Food was absolutely delicious. Couldn't fault it. A must try are they wings and the pork belly!

This place is easy to miss as there's not clear signage outside of place being called RUE DE THANH. Nice, clean inside and service was quick and attentive.
Loved that the mains is of sharing portions. The pork belly was my absolutely favourite with the sauce being tasty.
Feedback on the FOD (grilled whole fish) is the sweet potato beneath wasn't tasty at all- unsure if it's a spice that is put into it or the sweet potato itself.
Also had the mini pancakes- this would be best served as a plate sized pancake to make it more authentically Vietnamese.
Restaurant has some room for improvement to match the quality for its pricing. I would come back again to try other dishes!

We had the Street Eats Course and it was such a beautiful, intimate and delicious experience.
Was feeling quite full & happy by the end of the night. Will definitely come back.

Love this Restaurant. Great food and service. Loved the pancakes, scallops, ceviche, sticky wings, duck.all of it really! 3rd visit and coming back for more.

Food wasn't bad but wasn't amazing either. The reason it is getting only 2 star of because of the attitude of the waitress. On their menu it quoted half dozen oyster for $24. I used my finger to point out everything we ordered. When a dozen arrived I told them I only ordered the half dozen as per menu. They refused to take it back saying she repeated the order and I didn't pick up that she said a dozen. Music was very loud. It's not as if they had to cook the oysters.

We chose the 'Feed Me' option. Great value for excellent food. Fresh and complex flavours. The service was attentive and friendly. Will definitely be back to try other items on the menu. Cocktails also hit the spot.

This was a surprise. Beautifully fresh food with traditional ingredients and with modern flare. Not at all your standard Vietnamese restaurant. We found the cocktails were good too.
The stand out dishes were the turmeric and coconut prawn pancakes and the scallops in celeriac. With the mains, the pork belly was superbly tender and the stock it sat in was addictive. The proprietor, Thanh is passionate about the food and always up for a chat.

We really enjoyed our meal at Rue de Thanh. We had the rice paper rolls, mini pancakes, the whole fish, pork belly and roast chicken. All of the food was nicely balanced, flavoursome and with generous proportions. Service was friendly and prompt. We will definitely be back

This place was highly recommended to us by relatives and were not disappointed - you know you’re on a winner when the waitress memorised the share order for 4 people.
Very attentive and welcoming service and good help with selecting quantities. The food was amazing, firstly there are none of the old standards, most dishes are unique and wonderfully combined - every dish we had was delicious and produced with fresh, quality ingredients. Excellent experience, would recommend it to anyone…vegetarians and gluten free are not compromised.

My husband and I had a lovely evening and we would like to thank the staff for their exceptional service. The food is freshest and yummy with flavour. We thoroughly enjoyed it and there wasn't a single complaint. We will make sure we plan our next “do” there again. We highly recommend this restaurant

Being someone who can be super fussy when it comes to good food & customer service I can’t fault this place on anything! The food, quality & presentation is absolutely amazing! The food is 5 star quality & I’ve been there a few times now & there’s not 1 dish my husband & I haven’t loved! The staff & very warm & attentive & the wait for food isn’t long. Can’t wait to come back!

Rue De Thanh is a Fresh inspired Vietnamese restaurant located on Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. It opened earlier this year by owner Thanh Tran with 20 years restaurant experience, the name itself translates to “Thanh’s Street”.

The menu offers A La Carte or a selection of different set menu options. ‘Feed Me’, with market fresh seafood and Vietnamese street eats served with Jasmine rice and Vietnamese slaw for $75pp. ‘Leave It To Us’ a selection of house favourite appetisers, smalls, mains and sides for $65pp. Finally, the one we came for, the ‘Street Eats’ Experience, 8-9 courses of seafood and meat (dietaries welcomed) at the Chefs Table for $95pp - this must be pre-booked 24 hours prior.

Thanh himself is your chef for the night, he is super enthusiastic, good for a laugh and very proud of this passion project. Each dish is designed to either enjoy by itself or wrapped in fresh rice paper, lettuce and herbs. Personally I suck with the fiddle-y stuff, so i ate most of the items on their own, which allowed to me properly appreciate the cook and quality of what was presented to us.

Each dish is cooked over coals, to perfection, with a tiny bit of onion oil, nothing to overpower. He gets everything fresh from the market and can vary based on seasonality and availability. Standout dishes were the Beef Wrapped in Betel Leaf (very authentic to what I tried in Vietnam), the Pork Mince on Lemongrass and the Pork Loin. ️

We had a great time and left with full bellies. Anything we wanted more of, we could request (adding to the value) but honestly we didn’t need it. It was nice to see the fun, cheeky relationship of all the staff who got along well with each other in the kitchen. Absolutely would recommend this spot, I will return to try more off the A La Carte but I think the Street Eats Experience makes a fantastic date night or even gift idea for a foodie!
