DO NOT USE THIS CONMAN!
I’m only sorry I did not read these reviews before having Richard come out to check on my plasma TV that is not working. Unprofessional, rude, unhelpful and a ripoff! We had discussed details over the phone but upon arrival he exclaimed ‘oh I didn’t know it was that old’ The TV is not fixable and his call out fee was $169 ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY NiNE DOLLARS. His fee was not discussed during the phone call, an absolute ripoff.

Please do not use this man. We explained issue with our TV to Richard over the phone and he insisted he needed to see the TV to diagnose. He came to our home and sighted the issue, as described to him, for no more than 60 seconds before he claimed it was not able to be repaired and insisted on a $119 call out fee. He did not advise that any call out fee was payable earlier and we would not have made an appointment if we had known. He clearly knew before arriving at our house based on the description of the issue with the TV that it was not able to be fixed - he attended just for a call out fee, he had his payment device in his hand as he walked in the door.

I was originally quoted the job over the phone by Richard and the job was rescheduled (twice) for some extra data points in the house. Once the person arrived to complete the work, it was like I was an inconvenience due to the house being two-storey - which was communicated and thus quoted. Once the job was completed, I was then presented with an invoice of 3 times the price quoted and not once was this discussed during the installation.

Further to add insult to wound, I'd discovered that 1 of the data points was not correctly installed and called the Richard to advise. I was promptly told that I was incorrect, didn't know what I was talking about and to prove what was wrong via email. I've subsequently sent full details of the fault and he'd committed to fixing the following week. Now nothing.

What a disgrace. Terrible business ethic and would not want anyone to go through the same rubbish.

Update: Oct 2022.
Following on from the above, I ended up taking Richard to VCAT. What an ordeal. He continued to advise me he never received the information from VCAT - nothing to do with me - to telling me that I was still wrong and that he would pay on a small amount of my claim.

Upon having the VCAT hearing, Richard didn't turn up nor did he submit any material - I wasn't surprised. VCAT order was made in my favour. Following that, he contacted me and then complained that he didn't know anything about it.

He continued to not comply - pay what was now required by the VCAT order - so I was forced to now advise VCAT that I wanted to take him to the Magistrates Court. Only then, Richard paid in instalments.

At no stage was Richard accommodating to the VCAT order.

I would never recommend his services to anyone.

Charged me $75 for a quote to repair only to tell me to take it to an onkyo dealership, said it was warranty, it wasn’t. Complete rip off. Have a look on Fb really rude man.don’t think he is as capable as he makes out.

They were employed to resolve an issue, but ultimately made it worse. When given the opportunity to make good, they blamed other factors without proper consideration - essentially any excuse other than their installation work, then demanded payment for the call-out. Owner was rude and unprofessional, and ultimately it seems wrong as well. A subsequent company came in for other unrelated matters, then ended up resolving the issue for us by modifying their cabling. I do not recommend this business.

One of his people came out about 3 months ago in Reservoir and changed over 1 wall mounted tv to another. Charged nearly $300 which I think is excessive. After nearly a month of trying to get my audio working through a Sonos speaker, I discovered the optical cable he supplied is not working. Rang Richard a number of times and left message and e-mailed him, all with no reply. Now he does not even answer the phone.
Do yourself a favour and find someone else more professional.

I am very happy customer. I got other companies to quote to relocate the TV and fix my surrounding sound system. One talks allot and try to sale me mew system, the other told me straight away he don't know how to do it and another said he need someone else to help him. Greg did professional work, also he didn't talk too much but he understand what I need and did it in very resemble price.
Always be aware of peoples that talk allot they are or try to sale you something you don't need or it's to cover that they Knowles's.

Tech came out and pressed power on the TV remote, then called the office to ask what the problem was, they couldn't answer and promised to get back to me. Charged me the callout fee for something that could have been done over the phone. When I questioned the worth of the callout fee with the owner he hung up on me. Find someone else

The rudest man i have ever dealt with in business. I had one of his workers come out to address the problem with my security, the problem was not fixed and i got charged $119 for half an hour. I then called Richard to discuss that i still have the same problem, he basically dismissed me! In a few words i was recommended to book another call out fee to see what we can do! Robbery in one word! I should have read his reviews before calling him! I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS GUY AT ALL!

