The principal looks like a zombie. Vice principal looks like a Greek vampire. Head of IT looks like an average American dad. God I miss these days.

PS. Miss HW we love you.

I'm sorry to see so many people reviewing have had bad experiences with this school. Personally, as a student, i found the entire experience fun and exciting. The atmosphere around the grounds is wholesome and the kitchen/garden program is exceptional.
There are certainly some teachers who handled situations very badly, specifically an old woman who doesn't work here anymore who dragged my friend into drama between two kids unwillingly, and read out a private letter that i sent to the entire class without my permission.
But for the few bad teachers there were those great teachers who made primary school a experience positive, and the friendly students in my class who build my childhood.
I think over the recent years the school has opened to a wider variety of students, meaning that the values held by teachers and parents when I was their have probably faltered a bit from the original ones.
Still a lively school with beautiful grounds and wonderful programmes. I definitely recommend.

Yes, I did get bullied once, but to all the past kids that went here, it’s changed. The teachers and students have a great connection with each other. As a grade 6, I can say Southmoor was a great experience. And to those people who say ‘SOutHmOoR iS bORinG aND hArD’ for no good reason, try going to a school in Russia, and you’d change your attitude. Overall a great experience, you should really go there.

So disappointing, the teachers attitude to their students, the rude receptionist and the disorganised school system.
I saw myself that a teacher (K) threw a book at a prep student (it was heartbreaking), she bullied her own students.
The vice principal and principal were not at all helpful and made matters worse.

Our experience is similar to the child abuse issues described by Mandy S. We are aware of several kids getting bullied by a Year 3 teacher in 2013. We took our kids out when we became aware of the situation.

Can't disagree more with the past couple of reviews based on our experiences. Two kids there, nothing but praise for teachers and admin. They have multiple times gone out of their way to help and the two instances we have had with bullying have both been dealt with in a manner way beyond my expectation. In truth, they handled them better than how I would have done it. I've never heard any teacher discuss school rankings or similar! Only praise from us!

Admin places more emphasis on school rankings than the wellbeing and academic outcomes of kids. Discrimination and segregation is rife and bullying is not effectively dealt with (how can it be when management indulge in it themselves). Kids exposed to highly concerning things, including physical abuse that is not disclosed by the school - speak up and you can expect to have the blame shifted to your own child. Still deeply upsets me years later to think about how one child was treated.

What Eric said is so true, the attitude of receptionist is so rude, and, the conversation was more like she was quiet and i keep asking, and there no useful information provided at all! Bad attitude. Can't believe how they throw book to prep kids. Those educators must insane! FIRE THE RECEPTION ADIMIN PLEASE! IF ANY MANAGER CAN SEE OUR COMMENTS, SUCH A GOOD SUGGESTION!

Inept, disorganised and lazy administration. Some great new buildings but admin rotten from the reception area, right to the top of the tree. Emails ignored, phone calls dismissed - all just a bit too hard for this school. Sitting children OUT of Naplan testing was the final straw for me. Go elsewhere!

As a previous student at Southmoor Primary School, i am the first to admit they have an outstanding regard for the environment & teaching children the importance of health, being environmentally friendly and embracing the arts. Academically, this school was quite outstanding. But as mentioned, i was a previous student, i did bully some kids, and i did get bullied myself. The teachers and management at Southmoor Primary School were below average in handling bullies. They dismissed them and handled every situation poorly. I recall the teachers being quite rude to the children and myself when they had to handle something other than classroom matters. In contrast to this, i must admit, some teachers were empathetic and lovely and i did love the my primary school experience as a whole. But i will warn anyone interested, that bullying is not handled sufficiently. I hope times have changed

Wonderful school! We moved here two years ago from another school and the change was amazing. My boys have developed so much better emotionally and academically. The teaching staff is wonderful, the Kitchen-Garden program is fabulous and it is overall a really friendly school.

School used to be good but now it is very badly managed and the kids hate going. The teachers are very good at teaching but there is nothing else going for this school. The vice principal actually told me that is was my sons own fault that he got beaten up.so much for the anti bullying policy. They have a lot of special needs kids, maybe they get priority because my kids don't feel like they matter there.
