I regretfully embarked on the journey of building a home with Simonds, and it's been a nightmare from start to finish. The level of incompetence and disregard for customers is beyond belief.

Communication with Simonds Home is virtually non-existent. They excel at making excuses rather than resolving issues. My house build was plagued with delays, extending over four agonizing months without any valid reason provided. The promised delivery dates were nothing but empty assurances.

During the handover, the site supervisor barely spared five minutes, citing a rush due to his "busy schedule. " The dismissive attitude was apparent, leaving me with no opportunity to address concerns. The supervisor brushed off any issues, directing me to the maintenance form for resolution.

However, the nightmare continued as the maintenance team spun tales about 3rd party contractors supposedly damaging my house, despite it being vacant. Shockingly, they washed their hands of any responsibility, refusing to rectify the supposed damages.

Attempting to communicate with Simonds Home through emails became a dreadful chore, only adding more stress to an already harrowing experience. Each correspondence seemed to amplify my frustrations rather than providing solutions. When I requested escalation, they callously directed me to VCAT, absolving themselves of accountability.

Save yourself the turmoil and avoid Simonds Home at all costs. Their lack of communication, irresponsible behaviour, and refusal to address issues render them a company to steer clear of. Trust me, the headache of dealing with Simonds Home is a regrettable burden no one should endure.

That is not reliable builder. When I came to the sales office. They said and promised my house will be done only 6months express like their policy and signature of Simond Express. But now I have settled all my invoice with them. My house is still not be done for 10 months. So disappointed. They dont follow the contract they just waste your time they dont care how hard finance the customer is facing with rental. Never never recommend this Builder. Keep away form them

Recently built a house at Simonds Homes.no problem. From sales (Joanne), Customer Coordinator (Danny)
to site supervisor Matt, they all provided a lot of help.

Maintenance department process is very slow. Firstly they will not pick call. Secondly their technician will give long wait time though it is an urgent issue. I have having gas leakage issue at my house and they are giving two weeks of window to send a technician.

My journey with Simonds has been mostly positive. Professional and timely responses to any of my concerns. The house was completed and revised accordingly. All correspondence and communications with my CRC and Supervisors have been constructive and effective. A great gift at handover. My family are happy customers indeed. Keep up the quality work Simonds.

Absolutely DISGUSTING customer service! Awful place to sign a contract with. As a first home buyer you’d expect a helping hand but we’ve been constantly ignored throughout the entire process of our build from start to finish. SIMONDS don’t give you a manger to work with and don’t respond to your cry for help, they ghost your calls but demand payment. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

Visited Simonds on St Kilda Road for our gallery appointment with Beth. Was greeted by the very bubbly receptionist and then had our full day consultation with Beth who was extremely patient and knowledgeable. Beth took the time to ensure we made all the right choices to suit us in the long term and she was extremely helpful and honest which made the whole day process much easier

If anything can go wrong it does when you build with Simonds and the job had a supervisor but no one really supervised anything. Also please refer to my two photo's.

House built by simmons, its only a year and a half old and full of problems and very poorly finished. Mortar in brick work was left with holes in many place's rear door full of scraches. Bathroom wall mirror installed with scratches, flooring squeeking, very badly painted walls patches showing everywhere, corneces separating from plaster, mistake in slab front porch holds water and the list goes on all these excuses and nothing was ever fixed or replaced.

Hi Simonds,

Can you please ask someone from the accounts team to settle the overdue unpaid invoices immediately? I tried in the past months between departments in the Simonds home and have not getting any response on the payment. Please kindly advise if your company is in trouble paying people.

Started my build in 2020 and it's still not completed yet. Had 2 site supervisors with horrible communication. Using COVID as an excuse is getting old. I've seen bigger projects completed in shorter timeframes.

I believe once this review has been published, an automated response will be sent as a reply to send an email to customer.success. I've done this prior to this but no reply.

Just horrible.

I bought a double story house in 2015 because of its builder Simonds Homes. I trusted the brand, but unfortunately, the quality was completely a disaster. The house was built in 2010. I've kept discovering a number of building defects since I moved in.

Some visible and major defects were fixed under 7 years building warranty, such as:
- Temperature sensor of solar hot water wasn't wired from roof to the hot water unit.
- 1-2cm gap between brick wall and window.
- Large gap under window frames.
- Multiple sliding glass windows couldn't be fully closed and left 0.5cm gaps.
- Unleveled floor in a bedroom in level 1.

I continued to discover hidden "treasures" recently for these weren't easily to be seen.
- Gutter brackets were installed at the random intervals of 1.3m to 1.7m. The interval should not be more than 1.2m. Also brackets were not secured firmly because they had to be folded causing the gutters shaking and making noise in windy weather.
- Incorrect gutters slope resulting pool water in multiple corners.
- Wire went through exhaust fan case and cover which left a gap.
- Found ceiling insulation R3.5 bags left in ceiling, but R3.5 batts were horizontally cut in half down to 9-11cm thick to save cost. Only a few batts weren't cut.
- Ceiling insulation weren't installed in some ceiling areas.
- A horizontal stud wasn't nailed properly and fell off. It was found out in a bathroom renovation.
- Not many tiles had been fixed with nails, also most of roof tile nails were missed.

