I was diagnosed with Parkinsons Disease in June 2017. I honestly thought my life was over. I got various referrals to see a psychologist but none of them seem to be a “good fit”.

A friend referred me to see Sharon Marcus when I was at an all time low. I was immediately struck by her warmth and sensitivity. It was such a relief for me as I had suffered with anxiety for years and my diagnosis just compounded the problem. Right from the beginning I felt that Sharon “had my back”.

She was quick to pick up triggers for my distress and really “honed in” on my ability to become more self-aware - so as to, differentiate what was “old stuff” and what was “real stuff” going on at that moment. Learning to separate the two is a process that requires a really skilful therapist - I think Sharon navigated it with utmost patience.

For me personally; cognitive behaviour therapy feels like an internal dialogue and “playing the devils advocate with oneself”. It has helped me to put a “lid” on some dark thoughts when my mind starts to “run away” from me. Sharon runs her practice with strong boundaries which I really respect. A real gift is her sense of humour which can help diffuse some tricky moments.

To sum it up I have experienced many “aha” moments which has been so helpful in my daily living. Sharon is a complete blessing in my life…

I have been seeing Sharon for four years now, I began seeing Sharon when I was going through the darkest period of my life.

Sharon was empathetic, extremely helpful and caring and helped me create strategies to be able to stand through challenging times and find a path through them and be more than ok

I wouldn’t have got through that without Sharon’s help so I cannot recommend highly enough

I have a long history of seeing Sharon Marcus dating back to the 1990's. I see Sharon when I reach a hiccup in my life and need clarification, guidance and wisdom. Sharon is empathic, always hits the nail on the head with the cause of the issue and together we design a strategy to move forward. I always leave Sharon feeling that I'm not alone and that there is someone who truly understands what I'm going through. It's very comforting to have Sharon in my corner. She's the best. ️

I have been seeing Sharon for around 7 years and she has made an enormous difference in my life and that of my family. Sharon has supported me through anxiety, depression and challenging life events. Sharon’s warmth and compassion ensure I feel safe discussing any issue and as though she is right there with me in dealing with these. Similarly, her professional expertise means I leave our sessions feeling prepared and empowered to deal with the issues I am facing. Sharon always offers practical and achievable strategies to navigate anxiety – and having practiced these over time they have substantially improved how I deal with anxiety. I am enormously grateful to Sharon for all she has done and would highly recommend her to others.

Sharon helped me at a time in my life where I felt completely and utterly hopeless. But that has all changed as Sharon has given me clarity and taught me how to better manage things since I first started seeing her more than 12 months ago. She balances her incredible kindness and understanding with professionalism and everytime I have used the tools she has given, I have always been amazed at the positive progress as a result. Could not highly recommend her enough. An absolute gem.

Sharon has been my psychologist over a period of about 6 years. She offers me compassion and support when I'm going through a rough patch. She provides personalised strategies for me to trial when I feel ready. During brighter times, I view Sharon as my life coach or mentor, waving a supportive flag in my corner while helping me to navigate life's challenges. I feel very grateful to have Sharon's guidance.

Sharon is both empathic and highly effective in her counselling practice. Constructive and realistic, she offers practical approaches and mindsets
to deal with challenging situations. Nothing is too difficult or too trivial to be discussed. I highly recommend Sharon.

I have been seeing Sharon for about five years. Sharon engages with warmth and intelligence. Sharon helps me gain insight, and provides support when I need it. Her empathy and warmth don't get in the way of being professional: without judgement she sees through my defences. Sharon has a special ability to combine all her gifts - intelligence, knowledge, sensitivity to others and compassion - to help me, and foster those skills in me. That has helped me understand my relationships with others in a new way. I leave our sessions with a feeling of relief, and often amazement and gratitude, that I can handle the stresses of life.

Sharon has helped me enormously to gather a smarter social intelligence.
This has helped me to not run and hide as I normally do, "awfulizing" the situation from my dark spot. This behaviour trait of mine lead to a deterioration of many social situations and isolation on my behalf. Sharon has confronted my thinking and assumptions that I can often make. This she goes about with clarity and a velvet glove.
As a result of Sharon's help I'm gaining more confidence, better able to manage certain social situations without hiding and I'm happier within myself.
I feel better grounded, and want to continue working with Sharon to break down well entrenched behaviours.
Sharon you are a gem.thank you

Sharon Marcus is extremely professional, kind, empathetic and honest and I could not recommend her highly enough. She is outstanding in her field and her ability to address past and present trauma is exceptional. I have engaged her services for years and would not be where I am today both professionally and personally without her expertise.

My family and I have been seeing Sharon for a period of 17 years. We have all benefitted greatly from her practical strategies, her empathy, her professionalism, her understanding and her ability to be able to allow us to think a little differently enabling our relationships (both with ourselves and others), to prosper and grow positively. We have seen her for a variety of reasons, sometimes together and sometimes alone. We always leave our sessions feeling very positive and ready to tackle any issue we went in with.

Sharon Marcus has been an excellent counselling psychologist for our family over many years. Through many different periods of our lives ranging from parenting, relationships, family dynamics, bereavement and many other life events, Sharon not only shows compassion and empathy, but initiates thinking about new narratives and perspectives with practical strategies. I could not recommend her more highly.

I have been seeing Sharon Marcus regularly for over 3 years. My only regret in working with Sharon is not finding her sooner. She has made such a positive difference to my life. She is always professional, incredibly patient, intelligent & kind. I would not hesitate to recommend her to family and friends.

Unfortunately I did not find ms Marcus helpful with my issues as a mother with adult children, she often would have a 'jibe' at me whilst explaining my feelings, and showed more empathy elsewhere.
I found Ms Marcus too judgemental which left me wondering if she had sufficient Life experience apart from her credentials, she was also ridged about making appointments 'her way or the highway'.

I will recommend to any of my friends who are suffering from marital or domestic problems to go seek help from Sharon Marcus! Yes, Sharon is God sent to us. Under her most professional and able guidance, we are now one happy and healthy couple/family!
We were referred to Sharon by our GP who has the highest regards for Sharon’s ability to help us when we were were heading for a possible breakup! Her ability to understand, analyse and make us both aware how we could work out our problems were amazingly practical and successful.
Sharon makes me believe that most marriages could be saved if good help is available. Highly recommend Sharon to anyone needing a good psychologist. Thank you Sharon!

Sharon has been helping me be the best I can be for more than 10-years. Sharon combines a warm and empathetic approach with a deep understanding of psychology. I highly recommend Sharon and have referred my own family, friends and colleagues to her.
