The food was really nice and staff very friendly but the place needs quite a makeover to create a nicer vibe & compete amongst the various bars in the area

The Royal Saxon was a perfect venue for my 21st birthday celebration. Dan and the team were extremely helpful, the food was amazing and everyone had a fabulous time.

Ally from this venue is such a great manager and we’re really satisfied with her venue and her services. Highly recommend

Great venue for a birthday party. Booking through the website was easy. The downstairs seating was perfect for a larger group, great DJ and the option to be waited on or order through the QR code.

Long lunch for 4 boys. Great atmosphere whilst in the restaurant design made it feel we were half outside perfect on a nice day. Food wine & beer range & quality excellent. We were there there for a well behaved 5 hours & pleasingly there wasn't the tiresome attempt to get us to leave the table until we were ready to go.

We had to last minute change our venue for our daughters 1st Birthday due to rain & the Saxon was so accommodating & helpful & went out of their way to assist us with an area that suited our party. The staff were so lovely on the day and we had a really fun day / night.

Great atmosphere created by professional and friendly staff, physical setting was welcoming and the other patrons made it a good evening for my family to enjoy a night out and a meal. And the meals were terrific too!

Organised a farewell for a work colleague on a Friday night. Dan (Functions Manager) was super helpful with booking arrangements. On the night, Finger food and Pizzas were perfect. Easy to set up a bar tab and the DJ played awesome tunes. We all had a great night. Thanks Royal Saxon, we will be back again soon.

Loved the atmosphere and open air courtyard. Really cool place. Great for after work drinks. Share plates of food were amazing!

Unfortunately there was a mix up and I ended up paying for another tables drinks. Ours never turned up. Staff were apologetic but it’s a shame I’m out of pocket. Probably wouldn’t come back.

Came in for a drink and some food with the work team last week and I can safely say it's some of the best service we've had from similar venues. Super friendly staff, great offering and well-priced. Atmosphere was great too - good mix of people, music was bang on.and I'm psyched to hear they're starting blues on Thursdays soon. Worth checking it out!

The RoyalSaxon is a great venue for lunch and the food as always was excellent. However using the QR system for ordering for a table of 4 became quite tedious. As 2 couples trying to lunch together our meals arrived 20 minutes apart. Ordering drinks separately each time was quite annoying.
Also to be told there was no milk to make coffee doesn’t cut it. Hopefully this can all be improved upon.

Royal Saxon NYE was awesome. Plenty of tasty food, loads of drinks and a fantastic DJ smashing out great tunes. The staff were helpful, attentive and it was a well run night!

Gorgeous place with great food and drinks. The staff are efficient and kind, and the place has enough seating that you won't clash with others. Bathrooms are clean as well. Slightly on the expensive side for a student budget but definitely worth a try.

Went there for an impromptu catch-up with work colleagues. Despite there being a few functions on the team were able to provide us with a nice quieter table outside where we could catchup.
Everyone’s raves about their pizzas and I tried most of them including the vegan porcini which was superb. The crust is out of this world good. My colleague highly rated the fried chicken baos as well.
Cocktails were lovely and all the staff friendly. Food all came out in a timely manner and nothing seemed to be a fuss.
I highly recommend this place.

We had a function at the Saxon and it was fantastic. The process to organise the event was so simple and the team were able to cater for dietaries very easily. We were set up on a table that opened out onto the courtyard with easy access to the bar and there was a DJ too. It was a great night- thanks Royal Saxon team!

Great place, excellent atmosphere and friendly staff. Can't wait for lockdown to be over and enjoy a good old friday night bevy!

I'd definitely give this place another try but on this visit, while the place is beautiful, the lamb ragu parpadelle was a little salty. On the other hand, the service was quick and friendly!

Everyone was coming in for the pizza though, so I think I'll do that next time and I definitely want to give the happy hour a go one of these days.

UPDATE - went back there today to try the pizza and that was excellent! I had the porcini mushroom, and my husband had the prawn and chorizo. Both were great! Again, this was another lunch time visit and they were not busy so service was great. We will definitely be back for the pizza!

Great to visit on a friday night for after work drinks, generally a good crowd, great when the upstairs area opens up as well.

Easily the worst service I’ve experienced in the past couple years. After waiting 45 minutes for a salad, it arrived.then was taken away.then given back. Seriously? Seriously.who gives you a salad after 45 minutes, then tells you “actually, that’s not yours. ” the takes it away.as they’re walking away with it and they realise they don’t know who else to give it to, they give it back?

This birthday lunch ended up with 2 returned meals - one because they didn’t know whether they had taken into account a food allergy and the other because we waited for over an hour and had to head back to work.

It was a sad experience and not one of the ten of us will ever return.
