This was our first experience at Sezar and we were pleased on all counts. The service was excellent, our server was kind enough to recommend a cocktail to my liking. We shared several plates between two, the beetroot salad, braised beef rib, triple cooked chips and honey glazed carrots. Everything was cooked to perfection. The 12 layer honey cake is also a must!

Each course at Sezar was a celebration of Armenian cuisine, reimagined with a modern twist. The menu took us on a delightful journey, but a few dishes stood out exceptionally. The Spanner Crab Mantini, enveloped in a luscious yoghurt and spiced butter sauce, was a revelation. Each bite was a perfect harmony of delicate crab and rich, aromatic flavors.

The main event was the slow-roasted lamb shoulder, a dish that truly showcased the chef's mastery. The lamb, tender and flavorful, fell effortlessly off the bone, complemented exquisitely by a cherry and garlic sauce that was both unique and heartwarmingly familiar.

Our culinary adventure culminated in a dessert that redefined indulgence - a Baclava Ice Cream Sandwich. This inventive take on the classic baclava was a perfect blend of crunch, sweetness, and creamy delight, leaving us utterly satisfied yet longing for more.

What a gem tucked away in a Melbourne CBD laneway. Absolutely loved their modern take on Armenian cuisine. Our group had the banquet option with dessert and we enjoyed each and every dish as well as the cocktails and Armenian wine. To top it off the service from the whole team was really outstanding. They truly looked after us. Thank you Sezar for a great night!

That feeling of satisfaction when you're happy to pay good money for an amazing meal doesn't come along often, but Sezar delivered. Their 5 course degustation was so filling and absolutely spectacular, wine was perfect and the service was impeccable as well

My family and I have coming here for years, still to this day we say it’s one of the best restaurants in Melbourne! Always get the sharing platter which never disappoints - baklava is always delightful and service is so friendly and always has been.we enjoy sitting upstairs for the nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!

I visited Sezar with a friend who was excited to try Armenian food. Unfortunately, the service was not up to our expectations. I really hate leaving this review because I grew up on Armenian food and household however despite making a reservation and requesting to be seated on the bottom floor and calling beforehand to check … we were placed on the top floor, which was overbooked. The downstairs area was more spacious, but we were seated upstairs where we felt cramped, hot and uncomfortable. The waitress left us waiting for ages on a sticky table and it seemed like there wasn’t enough staff for the number of people there. It was overwhelming, loud and we felt ignored. I’ve been there before with different servers, and I had a fantastic time. It’s disappointing that the restaurant didn’t live up to its usual standards. I hope they can improve their service and ensure that all customers feel valued. I won’t be back but it’s so sad it’s really the only Armenian restaurant: (

Fresh food with an oriental flavour, as if you were in Beirut and the Levant. Great service

The food here is fabulous every time, the atmosphere and staff are lovely. A must try is the Kataifi wrapped lamb but every dish is delicious. Highly recommend.

Probably the best food I’ve ever eaten at that price point. Highlights were the broccoli skewers, the hummus, and the baklava ice cream. My only complaint is that there was too much food and I have no self-control.

All the food was divine, perfect temperature and taste and such nicely proportioned.the service was lovely, if you have Dom as your server, you are in luck, she is so kind and bubbly and has very good vibes, also dresses well.the service is so impeccable, you wont see an empty water glass, they’ll fill it back up before it’s empty.

Wanted to go to this restaurant as the reviews looked good but to reserve a table you have to provide your credit card details. The small print says that they can charge your credit card up to $240 for a no show if you give insufficient notice for a cancellation. Whilst I accept not giving notice of cancellation must be extremely annoying for the restaurant, there may be good reason, for example a positive COVID test, to be charged in these circumstances would just encourage bad behaviour such as eating when you know you have COVID. I expect the restaurant to say in these circumstances they wouldn’t charge, but I don’t like the idea of them having my credit card details and them deciding what is reasonable. I’d be happy to exchange credit card details with the restaurant, but doubt they’d be happy about giving me their details without knowing what they were going to be charged. Consequently, I won’t be eating at Sezar…. Shame.

