Southbank Library at Boyd reviews
11Nice place connected to a café. Sit with your computer with the view of the little park in front. Nice staff
This is one gorgeous library! It’s not my local library but I absolutely love coming here for the cosy community vibe and the super friendly customer service. Thanks so much, the space is really lovely!
Boyd library is small, ultra cozy and has tons of quiet corners to injest your literature of choice.
I cannot stress enought how beautiful the library is. It has great range of books, if you are fully verified then you can borrow 50 books at a time and due is after 3 weeks, which you can renew it maximum 4 times. There is not a hefty fine if you delay returning the book. It has limited seating area and because of kids it can be noisey, thats why 4 stars but I always end up getting space, foyer is also okay and I always use earphones and it has free wifi so personally its 5 star for me.
###thank you Boyd community and contracted workers for hearing my review. The grounds are now maintained daily and not just by me. The fences have been taken down and replaced with steel temporary fencing which makes the area more open, and the net has been repaired and new net installed####
5 Stars - only took one week and 600 views for the betterment in the community
Given the current upgrade of boyd facilities and the placement of the new basketball area which I should add isn't as inclusive as the last spot. People walking through the court would always get involved and shoot a hoop on their way through cutting across the courtyard, the fences close to the road are necessary, though please don't fence off from the courtyard near rear library entrance once completed to ensure it stays inclusive for the community and further to not become a local hangout which it is already with the amount of empty wine bottles, bourbon and beer cans left from contracted workers, drug needles, broken glass, rubbish, and objects which attract bmx street riders and street skaters. Further can you please install a stainless net if you are going to have a net so that it doesn't look tatty after myself and others have to repair with cable ties. Bad for insta right?
The only reason this review is 4 stars not 5 stars is because I haven’t actually attended an event here, and I don’t want to overstate it. But I do borrow from here often and I love this library, the staff are incredibly friendly and so helpful.
I don’t really have time to browse, so I whip in to pick up the books I’ve reserved and the librarians always say hello, and there always seems to be something amazing going on. I love the Hot Picks right at the entry, and have now borrowed a few of these to watch or read fast and return in a week. That’s such a great idea for items in high demand.
This a great place to study, they have free WiFi and good places to seat. I guess my only suggestion would be to have more seats since the capacity is really limited. The collection is what you would expect from a small library.
They have great spaces for kids, although they could isolate those places from the main study area.
Cozy library with free WiFi with good bandwidth, nice sitting areas, charging stations and power points and coffee shop. But I would not recommend coming here for any intense study or work requiring absolute quiet as it can be a fairly noisy library with the kids area inside the same place where the reading and study areas is. There can also be conversations at full volume at the service area and no one stops folks from talking on their phones.
Great little Library, nice choice of books, DVD's and cd's plus a great kids section . Good for the whole family!
Good facilities. Pleasant cafe open on weekdays. Free, fast internet. Helpful library personnel. Ability to borrow from all Melbourne library branches. Nice, quiet workspace.
Fantastic library, super helpful staff and an excellent cafe whose almond milk cappuccinos will keep me coming back
