From the minute we sat down the food and service were excellent. Max the Dutchman served us and if I could give him 6 stars I would! Some of the best service I’ve had anywhere in the world.

Society is a true standout deserving of five stars! The atmosphere is simply gorgeous, exuding a classy charm that sets the perfect tone for a delightful experience. What's noteworthy is the subtle ambiance – not loud, allowing for a sophisticated and enjoyable dining setting.

The food at Society is excellent, delivering on taste and presentation. The menu showcases a culinary prowess that caters to diverse palates, ensuring a satisfying dining journey for every guest.

Equally impressive are the bartenders and waiters at Society. Their friendliness and attentiveness add a special touch, enhancing the overall dining experience. The staff's dedication to exceptional service is evident and contributes to the welcoming atmosphere.

Came here to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday and we both left very unsatisfied.
-Table service was slow, waited nearly 20 mins for every dish to come out.
-Customer service was alright not the best.
-Food wasn’t that great.
-Overpriced for what you pay for.
-Bill came out faster than the food.

Overall disappointing experience for fine dinning. Would not come back here again.

Lunch at the @societyrestaurant #melbourne We had the three course menu with vegetarian options. Quite a filling feast both for the mouth and eyes and fills your heart and stomach easily.

From the moment you walk in this venue does not disappoint.

The food was amazing from beginning to end and the food kept coming.

We loved every part.

Our only disappointment was that we were not informed of the charge for water. This added $70 to the bill which is a bit steep.

This place feels like the cafeteria’s of th70, s.
The food was abysmal.
We started with oysters, caviar pretzels and lamb skewers. The oysters were fine but the pretzels were a ball of chewy dough (doughnut hole) with tasteless fish roe on top, the size of my thumb nail (note I didn’t use the word caviar) $27 each.
The lamb skewers smelled of burnt oil left on the grill for a few days and the lamb was then cooked on it. No one asked us why they were left on the plate when they took it away. We then had the sirloin, this was
ok ish. I’ve had better steaks at the local pub. No one asked us why we left most of it and asked for our bill.
I wouldn’t go again. Even though the balcony cigar area is fantastic.

I give you 4 stars for food and probably 2 for service. Food was amazing however service was unintuitive and rude at times. Seems like the service was lacking a structure and authenticity. Seems like with the time, the service and attentiveness gotten worse.
Not impressed with the whole experience and won’t be back.

Food was good. Better menu selection than dining room. Attentive service and huge wine list.
Seating a bit tight and those close to the outdoor area could smell smoke coming in from the doors swinging open and closed.

Probably the most expensive restaurant in Melbourne we've been to. Lovely ambience, amazing furniture and lighting, great for catching up with close friends. Our sommelier and head waiter were great with explaining the wine ($$$$) and menu. The wagu steak was divine with the most delicious sauce, the creamy potato side with truffle phenomenally delicious as were the beans /peas and tomato side
We visited them again tonight and again superb service and delicious meals.warm plates for our steak! Devine

I booked this restaurant for my dinner in Dec 2022. There were 14 guests and we spent over $4,000. After paying the bill, and on closer examination I noticed some issues. I contacted the restaurants administration. They said they would look into the issue. They didn't come back to me and after I followed up I was told that my issues were rebuked by the restaurant manager and that was it. Luckily it's Melbourne and the reader of this review has many fantastic options, I would choose elsewhere.

I’m not sure what all the hype is about. We didn’t have the best experience. We walked into beautiful surrounds although these were the issues:
1. Upon entering I approached reception only to be kept waiting for some time while the staff chatted amongst themselves for what felt like 7 mins.
2. The booking was for 8: 45 but we were seated close to 9: 30 given our table wasn’t ready.
3. We had to ask for a food menu.
4. There were butter knives on the table - we had to ask for butter after waiting for some time without it.
5. It was a friends birthday, this was noted during the booking process but not acknowledged.
6. The food was okay - loved the chocolate dessert.
7. We received anther bill instead of our own.

For the price I would have expected much better service.

Ambience and drinks were amazing. Food was so average - lobster was tough and just nothing impressive for 300$ (?). Entrees were fine but still wasn’t really blown away:/

It was my first time ordering straight up caviar, and it was incredible. Super creamy and tasty, and paired so well with the crème fraiche, brioche rolls and potato rosti ‍ The Society Seafood was a delight. You get a variety of seafood in a set of two, and each piece made with fresh ingredients and uniquely presented. The lobster ravioli is quite the fav from all the reviews I've seen. The sauce was amazing but the ravioli itself didn't "wow" me like some of the other dishes of the night.

We shared the smoked wagyu prime rib for the main and agreed it was one of the best wagyu we've ever had. It's a very generous serving and worth the $245 imo. The wasabi creme fraiche butter won the most creative presentation of the night - it’s the cheesecake looking triangle dish. For the sides, I enjoyed the potato pave - you can't go wrong with potatoes, and there's something about food with layers that makes me obsessed. It had a nice little crunch but could've been better with a more salt.

And lastly, the Charlotte dessert was perfect.

Poor service cold fillet. Nobody is paying attention. If you want to charge good money you have to earn it.

Had lunch at society in Nov 2022 and enjoyed everything.

The presentation of the scallop dish was amazing and the taste of the duck breast was so good.

I could not praise the team at Society any higher. Impeccable service levels and clearly a terrific culture. Highly skilled, so welcoming and warm/friendly. We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary there this month and although the meal was truly superb matched perfectly with the wines, the standard of service took the whole experience to another level again. We even had an unexpected couple of unique surprises at the end that really capped our night off. Thank you so much for making our evening one to remember for ever.

I Came here for dinner last night and it was exquisite. The interior and branding is absolute on point. Customer service was good, but I was little bit disappointed how I had two different staff members ask me if I wanted more bread and I said yes to both staff members and they both said they would come back with more bread, then a third staff members takes my bread plates away and not one of those two staff members came back with the bread I requested. Anyway pricing is reasonable, I guess. I know it’s fine dining but maybe something a little more filling or a bit larger portions.
I found the honey tart and bit too sweet almost sickening and not a good mix of flavours.

It also was my friends birthday which I told the staff about and they said they’d bring out a free cake, when the waiter came to the table I secretly asked the waiter for the free cake and he said you have to order a dessert to get it, I was bit confused when he said ages ago it was free, anyway ordered a dessert and got the free dessert in the end.

Thanks Society you’re beautiful. Little bit disappointed on those simple things though.

Amazing food and atmosphere. In addition the staff were wonderful, not pretentious and welcoming. Loved my experience and will come back again.
