My darling Mother passed away back in January this year.
Robert Nelson Funerals, were recommended to me, by another person in the industry.
Mum’s funeral was absolutely beautiful. Robert and his team, took great care in all aspects of Mums care and made the whole process worry free. Even during a time of immense sadness and grief.
I simply cannot thank you all enough at Robert Nelson Funerals.
So many people, on the day, told me that it was a beautiful send off for Mum. I couldn’t agree more.
Even those, who couldn’t attend, but watched via the livestream said it was beautiful.
It really has been a tough year after losing my Mother in January, but looking back at what you all created for Mum and our family, I will forever be grateful Robert.
I am sorry it has taken me so long to bring myself to write this review, but I had to give one. I’ll always have no reservations, in recommending your professionalism and care to anyone who asks.

Robert Nelson supervised the whole process himself and I was pleased with his method and response to queries. His professional knowledge and follow up was exemplary. His auxiliary staff gave full support to our family and we were fully informed with the procedures. All matters went smoothly and with a personal touch.

There are no words to adequately express my & my family's gratitude for the level of care & expertise shown by Robert Nelson. From my first phone call of enquiry to his follow up call the day after the memorial, his level of experience in guiding me through the process seemed effortless. I wanted a company & a farewell devoid of "cookie cutter" men in black suits that feels impersonal & although I chose a simple farewell, the care, kindness, thoughtfulness & professionalism was ever present. So was the positive & always timely light-heartedness so greatly appreciated. We have used Robert Nelson Funerals to transport the cremated ashes of a family member between Australia and Ireland.

At the worst of times you need someone who will look after everything in a caring, professional and efficient manner. I found Robert Nelson and his team to be excellent to deal with whenever we had a question or needed something done.

Robert Nelson Funerals was outstanding to deal with from the moment I first made contact with them. This was the first time I have had to arrange a funeral, and given it was for my Father, it was an emotional time. Robert's calm and supportive nature made the whole process a positive experience. Nothing was too much trouble, and he went over and above to ensure all our needs were met. The boutique nature of his business was also far more personal than dealing with some of the larger companies and made it a really calm and somewhat uplifting experience knowing my father was in such capable and trustworthy hands. This is the second time I have used Roberts service - in this instance I was overseas and he made things beyond easy again. In such a difficult and emotional time Robert made everything smooth and went above and beyond with on line paperwork being signed as needed and gave a check list of things I would never have thought of. He took care of everything from start to finish and could not recommend him more highly.

Robert was extremely efficient but always sensitive at our difficult time. He and his team were focused on us and on providing our family member that had passed the most respectful ceremony.
It was the second time we used RNFs and will have no hesitation in calling Robert again when required. My family also highly recommends his services to others when the need arises.

My father (J. L. N) passed away in April 2022 and we organised the funeral arrangements with Robert Nelson to have his funeral a few days later in May 2022.
First off, I normally don’t write reviews, but I felt I had to say something.
The good things:
- Communication with Robert on the day of my fathers passing was quick and easy and Robert clearly explained the whole process to us. We were able to select a suitable package that met our needs.
- The staff that picked up my father’s body from our house treated him with care when they transported him away.
- The venue at Bunurong Memorial Park was excellent, with plenty of space for the attendees.
- Catering food was great and the service they provided was excellent.
- Administrative paperwork at the end was done smoothly with no issues and we received the death certificate in a timely manner.

So why only a 2-star rating and not 5 stars?

My mother, sister and I viewed my father’s body in the casket before the ceremony began on the day. To our horror when they opened the casket, we found that my father’s body was treated in such a disrespectful manner. When the staff transported my father away on the day of his passing, we provided them with a full suit, shirt and tie for his funeral day. When we saw him on the day of the ceremony he still had on his clothes from when they transported him away from our house and had dried glue all over his face, body and clothes. They did not clean my father’s body at all which I thought was incredibly disrespectful. We were expecting to see dad in a pristine condition, fully dressed, clean and in the clothes that we provided. Instead, we saw my father in a horrendous form. That last image of my father will remain with me for the rest of my life. When we spoke to the staff at the venue on the day, they were not able to do anything about the situation, instead we had to continue with the ceremony as is. Luckily it was a closed casket funeral and no one else other than us saw dad in that terrible state. My mother spoke to Robert on the phone as soon as we saw our father, he was apologetic about the situation and explained how this may have happened, but was unable to do anything at this stage other than offer my mother a better urn for my father’s ashes. Later on, when I heard this from my mother, I thought it was such a demeaning offer. We paid a large amount of money to have a proper send off for my father and a key component of the service that we paid for was not undertaken. Although we didn’t ask or push Robert for anything, at the very least he should have offered a refund for the traumatic event he put us through. For a company to be running for so long, with such great reviews overall, my expectation is that they would have quality assurance measures in place to ensure these types of events do not occur. Afterwards they promptly found my fathers suit, shirt and tie and returned it to us the following day. I still feel really bad for my mother and sister as I was the one who selected Robert Nelson Funeral service.

Robert and his team provided an exemplary service to our family in our time of need. I couldn't recommend Robert Nelson Funerals enough.
