Romo Pizza Bar reviews
35 I had pizza and wine.
The staff was very friendly and nice. I went alone on the weekend, but I was glad that they let me sit in an empty seat.
OMG. I think I want to call this my new best Melbourne pizza. I was obsessed with the flavour of the dough and the amount of crust. The selection of toppings were perfect, boasting all the classics. And they simply nailed the proportion of toppings on the pizza. Pasta was also fantastic, but I am running back for the pizza asap!
Food never arrived but they took money out of my bank account wen I ordered. Biggest joke of a establishment ever
Was told about this place and had to try. Really excited but everything was just off the mark a little bit. Pizza crust was nice but the pizza itself was way too soggy on all 3 varieties we ordered. The Ragu pasta was also just a bit lacking of flavour for what the reviews and what I have heard. By the time we left the inside was so Smokey our hair and clothes smelt. We wanted to love it but it was just a bit disappointing. The tiramisu was also lacking that traditional flavour and missing the coffee taste and cream too sweat and tasted very store bought.
We all had the same feelings as we shared all dishes, which we really just wanted it all to nail it and meet the expectations and didn’t.
This was an extremely difficult review to write. This is the best pizza in Melbourne as long as the bottom / base of the pizza is not completely burnt black. I was hungry and I decided to scrape it off instead of sending it back. The toppings were perfectly paired, correct ratios and good quality. It is a truly 48 hour proved pizza because it was a joy to eat, puffed up sides but light inside. Never too chewy, not too over or under cooked. And not wet in the middle. Along the top was caramelized and cooked perfectly not burnt. I had such high hopes and I will try one more time. Please keep an eye out what's going on on the stone surface or underneath the pizza before serving.:) It was too good to have one thing ruin it, seems have happened to at least two other people according to reviews.
Good quality italian pizza. Love the pizza as it is very authentic. Quaint secluded place perfect for date nights. Indeed a best kept secret of Melbourne.
Best vegan pizza I have ever had
Edit 06/2023: they got rid of this pizza. And got rid of the cashew cashew cheese. Dropped two stars in my opinion
Great pizza place. Delicious, accomodating for us when we arrived as a group of 7. Vegetarian options aplenty
One of the best Italian places I’ve ever been to. Garlic bread is the standout but everything was incredible. Shout out the pizza dough as well
Food was amazing! We ordered the tartufo pasta and lamb ragu parpadelle and both were 10/10. Will come back to try the other dishes. Staff were nice and attentive. Space was a bit cramped but not too big of a deal.
Absolutely fantastic Italian food. Simple and in a casual small setting from what I can only presume is a lovely family owned small business. Great staff and the food quality and serving was great and value for money. You could pay alot more for more average food out there so Romo was well worth it. Pasta and Pizza very fresh, and they had a good selection of both! Unfortunately didn't have the room for dessert! Will certainly be back!
Pretty and cozy place with a nice variety of pizzas and drinks. I just stumbled upon the place looking for good Italian pizza in south bank, and couldn’t ask for anything better.
The staff was so nice and friendly as well, where the they accommodated all 4 of us even during the Saturday rush hour.
Absolutely delicious pizza, pasta and entrées! Lovely staff too - the girls were super kind and friendly. Will be back soon!
Very nice pizza and service.
Reasonably priced.
Definitely will come back again
What a gem of a place! Beautiful food. Absolutely stunning. Great service, such beautiful friendly staff. The salmon carpaccio was incredible, I could eat that all day every day! Ragu was so well balanced and bright. Might pop by again today.
Pretty busy on a Wednesday night, waited around 15 mins after our booking time to be seated. Enjoyed the flavours of the ragu and seafood pasta. Personally the pizza had too much crust for us, the dough was nice and flavours of the pizza delicious but the centre of the pizzas were too soggy. Would definitely have preferred a crispier base.
Firstly, fantastic food & atmosphere, cannot fault them. But tonight we had a horrible experience: as we were being seated a waitress said to my pregnant wife “oh you look like you’re about to pop”, embarrassing her. After asking “when are you due? ” and my wife responding 2 months, she replied “no way, still 2 months!? ”. Then asked “are you having twins”, and when my wife said no, she replied “are you sure? ”. This completely and utterly embarrassed my wife and made her unbelievably self conscious, so much that we had to walk outside for 10 minutes until she was able to stop crying, before returning to try and eat.
Wow, this was by far the best pizza I've had in Australia. It was absolute perfection, with such lovely service and great wine list. Overall, a wonderful dining experience! I can't wait to come back and try the pasta next time!
This place pizza is amazing
But why it says it closed?
Anybody knows about info when they open or something?
Call off the search. This is Melbourne’s BEST pizza. Infact the best pizza I’ve ever had in my life period.
Because the pizza was SO GOOD and prices are reasonable I have to give 5 stars but the service wasn’t great considering we had a booking, we had to wait 20 mins and when we ordered they had only 1 pizza dough left (between a table of 4) which was very disappointing so we had to swap out to a GF base for our other pizzas - although good for GF, not a patch on the OG pizza.
Will however 100% be returning.
