're metal not wooden. The mattresses are barely mattresses, I've had to take a mattress and double from one of the other beds. ZERO actual amenities, if there is no room service then there should be a microwave in the room considering the Canadian Gully is for families, taking into consideration children and babies that need a microwave for bottles, uneaten food etc. Breakfast was absolutely disgusting! Nothing replenished. No actual food optionS except slop that i think was a tray of eggs, bacon and toast. Overnight, kids screaming, stomping, jumping and slamming doors. Called reception and they apparently called security, security were a no show and this went on until 1am. Came back from sovereign hill and only 1 bed was made, that was it, floor was not vaccuumed, rubbish was not taken, milk was not refreshed in the fridge. This whole experience has been appalling, I will never stay at this "hotel" again ans I urge others to look for other hotels in the area. Photos are misleading

Under the 34 degree day, the receptionist gave us the key that doesnt work, doesnt show us the way to get in the building. Left me and my 2 children under the sun heat. I couldnt open the door to access the building. I came back our to the reception and asked if she can come and help us. She answer in such a bad manner and said to wait. I came out, waited under the sun for so long again. The little one got sun burn even though she has sunscreen on. That shows how hot it was on that day. But the receptionist doesnt care about the kids or the customers in general at all.
The room was good about 4 stars but the attitude of the receptionist is unacceptable. Therefore I only can give 1 star.

Kim. W the receptionist was absolutely amazing! Her kindness and understanding really made our trip fun and relaxing! Kim is a very lovely lady and the list could go on!
So happy and we will be back!
Thanks

Firstly I want to mention that you cannot check into the hotel from inside Sovereign Hill. The map doesn't really make that clear. Check-in was at 2pm, we arrived at Sovereign Hill at 10: 15. There was plenty to do before check-in. We got wristbands for re-entry at the information desk and hiked about 10-15 minutes up Magpie Road until we reached the sign on the left for the Hotel. Obviously if you have a car, it's a short drive. The staff were very friendly and showed us the building where our room was. After checking in, you will get a pass that lets you through a building into the park up to 7pm (about 2 minutes walk). If you're attending Aura, they'll let you hang onto the pass until you check out and the Aura bus drops you back at the hotel after the show. Depending on what type of room you booked, you'll be in a different building. We had booked the governor's room. The room had tea, coffee, biscuits and hot chocolate. There was a kettle and a fridge with some milk. There was a hairdryer, extra towels and blankets in the wardrobe. The bed was very soft, warm and comfortable. Pillows were also soft and comfortable. The bathroom had shampoo, conditioner, hair ties and body wash. Sovereign Hill has free Wi-fi which can be accessed by giving your email. Keep in mind it's an open network. The room had an air-conditioner with a cold setting and there was a wall radiator for heating. I recommend turning this on early to heat up the room. The room was clean and had a really good view. We couldn't hear other guests at all. A buffet breakfast was included with the booking which was really awesome. It included mushrooms, tomatoes, beans, toast, sausages, bacon, fried and poached eggs, yoghurt, fruit and pastries. Drinks were tea, coffee, orange and apple juice.

The room was clean, but for a three night stay with my partner (who booked the room) we would have liked fresh towels, a toaster/ microwave even a breakfast option would have been good. We had to use our little camp stove out on the garden table to heat our meals! The air conditioning worked on cold but not on heating.

Awesome place to stay especially with Sovereign Hill to visit each day, one of my favourite places of all time.
Absolutely love the experience can't get enough of it.

3.5 star motel. Although the hotel is adjacent to Sovereign Hill, entry price is separate but not compulsory and there is no discount or benefit to Sovereign Hill as a guest (except you can go back to motel directly after AURA show without exiting the front entrance).
There is no room service. If you are staying for more than one night, likely you will need to remind the housekeeping to bring you new towels and toiletries.
Room space is generous and have air con and fridge. There is even an iron but unfortunately there is no laundry service or facilities available.
Free wifi is available.
Parking is free.
Not within walkable distance to town or restaurant. You may need a car.
Very clean overall.

Everything great - but the shower recess is the most poorly designed I have ever seen: the placement of the shelf for soap and shampoo is such that it's almost inevtably in your back. Not good at all.

Loved the location and our room. We stayed in the Residence. It was quiet and spacious and the AC worked well. Bed was good. We would stay again.

Beautiful room overlooking the Sovereign Hill Park. Really quiet this school holidays due to travel restrictions. I feel like we are the only ones here as the car park was empty.

Location to Sovereign Hill activites was great, as was the free breakfast. The beds were very uncomfortable. The bunk beds squeaked and groaned with the slightest movement and wobbled. There were only 2 blankets for 4 people and the TV remote did not work so we had to watch ABC Tv at a loud volume or nothing.

Perfect for a weekend getaway! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Most of all the entrance to Sovereign Hill main street was a 2 minute walk from our room. I highly recommend the experience.

This is our third stay and the previous visits were very comfortable. This time it's been very ordinary and not worth the tariff. Room very tired and furniture needs replacing.
Room not serviced for two night stay but nothing provided to wash cups or glasses. School group in accommodation next door making lots of noise both on the grassed area outside and in their rooms. So loud we could hear them in our room. Not our choice to be in the middle of a school camp.
So disappointed, won't be back to stay.
