After looking around unsuccesfully, and not really considering a VW at this stage, decided to walk to the nearest dealership. Friendly, helpful and knowledgable staff coupled with a car i didnt know I needed turned my whole experience from laborious to pleasant very quickly! Thanks to James in particular, Joel and the team. Highly recommended! Loving my new wheels!

I had a great experience at Volkswagen South Yarra when I took my car in for warranty-covered issues. The service I received was exceptional. The receptionist was amazing and I would like to extend a special thank you to Michael for his excellent communication, constant updates, and adherence to the timeline for my car's repairs. Despite having to tow my car in, they were able to address the issues earlier than expected, resulting in a much quicker turnaround time. Overall, I am highly satisfied with the exceptional service provided.

Poor after-sales support. The first time I had a factory warranty issue, they tried to send me away and not fix the problem. Now I have a second issue with my vehicle (still under warranty). They have acknowledged that it's a warranty issue. They have not fixed the problem and they are not responding my voicemail and emails. Right now, I have a faulty vehicle and no response from South Yarra VW. Keep up the good work, team!

Was excited and happy to drive away with Tiguan model. Only to realise a couple of months later the rear vision mirror had become unstuck from the front windscreen. I called a number of times trying to get someone to help organise to sort it out but struggled with attitude from the reception. And found it really hard to get in touch with the service centre in prahran. ‘Oh sorry yeah the guys have finished early today’. Finally spoke to someone else that I had the test drive with and he just hand balled it and said ‘oh yeah that’s no good’ ‘that’s weird’. Anyway ended up getting tired from trying to deal with them and went to Ivanhoe Volkswagon who were great and easy to deal with. Within minutes they told me the windscreen that had been replaced on my Tiguan by the guys at Prahran from a chip was not a Volkswagen window but a cheaper replacement window. How dodgy is that. When all along I thought dealing with a Volkswagon dealership I would get Volkswagon parts garenteed but obviously not. Point of writing this is now Volkswagon can’t fix my window Mirror because they don’t have the glue? So I need to take to windscreen Obrien. WHAT a joke a dealership can’t fix there mistakes. Pathetic. And everyone shifts blame. I would expect that from a second hand dealer but not Volkswagon but there you go.

I bought a T ROC R Grid Edition from South Yarra VW in August. I live in Sydney and found the car through Carsales. It was the only one available in the colour I wanted
- Iridium Grey - at the time I was looking. It had 264 kms on the odometer and was sold as a demonstrator. I was not particularly looking for a car with a sunroof but this happened to have one installed. When I compared prices of all Sydney dealerships advertising this model (with sunroof) on Carsales I worked out that even with the cost of transporting the vehicle to Sydney ($850) the South Yarra car was about $2,200 less expensive than the asking prices in Sydney. The sales representative, Will, was such a pleasure to transact business with, especially considering the purchase was carried out by telephone and email. It was seamless and completely hassle-free. The vehicle was delivered in beautiful condition and the two bottles of Victorian wine that came with it was a nice gesture. I have been driving my Golf GTI for 16 years - bought new in 2007. It's a great car and after 133,000 kms still drives like the day I bought it. But this T ROC R is something else again. Fabulous technology which I am having a lot of fun working out and huge amounts of power delivered through an excellent AWD system. I think the T ROC R Grid Edition is the best value performance car of its type available at the moment. It will be interesting to see if the sales figures reflect how good this vehicle is. Well done VW and very well done Will - thanks for excellent service. Nice to deal with someone who likes his job.

Geoff and the service team were absolutely fantastic to deal with.
I highly recommend Sth Yarra VW for sales and service. Easily 5 Stars!

During a recent visit when we were in a pickle needing some help getting our tyre changed Elliot went out of his way to personally step away from his desk to help us sort our issues out with the car. Incredible, friendly service and special shout-out to Elliot.

Original (2017) - Thrilled with the entire experience. Harry Clive was an absolute delight - very helpful, patient and friendly. Really excellent service.

Edit (Dec 28 2022) - still driving the same car, still delighted with it. 5+ years of friendly and helpful customer service, but above and beyond today specifically. I dropped a ring that’s very precious to me between the driver seat and the centre console and couldn’t get it out. I called to ask if they might be able to help, and Hayley suggested I come by and they’d see what they could do. I got there within an hour of closing time, between Christmas and NYE, without an appointment, and they still took time out of their day to come outside (in the rain!) and help me. Thank you so much to Hayley, who took my call and was so understanding and helpful, and to Deon, who saved my ring!

Genuinely the worst car service you could find if you tried. My car went in because the transmission was recalled and it also had a full service. A week later the coolant light comes on so I go back and the service team tell me it’s fine. A week later again the coolant warning returns and they tell me the same! Then today the same thing happens again and they’re now saying there must be a leak. They have now had 4 opportunities to properly check my car and have failed to do so.

Avoid Stephanie in the service team. Extremely rude and unprofessional, not sure if management know how they are treating customers. I’d be concerned for my business if Stephanie was interacting with my customers like this.

