Sailor's Grave Brewing reviews
22Hidden gem out the back of Orbost with occasional buskers and bands. Beautiful spot on a sunny afternoon.
I just tried their ‘peach melba pavlova cream sour’ and OMFG… was actually the best. Love the beer, love the art, love the vibe. Keep up the good work, can’t wait to visit the actual brewery.
Not the best brewery experience but different.
The beer selection was not great, the bartender was not very knowledgeable and there were not many people but it was a good chill place to sit down after a long day/drive.
Easily one of the quirkiest, most oddball breweries in Victoria, if not Australia. Their beers are absolutely one of our favourites. Some of the varieties they brew either has you scratching your head or laughing at the crazy combinations. I would say it is a case of 90% hit, and 10% miss. Highly recommended doesn't come close to someone trying them. Also love the artwork on the cans.
Love a bit of foraging so when my brother recommended this I couldn’t resist! Loved the citrus flavours of the uni, Down She Gose is too easy to drink- lovely salty after taste and the family favourite- Lemon Meringue Pie. Really enjoyed the different approach to the a local brew. Very unique artwork on the cans.
Lovely beer garden and bespoke brewery located in the ruin of an early 20th Can butter factory, the rear of which looks out over the Snowy River. Interesting range of brews and Chris and Gabby are great hosts. Definitely worth a look if you are in Orbost.
Finally got to sample the legendary Sailor's Grave IPA at the source which is the old butter factory in Orbost. A beer garden at the rear affords the opportunity to laze away the afternoon under umbrellas watching the waters of the much celebrated Snowy River flow down to the sea.
I like my beers and I must say sailors grave IPA is the best I've had in a long time.
Very impressive.
Love your work.
Hosted the fantastic Nowa Nowa Mens Choir. We had a great time, enjoyed the singing, the beers and the beautiful open air. Excellence.
Good job with the recent Deep in the Weeds festival guys. Beer, music, food and atmosphere, all awesome
Fantastic visit and enjoyed some amazing beers on tap. Dark Emu is a big favourite. Picked up a mixed case of the seasonal brews, to enjoy at home. Fantastic views from the beer garden.
Quirky delicious beer. I've been buying Sailors grave beer for ages. This was the first time visiting the cellar door. Will definitely be back. The atmosphere is amazing, it's mostly outdoor venue so dress according to the weather conditions.
Chill little brewery with good beats pumping. We were there on a Saturday and there wasn’t too many people. The beers were good especially the lemon meringue sour. There is no food so it’s BYOF, recommend popping into Orbost and grabbing something local to support the town. Pets are welcome and there’s a good view into the farmland next door. I would go back if I was passing through the area again.
Brilliant. Fantastic selection of unusual beers. Lovely setting. Tasting paddle available so you can try them all. Highly recommend the stout…and that’s coming from a non-stout drinker!
I don’t know any of the people involved in this, nor have I been here. But I aim to change both of those faults of mine. Some of the most interesting beer around right now for me. Interesting, and delicious. Love your work!
EDIT.
Couple years later, finally made it. Great staff, great beer, great location.
Food truck sealed the deal.
Great little brewery with cellar door and great veiw, superb beer and proper ales (and that's from a brit). Recommended.
Sailor’s Grave is a must place to visit, in South East Gippsland, whether travelling through or staying in Orbost or nearby and set along the Snowy River. The beer is exceptional. You can get a tasting paddle and see which one is to your liking. Personally I really enjoyed the Drowned Man IPA. Went down so well on humid summers day. Dogs are welcome here too.
Great beer selection at the new cellar door. Cheese plate goes down the hatch well with a tasting paddle. I’ll be back again! Also high quality bar mats
The beer is good but I wont buy them again from a company that associates with Bruce Pascoe, he is not one of us and insults our history with his blatent lies.
