Soumah of Yarra Valley

Lunch at the trattoria for our 27th wedding anniversary (Christmas Eve) food and service were top notch. We were made to feel like VIPS. The staff were attentive but not hovering. Food and wine (excellent wine) matches were also spot on. The wine tasting after lunch was the cream on the cake. Some interesting wines. Give the Marzemino, Savarro and Nebbiolo a go.

How much did we enjoy the experience? Came back on Boxing Day for a wine tasting with our son and his partner who hadn’t done a wine tasting before. David from the cellar door gave us an excellent explanation of each wine and the general philosophy and aims of the winemaking team.

This winery is doing good things; now our Yarra Valley go-to.

We are locals so have been to a lot of wineries in the Valley and I’d say this is one of my favourites. Great views, best platters, delicious wine and super friendly service.

Incredible views, service, dry well balanced wines and off the track without massive crowds. A total win

Massively disappointed by the quality of the food at Il Fiore Trattoria and the lack of attentive genuine service. Such a shame for the most gorgeous venue sitting atop the most beautiful vineyard hill. We picked up some lovely bottles of wine but will never dine here again. Food was below average!

Nice wines, but today's waitress (person who met us at the restaurant door) was pretty unwelcoming to us and quite rude/sarcastic to another couple with one child. My partner was ready to turn around and leave. I hope she was just having a bad day because it's a lovely place otherwise. On a positive note, the guy who did our wine tasting was great and we went home with a dozen wines.

Gorgeous spot for lunch. Great food (especially the pizza) and decent wine. I would visit again just for the views.

Excellent cellar door experience. Staff so knowledgeable and friendly. Great wine tasting with tasting notes and interesting back stories for each wine. Beautiful setting for lunch and a bottle of the Butcher and Chardonnay are must takeaways!

This afternoon we shared Merenda accompanied with Blanc de Blanc brut which even the non-bubbles drinkers enjoyed.
We started with 3 platters - 1 of cheese, dried fruit, nuts & grapes, fresh figs & Thyme, 1 of cured meats, olives & char grilled vegetables - asparagus, Carrots, pumpkin, slices of corn, peppers & rocket; 1 platter of lovely sugar cured salmon, slivers of smoked salmon with dill & capers, & brined sardines.
This was followed with a significant platter of fresh fruit, slivers of rich, moist chocolate cake & small espresso cups of tira musu, fresh rice figs, strawberries & coffee.
Staff were attentive & knowledgeable.
Great value, superb scenery & ambience.
We'll be recommending this to our friends and definitely taking interstate visitors.

Great hidden location. Beautiful scenery with rolling hills and vineyards. The food was delicious and the wine was great. Highly recommended for a special lunch. Maybe get a table outside as inside gets pretty noisy if there's a couple of large groups shouting over the top of each other

I love SOUMAH!:) My husband and I love their Fesa di Agnello. Must have when going there! I had a lovely tasting experience during my 30th. It was a happy and light experience. I ended up buying a bottle of Branchetto Frizante.

I will definitely come back. I saw that they have released new wines and I am eager to try them out. 2020 Single Vineyard Botrytis Viognier - I'm coming for you:)

Lovely location and setting with fantastic views. We had lunch here along with wine tasting, and it was a nice experience overall. Out of all the wines, The Butcher was probably the most popular one in our group, and we least liked the dessert wine, which was just way too sugary. Food wise, the antipasto platter was beautiful and absolutely loved the wagyu bresoala. Personally I felt that the braised lamb (main dish) was a bit overcooked and the polenta did not taste very freshly made. Excellent service on the whole.

Fantastic people, greeted as soon as we got there and did the tasting before lunch. What can i say the lunch was fantastic, views just awsome. An absolute enjoyable afternoon. Pinot was our choice

Went here today for our birthdays. Great views and server was knowledgeable. Just a bit disappointed, we arrived at mid day and ordered straight up for a bottle of wine (which was very good). Our food order wasn't taken till 15mins later, a table of 4 arrrived 15 mins after us and their order was taken first. When our orders were taken we were informed that they just sold out of lamb (didnt even mentioned at the start that they dont have it). What a surprise that the table arriving after us got lamb and we didn't, it's just that my partner was not a big fan of seafood. And lamb was the only meat option for the mains. Hopefully more meat option next time for mains. Not everyone likes pizza

Beautifully crafted range of wines with a particularly exciting mix of Italian varietals. Friendly, helpful unpretentious service for wine tastings. Delicious cuisine in the restaurant, served adequately by young staff who are building confidence. One of my new most favourites in Yarra Valley.

It is such an awesome place. We booked a table for lunch and the food, wine and location were just amazing. I will definitely go back there with family and friends.

Came through in a tour group they would not serve us food and lied saying the tables were booked, yet no one was seated in them the entire time we were there (1 hr). They did not offer takeaway and refused to let us even order some bread or cheese whilst tasting. So inflexible and quite rude, I guess as we were a tour group (we were also told by our host that they were hard to deal with). Many of us were starving and they could have made money of us but were happy to throw it away. We chose not to buy wine from them for this reason. Luckily the view was nice otherwise it would have been 1 star.
Service and experience is everything in this industry and it’s pretty ‘unaustralian’ to be so inflexible.

Had the pleasure of visiting Soumah yesterday for dining and wine tasting. Our server/sommelier Scott was fantastic and really took the time to explain things to us. The food was also lovely. Would definately recommend the wild boar ragu which was just perfect. Overall service and food was beyond our expectations and we will be returning soon.