This is the worst service I have EVER received! Breanna was rude and inaccurate. WOULD NEVER RECCOMMEND USING THIS PLACE. Starting with what I was told would be a 6-8 week wait for the part I needed. Then no loan car as it is "at the dealers discretion" quote. While waiting for the part I sourced one and asked if I could tow my car to get the part replaced and was told "As discussed the part for the vehicle is custom ordered for your car and was ordered with your approval. If you want the car towed the diagnostic cost of $220.00 plus the part will still need to be paid for". The part fits other makes and I am not obligated. When the part was fitted I was called by Breanna to advise me that the battery was dead and I needed to purchase a new one. I said that the car had been in their workshop for over a month so it was their responsibility, (the battery is only 18 mths old and is still working fine). Breanna disagreed and said the life of a battery in Aus is 18 mths? We disagreed, she then said she would not service the car or inspect why the roof wasn't working (another story!) Breanna then HUNG UP on myself and my husband! When we picked up the car the labour cost was for $778.23 hmm I was called at 10.30 in the morning to say that my car was ready? 4 hours labour $194.55 and hour! Don't go near this place they are unprofessional and inaccurate.

These people are liars and rude. I will never buy a VW again. Great cars but abysmal service department here who damaged my car. Avoid

Not useful at all. The mirror on the left side of my car got stolen and I went to get a replacement, they said they would help install and to go up and ask the people at the desk. They directed me to the gentlemen car dealer in the fancy suit and said he would give me a hand.

We proceeded outside to my car to which he got confused of an extra wire that had come out. He looked at it for about 20 minutes saying he doesn’t know where it’s from but did not offer for a technician to have a quick look. After me looking on my phone I couldn’t find a source to which he said we would probably have to take the whole door panel off, again not offering any direction of if their mechanics can do it.

Through this whole thing he could have easily just asked for help but insisted he were to fix it. In the end I found a mechanic nearby that put the mirror on in 2 minutes.

Considering this is the car manufacturer I’ve lost faith in taking my car to get serviced here.

Service department is nothing short of disgusting. Rosie Jones was so rude and had no compassion when explaining to me that I had to pay $6825 for a new head unit.
They tried to put in new wipers as they said mine needed replacing, they were only two months old.
Did not try to fix my unit at all, could be as simple as a fuse issue.
Advise everyone to not go here, steer clear of Volkswagen South Yarra.

A shocking service department or lack of service.

This morning I took a VW Golf into South Yarra Volkswagen to get wheel locks removed. I was told this would require an hour of labour as they needed to search 20 boxes each containing 40 nut heads. The quote $110 plus $16 for parts.

An hour later I missed a call from the Service department and over the next 2 hours I rang twice to be told the girl dealing with my car was unavailable and the only person I could talk too.

Later when I went to pick up the car the price had jumped to $174.
I had asked to be informed of any changes to the quote.
Of course they responded they had called me many times over the morning however my phone log proved this a lie.

When I objected to the price hike a very angry manager shouted he would replace the wheel locks leaving me in the original position.

All extremely unpleasant.

Having done my research I can suggest you shop around when looking for service from VW. For my job:
VW South Yarra quoted $110 charged $174
VW Camberwell quoted $260
VW Brighton quoted $190
VW in Geelong (Rex Gorell) FREE just the price of the wheel nuts $20!

I ended up at Volks Affair in South Melbourne. The procedure took 10 minutes and they charged $50. Would totally recommend this service centre.

I know after two years of lock down everyone is padding their bills but VW this is appalling. It was simply changing 4 wheel nuts (it took under 10 mins work in total at Volks Affair). The whole searching 20 boxes seemed to be another tall tale. He looked at the nut and picked the matching one out of a possible 20. Took seconds.

We own two VW and this does not make me think we will ever get another one. Poor service is letting down an otherwise good choice of car.

Recently purchased a new car with the help of Philip, super friendly and helpful! Lots of knowledge about the car and able to answer any questions. Super pleased with the VW Polo.

So happy with my new T-Roc which I've loved driving around over the last week! Thank you to Phillip for his excellent service throughout the process, keeping me posted while we paused for a covid moment, & for the very thorough explanation of the car's functionalities when I collected it. I'm a very happy customer!

Phillip or Phil as I started calling him was super helpful and even got me a better deal than my fleet rep could get. Hats off to him.

Feedback with regards to our recent purchase of a Volkswagen T-Roc and in particular your representative, Phillip Chan.

Phillip should commended on his service, knowledge and handling of the transaction. He took the extra measures to ensure that we could pick up and settle the car in under 24 hours.
This vehicle was for my partner Kate, he ensured that she was adequately briefed on the car, its features and how to operate.

We felt very well looked after and were extremely happy with the overall service.

Kate had previously bought her VW Polo from the same dealership in 2011 and did not have a very good experience from VW Sth Yarra. Phillip has gone a long way in changing our view of the dealership.
Should any of my colleagues or family being in the market for a VW I will be referring them to Phillip

Towed my car in after it broke down. Was told that they would need to diagnose the fault for ~$220. Misdiagnosed my car with a faulty fuel pump and got handed a $5500 repair bill. When I asked to see the diagnostic report and details of how and what tests they performed I got nothing. After I asked them to put a good will case with VW Australia they refused on the basis of modifications to the car and got quite short with me when I wouldn't give them the go ahead on the invoice. They threatened to leave my car on the road if I didn't organise a tow truck to pick it up the same day. Classy!
After taking my car to a competent mechanic, it turned out the be a faulty injector. A $1400 fix, compared to the $6-7000 fix it would've cost me with these thieves. Beware.
Only giving them one star because I can't give them no stars.
