Slater St. Bench

Nice little spot when the sun is out but $6 for a small coffee is too much. Better options around.

Having a coffee here is one of my favourite rituals. The ambience is beautiful. My only issue with this cafe is the lack of savoury options and their tendency to run out of food by midday on the Sundays which has happened on many occasions by 11: 30am. If not for this, I would give this place 5 ️

Best coffee, delicious pastries and amazing baristas, look forward to coming by any morning or afternoon I need that coffee hit! Absolutely amazing people! Bench is always awesome but this one is still my favourite

Refused to do a dirty chai cause they think it doesn’t “taste good”

Well for one, make it taste good then I guess? But secondly- maybe give the customer what they want not what you personally like? It’s not you drinking the coffee isn’t it? Sub par. Only reason it’s not 1 stars is because you got somewhat friendly service after they stopped being pretentious.

Recently they removed soy from the menu, makes such a big difference not being able to get my go-to coffee from my go-to coffee shop.

Always the best coffee and pastries. I love that it’s dog friendly and the staff are so polite every time! Highly recommend when visiting Fawkner Park for a walk.

Still the best black coffee in Melbourne and I have tried all over the place to find better. Make sure you go to Slater St, as the Baristas here are particularly better.

Great spot, very glad I ventured out in the rain today to try somewhere new! I ordered a flat white with oat milk & it was perfect. Bench uses Oatly, which I generally don’t love… but it may have been the best oat milk coffee I’ve had. The baristas are clearly experienced — it’s been years since I did a barista course, but even I could tell they had their milk steaming technique down to an art.

Besides coffee, it’s beautifully designed space with a great range of pastries and service that was both friendly and efficient. I had a cinnamon scroll and it was delicious. Looking forward to trying a muffin and an iced coffee next time I’m nearby!

Strange café - insists on not putting chocolate on a cappuccino even when the customer pulls them up on it. They should advertise they only sell lattes then. Guess they can’t make mochas either with that attitude. Really disappointing - bad customer service and not the right approach to hospitality. There are a couple of other cafés when you cross the road so definitely avoid this one if you’re after a cappuccino!

Delicious coffee and snacks. Low key neighborhood vibe. Free sparkling water.

Miss the pre-pandemic baguettes.

That's an exquisite place for me. I was impressed with this place three times. Firstly. It's well-organized business especially COVID situation. And they were so kind and professional. I spilt a whole coffee in the morning before tasting it. They made me relaxed and cleaned that spot calmly. In addition, they served another coffee! Lastly, it tastes great although I don't like sour coffee. I am pleased to recommend this place.

Watery, no flavors just sour taste
It used to be a good place to have a cuppa when they use other roastery beans like Small batch, Acoffee but ever since they started using their own, not delightful even CBD one as well.

Just really good Melbourne coffee. Lovely seating area in and outside on benches with a nice view of saint Kilda rd and the businesses around the area. There’s a tram that stops right in front of the cafe which makes it very convenient to travel to and fro.
