Yesterday we went to this bar with three more friends. We wanted to celebrate the new year and this was the only pub we found available.we bought our tickets for $ 40 each, spending $ 160 in total. When we got to the place, the security people would not let us in, saying that we needed our passports (I am Peruvian and my other friends are also Latino). We indicated that we did not have them, however we had the ID of our countries, the driver's license of our country and their respective official translation. I am enclosing proof that this is also a form of legal identification. I am quite annoyed because before such a hard year for all of them they did not let us enter the last party of the year. We are tourists and we deserve a little consideration, I am sure that if you go to my country we would receive you with a friendly treatment and you would not need a passport to enter. We will definitely not return to this place. We also demand the return of the money we paid for this party that they did not let us enter.

I guess it is the review stars that guide tourists to visit this place.

Good atmosphere: The music is lovely at a comfortable level. The decor is cultural and enjoyable for viewing.

The pasta of Italian sausage is served with a good amount. Amazing taste! The only critique is perhaps a few pasta were stuck together.

The pizza with zucchini was a great choice to go with a glass of red wine.

It's a great place to go with your friends.
I would award this restaurant with a A+ mark.

Something different in town. Good Irish feel. Young crowd later in night, better during day. Nice sitting outside street setting

Lovely staff inside but security outside were rude and unhelpful. Would barely look or talk to us as we asked if there was a table free. A pity!

Needs some maintenance. The graffiti around the place might be invisible in the dark, but while the sun is up this place is a dumpster fire.

I absolutely love this place! Great atmosphere, delicious food and very welcoming staff! Definitely makes the long drive down from Melbourne worth while.

Nice beer drink in this great Irish bar, and they have a dancing pool open on weekend night after 10pm.
A pint of beer cost 7.5-9AUD, have a bit price. But the atmosphere inside was excellent for relaxing, dancing and having a fun time. After 10pm you have to pay 10-15AUD entrance fee, so you can get in before to save that money and buy two more beer!

Very nice service and good choice of reasonably priced drinks. Inside you'll find pleasant deco all over and upstairs there is air conditioned beer garden too. Very handy on super hot days.

I don’t enjoy writing reviews like this, but since my experience was so utterly awful I feel I need to share it as a warning to others.

My entire friend-group and I decided we would head to Seanchai to dance and have a good time. Several of us were leaving in the following week, so one big night out together was going to be the best send-off.

We all got ready to go out, I actually spent 3 hours getting ready for this as I wanted to make sure I was well-dressed for the occasion.

Upon arriving at the establishment we stood outside and chatted for a bit while we waited for a few of our friends to catch up, the bouncers even spoke to us and could see that we were in a group together.

When everyone had arrived we lined up with our ID to enter the bar, the bouncers admitted four of my friends and then stopped me, they told me that I could not enter the bar because of the shoes I was wearing.

I was born with a condition that had left the bones in my feet poorly-structured and after surgery and therapy I had been given a pair of specialised sandals to wear as they fix my foot posture and allow my feet to heal correctly. They are not thongs, they are not flip flops. They are sandals with numerous straps wrapping all around my feet, protecting them.

I explained my foot condition to the bouncers and they very abruptly cut me off and threatened harm to me. I am completely confused as to why my peaceful response warranted such an aggressive and inappropriate reaction. It was incredibly upsetting and it made me feel unsafe, which is something that security guards are meant to prevent.

My female friends asked if their shoes were okay, they were wearing thongs with one or two extra straps. The bouncers said their shoes were fine and stuttered as they tried to justify it with some reason about the structural integrity of their shoes. It became clear to me that this was discrimination, me being Male and Gay and they being Female meant they would be allowed in and I wouldn’t.

I have never experienced true prejudice until I came to Australia, but it is alive and well. The bouncers kept referring to my female friends as “babe” which was very condescending. They told me I am probably a drinker and am an irresponsible jerk, I do not drink alcohol, nor have I done for over a year. All I wanted to do was dance and have a good time as I’ve heard that this bar is great.

