After being told by every other shoe repairer in Melbourne that it couldn't be done, I took a pair of Doc Martin 10 hole boots I wear for work in to see if they could be re-soled. Old mate ground back the original sole and stitched a Vibram sole on. End result: Bloody Briliant, I'd go as far as saying the boots combined with the Vibram sole are now better than the original crappy Doc sole.

Word of advice: The owner (Bill?) told me to call in advance because "I might not be here" I initially took that to mean 'in the shop' but after explaining he's in his 90's I think he meant 'here' as in this mortal coil. Either way, call in advance, you won't regret it
