Shavans Pinewood reviews
67 Great food and wonderful ambience.
Went for Father's Day special buffet. Nice spread.
Exceptional service is the cherry on top. Staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and prompt. They made sure to check in frequently, but not too much to become intrusive. Every need was catered to with a genuine smile.
Brilliant Restaurant. Best Curries I have ever had, particularly enjoyed the Sri Lankan varieties.
The manager was very helpful and polite. The service is prompt which is something I like.
The wine list is not to bad either and the decor is classy.
This place is way above your normal Indian Restaurant.
I highly recommend this Restaurant.
This place is a gem, food, ambience and service were excellent. Its just a comfortable, pleasant restaurant. Certainly not cheap, but I think worth a special night with my wife. I've noticed some not so engaging reviews! Please stay at Cafe McDonald's where your appraisal is more accurate.
On of the best Indian/Sri Lankan restaurants in Pinewood and around. Well experienced chef in the house so can’t go wrong with great team. Fresh and delicious authentic food with big range of alcohol too. Keep up the good work team. Thank you for the great hospitality too.
This is the first time I've been to this restaurant I've been to others to my judgement top service very clean relax atmosphere nice cool music the food can't complain the biryany was realy good the meat so tasty and tender I don't realy know which meals I like they all tasted realy good, I will go back you pay for what you get. Thank you realy enjoyed it
Ok my review.
The food was really tasty, the kitchen knows
how to prepare a good samosa, biryani and nanbread.
I'd have given a 5 stars, however the portions are small, 50% smaller than my expectations based on mm my years eating Indian.
So don't not come in on hungry otherwise you might get disappointed like me.
The atmosphere is good, the gentleman serving is cordial.

Disappointed
We have been here a few times. Food is delicious. Dosa really authentic taste. Fish curry so much flavour. Our favouirite the lamb cutlets and cheese naan delicious. The waiter was very polite. Atmosphere and ambience high quality. Servings are large & generous. Asked for a few take away boxes no problem. Packed our leftovers for our dinner tomorrow night. Highly recommend Shavans for good authentic Indian food.
This is my favourite resturant. The best Indian and Sri Lankian food - wonderful combination of herbs and spices. My favourite is the Kashmiri Nan and the lamb stuffed mushrooms. Great wines and cocktails too. I always bring visitors here for a treat. Family outings as well.friendly service too. Came away happy and satisfied.
Another excellent lunch in pristine conditions. Monthly luncheons at Shavans are highlights of my social group’s monthly meetings. Thank you again Nalin
Took some friends here. The menu is rather complicated to choose from. The wait staff is bordering on rude. Highly overpriced for the service and quality of food.
Asked to take away the left overs and was told we had to pack it ourselves because it was council regulations.
I would expect the council may not like to see this either.
I have been to the upstairs bar and the restaurant as well. Ambiance was great and excellent food! Reasonably priced as well.
Had a takeaway Mughlai chicken. No salt and the chicken was cooked plain and just dumped in the gravy.
Pretty sure I could have got the same taste by making it with some curry mix from the supermarket.
Maybe the other dishes here are quite good, but don't order this one.
Lovely food but the service was slow. There was an awfully loud family that they put in the middle of the restaurant near everyone else. To their credit they moved us on request.
Great ambiance! Nice variety over the menu. Entrees and breads were justifiable BUT a big no no to the main course - I am sure Chef can do much better in terms of bringing the food taste towards a bit authenticity rather than cooking everything in JUST Tomato gravy? Hope this would be taken positively - though food was OK but we really enjoyed the seating.
Cheers!
Nice quiet place to have a relaxed meal. Had fish cutlets with other food we ordered and so tasty.
A hidden gem. The food is absolutely outstanding - it’s difficult to find great Sri Lankan food in Melbourne, and this place is the best I’ve come across. We had hoppers for dinner, and they were so delicious! The chicken curry was spicy, complex and authentic. YOU MUST GET THE HOPPERS!
Vibe/ atmosphere is not super modern, it’s just a really warm and nice. The service is very good.
I seriously highly recommend this place.
What a pathetic restaurant, had a very poor service from here and the owner was the rudest person I have ever met. The girl who served is said the prices have changed and new prices are different than what is displayed in the menu. What a rip off! Menu prices are different than what he wants to charge. Would never recommend to anyone. Shame on u on running a business like this.
The girls were lovely. Madushani offered us a very good service.
Food is above and beyond.worth trying to make your day special.