I also cannot understand the logic behind the shoes rule anyway, since this is a seaside town and a holiday destination. I had no issues with my therapeutic-sandals in Byron Bay or Mildura.

To add insult to injury four of our friends had paid to enter and were already inside, they had to come out and be out of pocket. The bouncers knew we were all together but I suppose they just wanted to make the bar an extra 40 dollars.

One of my friends who had paid came out to see what was happening and then re-entered, she was violently grabbed by a female member of staff who screamed at her demanding 10 dollars. You couldn’t make this kind of mistreatment up, honestly.

I made wonderful friends in this place, I planned to go out with them as a last goodbye. But all I got was discrimination on several levels, threatened with bodily harm and incredible upset and guilt as two narcissistic bouncers ruined our night out and scammed our friends out of cash in the process.

Yo I like this place a lot it's fun to come to dance and I always have a good time. Downstairs is awesome for the lineup they've got in such a small town. I'm very impressed. I want to drop a note to the upstairs DJs. Song content is fine I love the hip hop but as someone who genuinely likes to get down you all are transitioning your songs WAY too fast most of the time I'm there. It seems like the song switches every 30 seconds. I get it, I spin too, transitioning is fun, but I feel like the greater picture of the dance floor is a bit lost. The transitions are a bit shaky anyhow so it's a bit hard to follow when dancing. My advice is let the songs ride for a bit so we can actually get into it. Watch the crowd a bit more and feel what they are feeling. If people start dancing let it go.
I hope this doesn't come off as more critical than I mean. I really think the upstairs dancing could be a bit more on point with just a little more attention and a little less ADD on the mixer. Cheers y'all super appreciate the spot.

Decent beers and vibe. Best thing is that you can order a pizza at bojangles across the Rd and its delivered to your table!

Good place for a fun night out with mates and having a drink.
The atmosphere on a Saturday night is buzzing and full of energy, a nice way to experience the nightlife of Warrnambool.

Good place for a night out in Warrnambool. Went with a group of friends and it was good fun having a couple of drinks. Big mix of people which was different but cool.

The one thing everyone recommended I check out while in Warrnambool was the Seanchai Irish pub, saying that it was the place that all of Warrnambool gets together to have a drink after a hard week's work.
Well with 2 storeys jam packed full of fun and dancing, they were not wrong!
Many drinks were had and many friends were made.
Pool tables, beer garden, live music and insanely friendly staff make this a must visit Warrnambool hotspot!

Always good fun at the Shan. New owners gutted the joint a few years back which was a shame because it hardly resembled an Irish pub anymore but the new second level is pretty tops and the staff and security are always friendly.

My local when i am in Warrnambool and first place i ever went when i turned 18 sp i have a soft spot for it! Can go for a quiet cocktail a few beers or a dance, and now that the upstairs 'club' area is open on saturdays you can have a real rager! With their license extended untill 3am on weekends it's definatly the place to be with a broad age group, always have good music and food is available from a neat littlw restaurant opposite which will be bought over to you while you enjoy a pint of Guinness or furpheys
Best place to drink in warrnambool
Sometimes the security can be a bit ridiculous (i didnt get let in and i was deso driver.) but mostly really good
Only thing to improve the atmosphere would be a dress code aka no caps on inside and on saturday nights tighter on thongs and shorts. Drinks are a littlw over priced for a small town also
But always helpful staff and a great place yo dance deep into the night and meet new people or catchup with old friends
Place to be fridays and saturdays
They always reply by facebook so message there for more info

I love my bars and this is on of the finest places I have ever been. Great location awesome staff and the layout is perfect mostly open with noks and granny's (on porpous) with local charm but still welcoming of outsiders this is a winner. They don't do food but will let you bring in a meal any of the nearby restaurants (being in the heart of town this is a fantastic choice if you and lovely lady can't agree on a meal).

Great service, incredibly friendly staff, and one of the politest bouncers that I have ever met on my explorations of the world's night spot. Highly recommend.

Very nice, reading rooms, comfy chairs, books, low lighting. The beer was more expensive than average though at $11 for a pint
