Shawcross Pizza Joint reviews
63Lots of different and creative pizza options you cannot find everywhere. The slices are great value and filling
Not as good as it use to be. So soggy, raw bass and half a kilo of cheese weighing it down, which is not cooked. Spent my money and it’s practically inedible.
The service in Shawcross Pizza Joint is great, the pizzas we have had were really delicious and we do love the thin pizza bottom with rich toppings. There is a wide range to choose from.
The new owner is open for good suggestions and the restaurant has a lovely ambience. We will certainly come back to try an other pizza
Woah. The pizza I just ordered from here was so bad that I have been compelled to write a review. I used to buy pizza from here 1-2 years ago on the regular and they were fresh, flavourful and a personal favourite. Today I cannot say the same. The pizza I received tonight tasted of cardboard. There has clearly been a change in management and it shows through the cheap and distasteful produce now being used to make their sad slop they call pizza. Really disappointing how this Fitzroy favourite has ended up in the gutter- a place their pizza now seemingly belongs.
New owner since Jan 2024, so look at reviews since then. Owner was very kind to us, it’s a great thin crust pizza, so more italian style rather than new york style. Which is great. Flexible to change up things as well. Has vegan and vegetarian options.
The pizza was so delicious and the atmosphere was so good. The service is also friendly, so I think I'll stop by again when I go to FitzRoy. I recommend it!
A great place to pop in for a tasty and fresh Bollywood pizza, delicious with good service. Recommended:)
Terrible. Used to be much nicer but they apparently changed owners and they clearly dont know anything about pizza. Bad even for suburb pizza would trust a Jonny boys over this. What a shame.
If I could leave no stars I would. This place is not welcoming. I went in to get 3 large pizzas and over the phone I was told it would be a 1 hour wait l. I arrived in store a few minutes early before that full hour was up and when I said my order I was yelled at by a man in the back because I have not waited the full hour after ordering. I had no problem waiting a few minutes more for the pizza however he made it a big problem and I was not treated well. I went back 15 minutes later and was told to wait more then I waited another 45 minutes for my pizza and asked for my money back. They told me that 2 of the pizzas were ready and I could take them and refund me the 3rd one. Why would I want the 2 pizzas that have been sitting there waiting for the 3rd one to cook?
No thank you…
Good luck to the new ownership of this once good pizza shop, you have destroyed it. Would not recommend to anyone.
Best to avoid, very dry and congealed cheese with no sauce on the base… wasnt even all the advertised ingredients on the pizza lol
Average- pizza had a stodgy bottom (I like a crispy bottom) and ‘crunchy fries’ where just basic oven chips with a bit of paprika. Will try the other pizza places before coming back here
Used to be my go to place for a slice but ordered from them recently and it wasn't the same, there's definitely less toppings now- think inflation has hit the business.
Was my go to place pre-covid but they fell off. Base is just thin and pancakey, toppings are lacking, triple cheese pizza doesn't even have 3 types.
Used to be my go to place for a slice but ordered from them recently and it wasn't the same, there's definitely less toppings now- think inflation has hit the business. Nonetheless, pizza still tastes great and will continue to order from them, maybe just not as often as I used to.
Out of the handful of places you can get pizza by the slice, this is one of the best. It’s pretty cheap, open late and usually pretty reliable. The vegan option used to be subpar but now it’s got vegan cheese and it’s much better - holds its own against the standard slices.
A shadow of its former self, maybe under new ownership? Pizzas consistently arrive under- or over- cooked, missing ingredients. Rocket used to arrive separately to keep it fresh now arrives wilted on the pizza. Attention to detail is gone. Too much garlic on the garlic and herb pizza. A sad way this amazing place has gone, I keep trying to love it again but it’s a consistent disappointment. I give up.
Article in the window of this restaurant from ‘Time Out Magazine’ in 2020 says ‘Best Pizza in Melbourne’. Very sadly couldn’t disagree more. Bought 2 Veggie Pizza’s last night & they were honestly the worst Pizzas I’ve ever had. Stopped eating them half way through- very little toppings apart from bad tasting shop jar pesto & was just inedible- put them in the bin & I hate wasting food. Even though didn’t eat it all was awake throughout the night drinking water & also had very upset stomach today.
YOU HAVE TO GO THERE! Pizza is super delicious and there is a promotion every Tuesday #maybe I'm not sure haha just for 10 dollars only, very nice staffs recommends promotion or any menu and repeat orders.
P. S. He's also very handsome.
But the bathrooms are quite a mess.
The new owners are nice but the pizza doh has changed and it was really greasy, you use to be able to pick it up and it would stay together now you pick it up and it just flops, there pizza has definitely changed. There use to be a relaxed atmosphere with music and people hanging out, now it's quiet and was way to serious for Brunswick St. I hope they make it back to how it was otherwise won't be going back.
I’ve had to change my review unfortunately. It used to read, “5stars - Notorious P. I. G.hands down” but, something has changed. The Notorious P. I. G.was different tonight. Like as if a fake Shawcross made it. Everything from the style of bacon cut, number of jalepenos, amount of BBQ sauce, the ranch sauce—even the box was different! Whatever the “magic sauce” was that made this pizza great for years—it has gone. It’s as if there’s new management and they thought they could mess with the recipe—IDK what else it could be! I hope they can sort this out but until then I can no longer recommend this pizza
