RSPCA Bendigo reviews
47 Five stars for the work in rehoming animals.
-2 stars for my experience. I rang today at 1.30 pm to make an appointment to a adopt an adult cat. My appointment was to be 3.00 pm. I went to a pet shop to purchase cat toys, bedding, bowls already having food at home from my other cat. I only just back in the car at about 2.15 when my phone rang telling me the cat was no longer available had just been adopted. Don’t get me wrong. I’m happy that the cat has a new home whether it be me or someone else. The system needs reforming. I know at the Campaspe shelter in Echuca their system is much fairer. If you ring to adopt a certain animal and someone previously has rang to make an appointment they tell you this and will ring you if the adoption doesn’t go through. So you don’t expect the animal will be yours. BARC, please consider this approach. Would have saved me from being upset thinking I should have a new cat that would be a beautiful addition to our family lifestyle in an hours time.
Very kind and caring staff, looked after my last dog until I could pick her up and staff very up to date with website information on lost animals. Very thankful for them.
We got our delightful boy from BARC.
The staff show so much love and compassion towards the animals surrendered
Staff are friendly and open to discuss the animals needing homes and needs of the prospective adopters. We were given all the time we needed to decide what we wanted to do. We were fortunate that the fur baby we wanted worked out for us. We have a new family member!
We adopted Harley last year and we just adopted Macca on Sunday. He's a wonderful addition to our family and they are wonderful company while I work. Inexpensive and great, patient service by the staff.
Facility looked inviting and clean, but found staff member who dealt with us very rude. We were making an initial inquiry about making a time to see a potental new pet and left feeling uncomfortable and angry with how we were spoken too. Very disappointed.
Got my dog from there, they're really friendly staff and will help you with the right match for what you're looking for and if you have any other pets will make sure all is well with whatever animal you're going for and your current pet. However, there was an extra price on the day I went to pay for the adoption that I was not told before hand and wasn't stated anywhere on the website that extra fees would apply so a bit disappointed and frustrated in that matter.
Me and my partner got a dog from here they told us not destructive and good with cats within the first 8 hours of having the dog it chewed its way through a door and tried to attack our cat on top of that the dog has severe separation anxiety and cannot be left alone for more then 5 minutes without crying non-stop for hours these are all questions we asked before buying the dog and they lied to us just to get rid of the dog
Recently adopted a new feline friend into our family, the staff are so patient and understanding. Beyond supportive when making the decision in which animal is going to fit in best with which family. Definitely will be back when it’s time to add another furry friend to our ever-growing pack! (Silvia’s adopted fur ever family) ️️
Absolutely apauling & most UNPROFESSIONAL staff AND most of all also most unprofessional animal shelter ever to exist in mel MAYBE even Victoria
They were very good with all the questions we had and when the time came to bring the lost kitten to them, we were assured the kitten would go to a good home.
I adopted two cats. Brother and sister who are everything someone could want in a pet. Staff are friendly and thorough with the adoption process
They’re not a No kill shelter but they have a huge number of animals that they found homes for or fostered and they do care. Always grateful to receive blankets etc. I feel they should be more out in the community as they are not often seen around the traps. They are well deserving of more super. Clean stalls. Love that animals. Do their best.
Such a pleasure to meet the staff and their commitment to their animal friends. If you want to look at adopting an animal it is by appointment only. NO walk ins at the moment. All in formation is on their website so please book before arrival. Donations of food or bedding items can be left out the front.
At first they said they could help me to re-home four kittens, then sent me a text a couple of days later saying they couldn't help and "try someone else". If you couldn't help in the first place, don't say you can.
The staff there were very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. My dog escaped my yard and they were not judgemental at all.
Very responsible shelter and they treat the animals very well. Very friendly and helpful staff! We adopted our boy Stanley and couldn’t be happier.
BARC were incredibly helpful with great advice. We were a bit too slow in deciding and missed out on the dog we all loved. Everyone there was so welcoming and their love and care for their rescue animals was very evident.
Take animals that are grabbed from the ranger off fences.charging exorbitant prices to get them back.how dare u have the audacity to call yourselves a rescue centre.stealing people's pets is NOT RESCUING them.over $ 200 to get an adored pet back.organised crime is what it is, no wonder the RSPCA REMOVED themselves from ur con of a business.keep ur animals inside let them out to the toilet and these ppl are waiting to catch and sell them. Deplorable
We just picked up our beautiful girl Tilly from BARC. The staff are professional and caring. The premises are clean and the animals are well looked after.
Adopt don't shop ️