The taste of the food was nice but the serving sizes were small for the price. The service was also lacking for that kind of price. There was only 2 wait staff for the whole upstairs area on a Friday night. Food was not served in good timing. Almost finished our whole meal and had to hold off eating because we’re still waiting for one of the sides. Staff was professional but curt and not accommodating to requests. There’s better middle eastern experiences in the cbd at this price point.

Dined here tonight. What can I say. The total package from what you would expect from a high end restaurant. Service was amazing! The food matched perfectly too the wine, well, that was just the cherry on top. Amazing home recipe dishes bursting with amazing flavors to take you on a journey of Lebanon. Was such an experience having wines from Lebanon as well. Never knew they made wines with such interesting complexity and body. We had the 4 course meal, and my my my portion size was very generous and flavors on point EVERY SINGLE TIME! Hummus like i have never had, broccoli was unbelievable. Lamb ribs were sooooo juicy and melt in your mouth amazing. Then dinner was chicken for the main, absolutely devine, as was the pumpkin. The baklava woooow, what a taste sensation. Was the highlight meal of our trip. Was amazing also having the owner there servicing our table and telling us his story of journey of how he started out. Incredible experience. Such a hidden little gem in this amazing place of Melbourne.

PS. If you get the hummus with browned butter. Try it's as it is and then mix the brown butter through and watch the flavours change. It's incredible!

The waitress was great and helpful, food was good, but the manager was an absolute nightmare. Disorganised booking where we were told different things, and then we were told one end of the table would be for those with dietary requirements and the other end for everyone else, the wrong food was put at the vegetarian end (by a different waiter who didn't say what was being served) - had to have one person medicated against an allergic reaction, another had to be taken to hosptial after reacting to the food, and yet the manager blamed the victim and said "that's your interpretation". No apology, not acceptance of any responsibility, and argumentative against the female customers. Worst attitude I've ever seen at a restaurant, I feel sorry for his staff members who have to apologise and make up for his lack of humanity.

Yum yum yum! Loved the food and bustling vibe at sezar.when we went every table was taken - a great sign but also made the atmosphere very loud.service was attentive but also a little slow given the busy night and seemingly new staff - but this was understandable and not all dulling of our experience! We enjoyed chatting to the newer waiter/resses and hearing about what they had and hadnt tried on the menu.the thing with mediterranean food - everything goes so well and tastes so good together - i cant fault the food.the hummus was creamy and delicious and mixed with all the food from the grilled meat to the beetroot salad (with the most incredible deep smoky flavour and burst of grapes sweetness!) was delectable.oh and the TRIPLE (!) cooked chips are a must order.cant comment on dessert as nothing tickled our fancy and we couldnt help a stroll down the cbd for an ice cream but nonetheless. YUM.thankyou Sezar!

I ordered for a vegetarian dish with restrictions specified multiple time during booking and when we placed the order for banquet, I was given something with crab and fish. This caused an allergic reaction and had to rush to emergency. The manager was very rude to one of my colleagues who made the booking for us. The food was good, but the service was not great.

We had my wife's 40th here and it was absolutely amazing. The food was next level. All our guests commented on how good the food was. The staff were super lovely and accommodated those with dietary requirements. All in all would 100% to back.

A modern Middle Eastern restaurant with two floors; the main dining area with the kitchen at the ground floor, and upstairs a dimly lit and less spacious area with a mini drink bar. They have two chef's selection options after 6: 15pm but decided to order a few dishes from the ala carte:

- Bastourma & egg; tasty bite size snack with the combination of creamy yolk and crispy brioche, savory with a little spice
- Kataifi wrapped lamb; delightful layers of crispy pastry, lamb was a little dry so definitely need the aioli
- Grilled chicken thigh skewers; flavourful seasoning with a nice char on the skin; meat was juicy and very tender
- Seared swordfish; fish was moist and tender for the most part with one end slightly overcooked. The fried potato kataifi added some crispiness to the dish. Flavour wise, the fish was too salty, even overpowering the tartar sauce
- New style baklava; walnut toffee ice cream sandwiched between flaky caramelised pastries and drizzles with salted caramel; surprisingly not too sweet, very tasty with the little bits of walnuts in the ice cream

Overall great food and service; a bit of a miss on the swordfish. For two or more people, there is more flexible ordering multiple dishes to try from the ala carte, but for single diners it might be cheaper to go with the chef's selection if you don't have any specific dishes you have to get.
