Sakura Kaiten Sushi II reviews
64The girl in glasses is the rudest waitress I have ever seen, especially to Asian customers that are not Japanese
Terrible service. Make feel so uncomfortable asking ginger. Totally ruined my experience. Not recommended.whoever the owner needs to replace staffs. 2 females here ruining reputation.
Sushi would be a 3 or even a 4, but the service was pretty rude and I would definitely not expect something like this from Japanese hospitality.
We were queueing outside and the lady came to us only to say that we were queueing on the wrong side, not saying anything about waiting times nor acknowledging/welcoming us.
Once seated, another lady came to us only to say that we placed a plate in the wrong way on the table, and did not take the chance to ask if everything was good and did not even offer water.
Moreover, the staff kept talking among each other thinking that just because someone looks Western they do not understand Japanese. Well, unfortunately for you, I do.
I will not come back as Melbourne is full of sushi train restaurants, with the same or better sushi quality, and for sure friendlier staff.
Great range of fresh sushi etc presented beautifully. Quick, funky, quality lunch on the go. Ate in, ate our fill, and gone inside 30-45 mins. Better than the run of the mill places without the full on restaurant pomp and price. Recommended.
There were 2 floor staffs at 4: 00pm 15/10/2023, one is a girl with bun hair and another is a guy (newbie probably). The bun hair girl was very rude and acted like her period is coming. When we got to the table, we had lot of stuff after shopping, therefore my little sister used one of the spare chairs behind where no customers or tables (because we sat next to bench) to put some of the bags on and some bags left on the floor. Then the girl came without saying anything, grabbed the chair with an aggressive attitude and as if we stole things in the shop.
Next, we had 5 ppl, instead of arranging seats for customers, she commanded that i (the fifth person) was not allowed to sit on the rear of the table because that would block the aisle. I dont know why she behaved like that, if you think there was no table for 5ppl, then dont take customers in and treat us with that rude attitude.
Third, when I asked her for one more pair of chopsticks because the previous one got dirty, she told us that she already gave us 5 pairs initially and acted like why we asked for an extra. I thought i was asking for a golden chopsticks but actually the chopsticks here are disposable bamboo ones and the cost of them are very cheap. And I replied her that i only asked one and thought in my mind that this is even made from bamboo not golden. And I was very shocked with her reaction when customers asked for a disposable chopsticks. This is a very first time in my life facing this situation. Maybe the owner is very selfish and stingy so this is probably their culture. Now i am wondering whether the food or chopsticks and plates are also reused or quickly wipe behind the scenes due to costs saving.
Lastly when I asked for ginger, she was hesitant and said that she already gave us. Oh my god, the price here is not that low, and you counted every single slice of ginger with customers.
My mood was completely dropped after all these things happened.and I cannot feel the food tasty anymore. I just stopped eating and decided to finish our meal earlier.
Really bad and aggressive services and food quality is not as great compared to Sushi Tetsujin in Emporium. I came here due to a recommendation of my friend, otherwise I still picked Tetsujin again.
Maybe we came at 3: 30pm so they didn’t want to put more fresh items on the train. Really limited options as no customers grabbed low-cost sushi rolls therefore those plates just stayed on the train for ages and it reduced the freshness and attraction of their products.
Never come back and hopefully the manager or owner will take action to enhance their services. Food quality is not their competitive advantage already, now including poor customer services, at the moment the place is a disaster.
I come here rather often for lunch or dinner, the sushi is very fresh and you can also order hot meal items via the ipad.its a bit cramped to make room for tables and sushi train.decent priced and is clean!
One of the best sushi train spots in Melbourne CBD. Expect long queue for a table during rush hours. Their sushi is alway freshly made with high quality ingredients topped with yummy sauces and seasoning. Pricing is reasonable for the location.
Foods are ok but service is terrible. All staff looked impatient and annoyed when we asked for help. Would not come back again
Busy place on a Saturday night for good reason. Excellent selection of reasonably priced sushi & other Japanese dishes. And you can also order other dishes if you want to.
The sushi was okay but quite expensive. Prices are not displayed. Not sure if it's worth it.
The service wasn't great, and I suspect they use MSG because I got very sick right after eating.
Super good sushi in the city, small so you will probably have to line up to get in, but worth it for really excellent food for a reasonable price
This sushi train feels pretty authentic! It’s small but cute and the staff are nice. I wasn’t a fan of the fried chicken but everything else was yum.
Sushi train!

: Are you one for sushi trains? I definitely am! Sakura Kaiten is one of the classics I turn to when it comes to my sushi cravings. One dangerous thing is that the bill comes out way more than expected every time I eat sushi trains because I just want to keep grabbing more!
Used to be significantly better but have recently dropped in terms of quality of the food, I used to love this restaurant so much and would have easily given a 4.5-5/5 previously but the disappointment has led me to writing this in hoping they will read and improve. The recent experience:
- platters on the sushi train no longer covered, or in drips and drabs with some covered and some none and I noted a small fly trying to help themselves with one of the opened ones
- No Tuna sashimi for the day which was very disappointing for a sushi restaurant
- Salmon sashi/rice felt like it was out of the fridge, cold and clammy; for a high turnover item, surely it cannot be that cold that quickly either
- takoyaki now feels like deep fried balls with no katsuobushi/bonito flakes
- salmon sashimi felt slightly out of the fridge for too long and starting to turn.
Used to be able to feel the chef put their love into the food and it used to always felt quality even though it may have been sitting on the train for a while, nowadays it’s hard for me to leave any compliments and the only thing that is probably still ok is the variety on some of the sushi they offer (even that has reduced).
This is a really cool restaurant in the city, the restaurant isnt huge but really really cosy.
Love the sushi, taste really original, not something fancy or normal, the sushi seem basic, but taste really yum. Worth it.
Love the service, they are really polite and sweet.
The food is very good, we have been going there for over 5 years, however today lunch experience was different. The two waitresses were arrogant and not friendly at all. The music was so annoying and loud. We spent nearly $200 for one hour. Very disappointed today!
I love the variety of seafood available here compared to other sushi train places. Price is okay, place is a bit chaotic as I think they are always understaffed. They have changed to 1 hour limit restriction for seating which I don’t actually mind to be honest. That keeps the queue moving faster.
We went for my sons birthday dinner. A lot of the same food. So you need to order a lot to get anything different. So your time slot goes by quick because of the waiting. Food wasn't bad. You can't make a booking. But I contacted the restaurant the day before as there were 8 of us. I was told no problem as we were coming in at 5. But when we arrived we were told they couldn't seat 8 people together. And we had to separate. Very frustrating. I wouldn't go back again. Staff were also very rude and dismissive, until I went to pay because I was paying for two tables and had a huge bill.
Although there’s a line sometimes, always worth the wait. Best sushi I’ve had in Melbourne.
Good, i liked it:). Cosy little place, we lined up for five minutes till there was a table available for two. Nice staff.
