Fantastic food with great variety, excellent taste, and beautifully presented. I ordered the Nasi Lemak Beef Rendang which was prepared to perfection. The ambiance is more of a short stop eat and go situation rather than sitting and chilling, as it is also quite busy. In terms of food, highly recommended.

My absolute fav. Best roti in town. The fish curry reminded me of my days living in KL. Quick cheap and buzzing with atmosphere.

Just wow. The curries and sauces are utterly delicious. BLR, briyani, nasi lemak, roti - all yum. And even when the place is chockers, the service is friendly and attentive. And a small but solid wine list full of local drops to boot. If you’re in the area, you need to stop by. We’ll be back, often!

The App to border food is atrocious. It sucks up so much information just to order a simple meal

I won't be coming back

More a place to drink and have a curry. Food is a pass but not outstanding. Atmosphere is really for 5pm after work drinks.

As the wife of a Chinese/ Malay man, I was extremely impressed with Roti Bar!

We both had a Teh Tarik each to drink which hit the spot.

We then had the Roti Canai, the Chicken Laksa and the Nasi Kandar (Kambing). The serving size were generous, the presentation was fantastic and the taste even better!

We will absolutely be back, thank you Roti Bar for your traditional Malay food

Really good mee goreng, super spicy and greasy. It would be great if the veggie laksa had veggie broth available.

Recommended by friends, I decided to take my family here for lunch. The food was authentic, delicious and serving portion was generous. My favourite was the nasi lemak and mee goreng. I hope to try other dishes next time. The customer service is also exceptional 5 star experience!

Ambience is good. The service is excellent. I had the mee goreng and fried fish crackers. Serving and flavour were good with minor comment that the chicken pieces in the mee goreng is quite dry. Overall, still very good.
The thing that I noticed was one staff dropped a bunch of tissue papers but immediately binned the entire thing. The training was done right and staff seemed to be practising safe food handling. Very courteous and attentive. I am impressed.

Food was great but after 25 mins mine still didn't arrive. I think they have it to someone else. My friend got his in 5 mins. When I asked them about it they sent my order quickly. I feel my experience was worse than what you would usually get here.

Many told me this place is over rated. But I thought there has to be a reason why it is always crowded.

Since I have a chance to try out food in CBD i thought I give this a go. It turned out quite disappointed despite I tried to excused them for been too busy. Chicken served was uncooked.

Sad that I haven’t found one serving authentic Nasi Lemak in Melbourne - the dancing long grain rice full of coconut milk aroma remain it’s slenderness and nutty though not so healthy with the milk but yet happy to eat. Haiya!

I have had roti bar’s mutton briyani before and it was really good. I went back recently in August 2022 and ordered the same thing. Unfortunately they changed the way they do mutton briyani now. It used to be mutton cooked with the rice so the mutton flavour infused into the rice. Now it looks like plain fried tomato rice and then mutton curry added on top of it. You can see in the photos that it is very moist from the mutton curry. It tastes OK but definitely not an authentic mutton briyani.

Busy and pricey but decent.

Booked for 14 people at 1pm but the table meant for us had just ordered food at 12.50pm, so had to squeeze onto a table meant for 12.

I paid ~$16-17 for Roti with chicken curry and $3-4 for Teh tarik. The Roti (pictured below) was a smaller portion than I was expecting, and looked a little sad with the curry in a cardboard container. The curry only had 3 bite sized pieces of chicken. Curry alone costs $9 - overpriced in my opinion. It was pretty good, but small for the price. Roti was average, nothing special.

Probably won't come back again due to the price, unless I was really craving Roti.

A lots of the menu was sold out. Food was so-so. Nothing that unique. Had the nasi lemak, murtabak and satay. Nasi lemak lamb curry was on the salty side and sambal was not fargrant and lack some undertone spices. Murtabak was OK. Satay flavour was pretty good with the smokey aroma. Overall, Service was good.

Addit: changed my review to 5 stars because the banana leaf on Saturdays is so good! Highly recommended! Not sure if their other dishes have improved during the rest of the week.

Initial review: Everything was ok, not terrible but not that great. We ordered mee goreng, fish curry, roti canai, satay, chicken 65, fried chicken, nasi lemak. All ok but you can find better Malaysian food in Melbourne.

Gonna say: the flavour and seasoning are top tier (there's no complaint at all from me, I admit) in CBD, the staff training as well.

- however for its price: the portion wasn't enough, for 3 dishes 55+ and 24.5 bucks dessert, the amount of food in each plate is just too little, roti that includes curry w/t two pieces of fish and 3 eggplants chop= 16.5.if you come here, simply come for its flavour as the amount of food won't feed you up, hence not a regular lunch/dinner spot.

The ABSOLUTE G. O. A. T! We stumbled across this GEM of a place in January 2022 and was mind blow with the hospitality, quality and atmosphere! Exactly how I love my Malaysian food. The BLR is an experience on its own and I cannot rave enough of the finger-licking goodness Nowhere else comes close for our fix! Keeps us coming back for more every single time.
6 stars and above guys! Kudos to the slaying team of Roti Bar
