Sandy's Fish & Chips

This place has the best fish in batter I have bought in the area. Delicious! The potato cake too was really good and chips were fine. I would recommend taking your own napkins, lemon juice and extra salt if you are taking your yummy meal directly to the beach. I DO recommend this place as the food really is of a good standard.

Absolute garbage. Cannot believe they remain in business. Most disgusting fish and chips I have had in my entire life.

We ordered minimum chips ($5) and received a sizeable serve that were cooked perfectly and well salted. Service was super quick and staff seemed friendly.

My family and I were disappointed and disgusted at the quality of hamburgers souvlaki dim sims. The food was obviously stale meat in hamburger very dark and leather like. There was no tomato on the chicken souvlaki and chicken stale the food was dry and overcooked. Needless to say we will not be returning ever to this shop

This place is a joke.

We placed our order at 6: 55pm and we didn't get our order until 8: 10pm.

This wasn't just us. Everyone else who ordered around 7pm had the same experience.

They prioritised all online orders/delivery than the ones that they've taken payment from in store.

Not only the wait was atrocious, but also the food.

Fish was grossly over oiled with no flavour, potato cake tasted like preservatives or plastic or oil, chips was yuck and stale.

The only thing that was okay was maybe the dim sim and the calamari ring

Overall, this place is a joke. Horrible service, no system in place to take orders. We saw them do about 8-10 ubereats/Doordash order before someone in the shop got their food.

Food is disgusting. No thanks ever again.

First visit ever, our regular fish n chips is closed over Xmas. Didn't order much $28 for 2, your regular grilled fish, potatoe cakes, dimmies and crab sticks. Was more expensive than our shop, batter was thin and crispy oil was clean to, but didn't get our chicken salt.

Unfriendly staff, no salt or chicken salt on potato chips, potato chips had no flavour whatsoever, they also charge 50 cents for one tomato ketchup, no lemon, disappointments after disappointments. Multiple customers that came after me got their foods before I did. In addition to this, the staff completely ignored my request and was very rude. Waited 20 minutes for fish and chips just to waste majority of it.

The worst camp ever we had to sit there for 2 hours. This made me bored for so long and this went on for 3 days. It was pointless but i do have too give credits to the teachers trying their best to give us the camp that we couldn’t go to.

The worst fish & chips shop i've ever been too. The service took forever- we waited exactly an hour for those pathetic tasting, super oily fish and chips. Pretty sure the place reuses their oil and thus such weird tasting chips.
Also what a shame, waited an hour (ordered at 8 pm and food was ready at 9pm finally). Would have been understandable if the quality and standard of the food was up to the mark but nope, this place simply serves the worst fish and chips- there was neither lemon wedges nor salt in the chips whatsoever!
Avoid this place at all cost. I would never revisit.

Yep grab a parcel of and chips head down to the beach only 5mins walk sit down enjoy anyway ya can also eat there in front of the Shop very nice atmosphere

Was ordering for 8 people and asked for the suggested amount of chips for 8 people, originally I figured it wasn't enough but it turned out to be more than enough for us all. Very happy with our service and the free drinks we were given with our large order

Grabbed a couple's pack and ate at outside tables, food was delicious and even a couple of people passing by said it looked delicious. Will definitely be back again soon.

Family has been sick as after getting flake and chips. For starters tasted of old oil. By time got home to Hampton from beach front the queezies started. Some violently ill and still sleeping 5pm next day

Quality of produce very good friendly staff but premises needs up date and a good clean presentation means everything

Good value. Friendly service. This suburban strip fish and chip shop is also very close to the beach so sometimes gets VERY busy on public holidays but normally is quiet.

Will not return. Asked for grilled fish, came with what I would describe as a batter. No seasoning on fish. Rest was below average, except the south melb dimmy (because not made by them!) Pineapple fritter was ok. But all in all, very disappointing Sandy.

Bought large order of fish chips. Spring roll and seafood sticks.
Batter was overcooked on outside, oily on inside. Fish were undercooked, spring roll was burnt on outside, mushy oily inside and not edible. Chips were cooked in same oil and oil appeared to be months old as chips came out yellow.
Could not eat very much.
Would not recommend this place and won't return.

Basic service From staff but the food is what you’re there for & it’s consistently great food

This operation they claim to be a Fish and Shop should be shut down. I went there with my family on 01/01/22 (order no. 100). Ordered 3 x grilled Blue Grenadier (no salt) and 1 x medium chips (no salt). Everything was laced in salt, strange thick batter around the fish for grilled, and the chips – SAY no more. One of the worst chips I have every experienced in my life.
It is clear that the oil has not been replaced in many weeks, and it is of the cheapest / lowest grade standard.
This operation is a total disgrace to serve up this standard, and the level of health damage this would have done if we ate them all would be severe.
Stay away, and my message to the owners is pickup your game significantly! If you can’t work out how to make chips you shouldn’t be in this game.