More to come.

My son’s built a house in Thornhill Park with Simonds he had multiple issues and Simonds homes failed to reply. Don’t get back to you so now it’s been referred to the DBDRV.
I am disgusted with the way they treat people after you pay them I can’t understand how they go to sleep at night. He is now taking legal action.

To Simmons homes since you’ve got no name
I did what you asked for but I suppose it’s only for Luke’s because no one‘s got back in touch with me no one’s investigating the matter the matter will only be going one way to Vcat I would think twice before anyone building a house with Simmons I would go and look at people‘s reviews don’t just take my word for it thanks Alex

To Simmons Homes
It’s been about three weeks now no one has got in touch with me as you can see this is a joke I have forwarded everything you ask for nothing in return Simmons homes should be ashamed treating people the way they do as I said in the beginning legal action is the only way unfortunately for anyone that’s gonna be building with SIMONDS I would seriously think twice have a look at all Reviews

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. The absolute worst service, they delay for no reason and they do not respond to queries. We have been trying to get hold of someone in regards to our build for the last 2 weeks and no response from any site supervisor. They even cost us a $788 water bill for water usage and our site supervisor Adrian has just been extremely difficult to deal with. Buyer beware, don't listen to their false promises to get youto sign up. Build with a medium sized company that actually cares.

Edit: I've emailed your customer success team and no response. I suppose it's all just for looks that they pretend to be investigating the matter.

Where do I start?
Been in the house for over a year and I have brick mortar joining my house with my next door neighbours. Shannon Dean promised that it would be removed yet it's still there.
My driveway had numerous holes in it from being poured too dry. A concreter, sent by Simonds, patched the holes and now my driveway looks patchy. Shannon Dean did agree that he would have this rectified but has now told us that Simonds will not replace my driveway.
I won't mention the numerous other items that took months to rectify.
Do NOT build with this builder, once you give them your final payment they don't care.

Very disappointed with Simonds homes. The after sales service is atrocious. The work that's been done by diffrent trades is awful. The customer service from site supervisor is.you mention a problem and the replies are: Let me get back to you, which he doesn't. Call again, I'm in a meeting, I'll call you back, which he doesn't. Call again, remind me what the problem is again, Oh I'll get back to you. They come out to have a look finally, then I'll call you tomorrow with what we'll do to fix it. A week later nothing. Problems? Ok. Plumbing: 2 mixer taps don't have cold water, only warm and hot. Removed taps myself to have a look, full of rocks. Pipes have not been flush before fitting all taps. Electrical: 1 powerpoint wired incorrectly and kept tripping the safety switch. 1 powerpoint not connected at all. Surround speaker wires routed to a different room (wow). A lot of light switches don't click on/off correctly, you have to play a bit to turn the light off and when mentioned I got.oh the electrician would need to adjust the switch. In what world does a light switch button gets adjusted? Painting: sloppy and the paint around 1 aluminium frame window looks like it was done by a 3 year old.
I am appalled by the work, communication and lack of commitment to get things done properly. And if you reply to this Simonds, No I do not want to call or email your customer service team and complain so you can investigate. You should be doing that already. All the best to you.

Really disappointed by Simonds, I built a previous house with a cheaper builder and found the experience and quality of build much better. I rented my house out once it was built and before I rented it out I did an electrical safety inspection which outlined a long list of electrical problems needing rectifying, I contacted Simonds last year in Oct about it and I’m still waiting for them to fix the electrical issues. I built during COVID and therefore couldn’t attend face to face during each phase of the build to inspect and when I asked if I could ad least get photos of the completion of each phase my builder seemed quite irritated by this request. Simonds also didn’t supply basic things such as letter box and blinds which I was aware of before I built but find it strange as the cheaper builder I built with prior to Simonds provided those things.

Worst experience building with Simonds.
Our build started in Late 2020 and it’s still not finished. Numerous delays throughout the build. One item can delay the whole process by months. Many incorrect fixes and builds picked up by us, not the supervisor. Same mistake occurred multiple times.
Minimum communication from the company. Keeps blaming on others.
In short, they don’t care about the customer once the contract is sent.

So annoyed right now, 6 weeks ago I paid a deposit with Simonds homes for a build on a property in Flowerdale north of Melbourne. It ticked all the boxes with their criteria to build but now 6 weeks later I find they are refusing to build because "we think it's going to be hard" no reason given (even the sales rep doesn't know what the reasoning is.) Absolutely poor service and feedback over the 6 weeks.

Shameful. The rep initially called me on a Sunday while with family. Subsequent to a brief 5 minute
discussion I was then told that unless I pay them $500 I am unable to reserve the advertised prices on a house and land package as there was to be a price increase 12: 00am that day. Absolute rubbish and unconscionable behaviour. So the rep basically, never called me back. Head office advised me that conduct was not okay and someone will call me shortly as I had plenty of questions. Still waiting for a call 2 weeks later. Not only am I buying elsewhere now but I will report this to ACCC. Buying a home is a serious commitment and not allowing customers to be given proper information and due time to consider and consult before being rushed into some kind of commitment is really disgusting conduct.
