Shiki Japanese Restaurant reviews
51Love this place, have been coming for years. Traditional food and decor. Friendly service and very fresh sushi.
Food took too long to come out. Entres came out at different times as did mains so we didn't get to eat together sashimi not sashimi grade. Red bean ice cream dry, icy and tasteless
This is genuinely the best Japanese restaurant in Melbourne, I have been coming here since I was a kid and it seriously never disappoints. The atmosphere is so authentic and the quality of the food is out of this world! The bento boxes are my favourite! Definitely recommend!
Got 7 banquets meals and the portions were small and being coming here for 10 years now there is a weekend surcharge
Just amazing food and great service - the staff really went above and beyond for our birthday celebration!
Seen some negative comments I have no idea why. Food and service were really good and fast. If you want to east Japanese this is the place. We ordered 4 starters (to share) and 4 main meals plus drinks. Everything was delicious. I guess it's easier to complain as this is human nature that's why decided to put my comment as giving 1 start to this place for me nonsense.
The worst soft cell crab I have ever had. Soggy and the colour is unpleasant. Other food are below the standard too.
This is a good place for tempura icecream but i would not recommend the udon noodle miso seafood soup, fish was rubber and the soup was bland, noodles were nice.
Terrible experience, rude service and food was disgusting. Ordered chicken and I’m not sure it was chicken - gross won’t be back
My experience was good service, authentic fresh food and good prices. Can’t speak for people who had to wait, but on my visit food came out nicely. Thanks guys!
We were originally going to go to Okami, but it was packed. No regrets though! The food is fantastic and the service was good and it’s quiet- which I love. I can’t stand noisy restaurants, this place deserves more hype.
The buttered mushrooms were.
Extremely frustrated and disappointed, I have waited 50 minutes for a $20 unadon, it was just plain rice with a piece of low quality unagi.not impressed at all
Me and my Wife were celebrating our 30th year anniversary. And we decided to try somewhere we’ve never been before. As soon as we get there it takes 20 minutes for us to be handed our menu’s. As we wait for another 30 minutes for our order to be taken.
We see waiter drop the ice cream in the bin, and pick it up and serve it.
Staff walking soaking plates across the floor letting it drip straight onto the carpet. (I fear for mould)
The food for the price was mediocre.
Any of the fried food tasted just like old oil that had been used for days!
One thing I can recommend is the Gyu Tataki. Raw beef served with egg Yolk served on top a delicious sauce. Sadly I was not finished with my food when they brought my very mediocre Katsu Pork that again, only tasted of oil. And cleared my food off the table before I could finish.
My wife got the Sushi Bento box. She raved about the octopus. But there was a lot of undesirable food in other places. The tempura prawn was suffering harshly from the old oil taste.
The fried eggplant and the potato cake, same problem. And what I believed to be Takoyaki balls were mushy and left a horrible aftertaste in our mouths that forced us to leave it half eaten. (We hate wasting food, but it was truly sickening)
Wouldn’t Go Again!
Great Japanese good, can take awhile to prepare but does feel fairly fresh. Decent serving size. Plenty Parking out back. Worth a visit.
I was excited to try this place as we just moved to the area and quite enjoy Japanese cuisine. Our go-to is normally Okami but as they aren’t open on Tuesday’s we tried this place. Ridiculous waiting times. We were there for over 3h after ordering the budget dinner banquet for 2 option. Was completely thrown back from the waiting times and got home much later then expected. Really disappointing. The food wasn’t great either. Sorry but we won’t be back. The customer service was terrible and unfortunate for a place which such potential. No one tended to our table and we had to request service.
Really nice food. Sushi wasn't all the freshest. Tempura wasn't crispy enough for my fiance but I thought it was good. Service was friendly and helpful. Very well priced for what we got. Seafood teppanyaki was amazing, never had anything like it before. It wasn't very noisy which was nice
My family and I have been enjoying this beautiful food for years, and will continue to enjoy the amazing fresh and delicious meals. I highly recommend SHiki for real Japanese cuisine and a relaxed atmosphere, thank you
Food was yummy, ramen took a while but nice and quiet experience whilst not being too expensive
I wish I could give this place a review below 1 but unfortunately that is not possible. The food is absolutely DISGUSTING! The treatment of workers APPALLING. I do not recommend this place TO ANYONE!
Fresh and expertly prepared. Excellent flavours and efficient service - a great find in the suburbs.