Unfortunately wasn't prepared and not very helpful, it felt like we were more of inconvenience to Richard and he didn't try to help solve the problem. Richard was unprofessional and not very friendly, at one stage he was yelling/arguing with a worker on the phone in front of my partner and I. Potentially having a bad day but easily the worst experience with a tradesmen. (Job: Existing CCTV system which needed to be connected to smart devices). Instead of helping with our existing system he gave up and quoted me over $1600 for a new one that was not required. He might be okay in other areas but certainly wouldn't consider this area a "speciality" of his. When I sent feedback directly to him via the hipages app where I hired him from, he denied doing the job and went on to say he had no record of doing the work. But he did confirm and accept the job in the same chat on hipages and I have a tax invoice which I sent to him as proof (still denied doing the job). Richard was now denying he ever did the job and instead of apologising or acknowledging the feedback, he decided to pretend he never did it in the first place. My partner and I managed to fix the system ourselves with no CCTV system background even though he stated "you can't get this to work". Thought a professional would get this up and running quick and easy. I thought wrong.

Richard not a good costumer services, he didnt fix my tv then claim that he fixed already. Charged me $241 plus $119 for call out service. Still my tv sensor not working. Rude n hang up on me two times. And always delay to drop my tv. Not a good tv repair. If anyone wanna the repair from him. Pls dont.

After I paid $80.00 for a quote, I get a phone call the next morning and he says no good it can't be fixed, I asked what was wrong with it he says can't get the part. I was $80.00 out of pocket and TV not fixed.

Avoid at all costs. Basically a con job. Quoted me 150 to 200 to fix the tv and 150 to mount on the wall. Then while I was busy at work so he used that to trick my daughter and charged $551.40!
Would not refund the difference and very very rude
Be wary and don’t use!

It cost $80 to get a quote on repairing a flat screen TV. If you accept the quote it counts towards the final repair bill. Dropped of the flatscreen, which wouldn’t power on at 16.30 pm, got a call at lunch time the next day saying it was repaired. Final bill was $250, so $170 balance. I didn’t get the chance to accept the quote, (but would of). Very pleased the TV was saved from Landfill, works perfectly and I got a full written report of the work carried out. Will definitely go back again.if i have other items needing repair.

Reached out to them by mobile, And I told them the precise problem with my PC. Asked a price was told $60 min price. I asked simple and straight forward question's like were they located in Carlton or Monty as I am local and if it was a no fix no fee policy, after he takes on the job & I was rudely ignored! Never received a reply back from him. Bad attitude & rude, as obviously I have now noticed others complaining about. Bar all obvious fake reviews.

This is a tricky review to write. Richard is a funny guy (not "haha'-funny.) He is not a great communicator, at all and I can certainly see how this can be perceived as rude - see other reviews. His shop is like a time capsule from the 1980s and he appears a bit disorganised. But that is only the first impression.
What I will say is that he did a great job fixing my microwave. I have a built-in Miele MV that stopped heating. The Miele service wants 180$ just to come out and have a look and would then charge 30$/15 minutes plus parts etc. At Richard's shop you pay 60$ for him to have a look and those 60$ get credited when you go ahead with a repair.

Long story short - he fixed the thing for 180 all up and I couldn't be happier! Richard seems to be an electrician who will still fix things when others try to sell you new stuff. I think I would get back to him.

I had booked to repair my microwave oven and paid up front $60 fee with the agreement that Richard will call me back in the afternoon. About 5.00pm I called to get a report as he has not called me. He was rude on the phone and asked me not to call again and he will call the next day. I went to his shop the next day afternoon and he was visibly annoyed with me and shouted at me and told me he has no time to talk to me as he is in a hurry to close the shop. I decided not to get the work done by him. I collected the MW oven and left. He has not given me a written report until today.
I will not recommend him to any one.
