Serengeti South African Shop

Incredibly (slightly long!) story - I was going camping and had promised my friend a proper potjie - however I forgot to bring it! Imagine my surprise when a sign magically popped up along our 2.5 hr drive for a South African shop! I was truly delighted that I just happened to drive past a shop stocking not only melktart similar to my mum’s (made by the owner’s wife), biltong like from Cape Town, Simba Mrs Balls chutney chips - and so much more - BUT ALSO SOLD POTJIES! Bought a number 3 at an incredibly reasonable rate and left absolutely blown away at this incredible find - will no doubt be back with Mum in tow). Was also lovely to chat to the owners about all things Afrikaans and their tips on seasoning my new potjie. Thank you for a lovely and wonderful experience!

(P. S. The potjie that night was cooked to perfection - all layered, no stirring and carefully moderated coals - absolutely lekker!)

The owners are such lovely and friendly people. It's truly a little home away from home, where I get to buy the things I love from South Africa and speak a bit of Afrikaans.

Get great biltong and boerevors along with various South African groceries. Friendly staff with lekker coffee as well.

These guys pop off! Highly recommend. Ordered the traditional and chilli biltong, and the droewors to try. All 3 very good, recommend the chilli. Had the biltong in sliced and lean finishes. Fantastic texture, and good for day trips to bring with you. Would buy from again.
I live close, and they popped off with a next day delivery. Called me to see if I was home, this was fantastic personal service which you rarely get these days.

Staff are very friendly and helpful, cafe has great coffee and food. My husband loves the biltong and dreoweors. We enjoy going for family dinners on Friday’s for vetkoek nights.

We enjoyed an excellent cup of coffee. When chatting with staff, I mentioned that it was my mother-in-laws 91st birthday, we were presented with a complimentary milk tart. It was fabulous! Will be going back.

The Biltong is top shelf, coffee is the best in the area and the bacon & egg rolls are delicious!

If they have the trailer out front go and get yourself some fresh Vetkoek (pronounced "Fedcook" for other non South Africans). It's similar to a Sloppy Joe and will change your life. Well priced and delicious, I ate two because I have no restraint.
