I think I’d need more time to explore this Cambodian restaurant located in a little corner on a small lane near Melbourne Central. Their service is superb, for sure. I had the noodles with beef & beef balls to kick start my food journey here in this restaurant that combines different South East Asian cultures & flavours into their Cambodian dishes.

Great service and amazing food! Highly recommend for uni students or travelers! The price is great for the generous portion and with rice they even come with a beef soup!

Samut is a casual Cambodian restaurant located in Melbourne’s CBD. The venue is small and narrow, covering in fun, colourful neon signs and simple metal tables. The menu is inspired by the owners love of street food in Cambodia.

I am not well versed in the cuisine because it is so underrepresented in Melbourne. Nevertheless, everything felt authentic, very tasty and extremely well priced. To drink, they have a range of non-alcoholic options.

Our favourite was the Stir Fried Noodles and the Fried Pork on Rice which also came with a small bowl of pork soup, as did the Boneless Chicken on Rice. Both were nice and crispy but the pieces were tiny.

The Bay Ko Dot sizzling beef hit on flavour, and was slightly sweet. Unfortunately the fried egg was undercooked. The Papaya Salad with Pork Skin was another hit, spicy and refreshing at the same time.

We dined for lunch but there are more optons for dinner so we will definitely be back to try some more. An affordable option in the CBD. They also utilise Mr. Yum so you can order via QR code.

Beautiful food. I’ve been there several times and had the Kho Ko and braised pork, both were delicious! Love the decor and Khmer music playing.

If you love fried rice, you have to get their seafood fried rice. It’s only $15 and one of the best fried rice we’ve ever had. The deep-fried enoki and stir-fried squid were also amazing. The only downside is no alcohol or BYO.

Please…. Do your meal preps and roster enough staffs, and please stop playing Chinese songs. Seriously, I know you guys speak Chinese which is cool. I do too. But I don’t want to sit in a Cambodian restaurant that is trying to promote authentic cuisines but at the same time playing random Chinese songs. Don’t attach Lok ta sin sisamoth or vannda photos or albums on the wall If you do that, it is a shame!

Use common sense when delivering foods, and pay close attentions to all customers at the tables. If you are focusing on take away, don’t open the dining in.

My friend has recommended me to try Cambodian food there. This was my first time trying Cambodian food, the taste is superb. I’ve ordered Fried chicken on chicken rice which is soooo good. Sadly, it doesn’t come with egg. But you can pay extra for it if you want. Recommend this place if you don’t know what to have for your lunch.

I came to eat with my friend, don’t really expect it was that’s good. The food is authentic, the vibe had brought me back to cambodia.

The food tasted really good, really like atmosphere, will be great if they got alcohol too.definitely come back!

The service is good as well as the vibe. I like the music and the food is also great. Price is affordable.

Tried out this newish place in the city with my cambodian hubby and he says it's good and authentic. We had the noodles in soup and dry version of pork.
Will be back to try other things on the menu.
Lunch is limited but the dinner menu has more variety from whole fish to BBQ and hotpot.

Went there several times. The foods was good but the problem is the service. The staff one with the glasses on, she was so rude and arrogant. You need to smile more! Unacceptable!

Just found this place to become my lunch break after school. The prices is affordable for student, love the taste and will come back for sure.

Words can’t describe how incredible the food at Samut is! The kreung snail was truly the star of the show, all the other dishes were amazing too, we’ll be back for sure. Thanks for existing, Samut!

Good taste, and the environment is very chilling. Everything is good, some staff are very nice and sweet, there is one little guy who so friendly. Except for one girl wearing glasses, I’ve been there 4 times and saw her there all the time, her attitude and the way she talks to customers is rude, and extremely poor attitude. I just finished works and school at the same time, was so hungry, and about to have good times. And she ruined my day. But if she happens to be a boss or manager, should’ve acknowledged better in hospitality and customer service and how to be humble. We all had work and got money to pay!

Recommend if you like Asian cuisine. The food was really good. Fast service / catchy music and atmosphere.
