Bookstore x this location = Great vibe so lively. Definitely one of my favourite places! Although on my last visit, the staff came to tell me it’s closing soon, yet I didn’t see her tell anybody (there’s a lot) else around… is this Asian girl maybe management should let her know.

Amazing selection of books. So many that I end up taking pics of the ones I'm not getting to remind me to come back after I've read the ones I bought. This place is a treasure.

Rude staff no matter how nice you are to them. This morning smiled and greeted a staff member with short brown hair in glasses and cardigan and told her Im picking up a book and was about to say my name and she interrupted and said, what's your name. After the transaction, I thanked her and got nothing back. Typical interaction at Readings. Snobbish too considering how limited their range is. They'd say pompously, that's a really good book, when you buy something. Like they're the arbiters of taste. Go literally anywhere else - esp Paperback, they're lovely.

A nice bookshop in Melbourne; And probably one of the few ones that opens Sunday afternoon!

Late night nerdy shopping. Music guy was excellent at helping us research limited edition vinyl we were hunting.

Delivery time was too long and I only live 2 suburbs away. My other parcels came from interstate and did not take 5 weeks. Didn’t expect to wait so long.

Courier misplaced my order. Contacted Readings and said that they will replace it straightaway. This time, my order was sent via Auspost express postage. Got it today. This is an excellent and very professional service! Couldn't be more happier.

Great selection and had all the titles I was looking for. Best part was they had a seat I could sit on while making my selection. Very rare to find a seat in bookshops these days.

My go to bookshop in the city. The best design, kindest people, and a superior selection of all kinds of books you can think of. I give this place a visit at least once a week. So glad it exists near the place I work.

I like to stop by at Readings when I’m in Carlton. They have a nice selection of books with a wide range of editions to choose from. However, I will say it isn’t as big and doesn’t stock nearly as much books as Dymocks on Collins street does, but it isn’t as small as a local QBD either. The books also tend to be a little on the pricier side. Other than that it’s a nice, spacious books shop with a great selection of books.

My daughter and I recently visisted the Readings book store in Carlton (Chidrens store) and purchased a variety of books for her University studies. One of her books Peter Pan was unavailable and the shop assistant did something extraordinary. Realising we couldnt come back later that day to pick one up suconded from another store and knowing we were headed off into the City, she called Dymocks book store (A competitor) and asked them to hold one for us. Purchasing a book for book lovers is exciting but when you receive amazing service such as this, it just adds another layer of love and reinfoces why we want to keep going back top readings. Im sorry I dont remember the sales assistants name but she was and is wonderful.

Wow! A perfect bookshop fitted with chairs to see if you want the book that you pickup. Staff were courteous and there’s a great selection overall.

If you're looking for a place to find Jenny Diski or Rebecca Solnit, or even Andras Schiff playing the Bach Partitia's, you can't walk past Readings. This bookstore is a small oasis.

Love this bookshop. Always a great range of interesting books to peak at your curiosity. Wonderful and knowledgeable staff always happy to help or order for you.

Quite rare for a book store to be opened till this late. Inside is very clean and have a nice range of books

I bought a record online from Readings last year and it was Led Zeppelin's live album "The Song Remains the Same", which showcases them as a live band at Madison Square Garden during their highly successful 1973 tour of the USA and it captures them at their zenith.
Although I was born in Carlton, I have never actually resided there, but nonetheless, the record arrived safely and when I collected it from my local post office in East Gosford, I got it home and played it on my record-player.
I am very pleased with the record and the pristine condition in which it arrived as well as the remastered sound quality.

Love Readings. 4 stars due to high prices but lygon leases can't be cheap and for some reason we always gets screwed on book prices down under. A lovely balanced vibe of supporting literature & the arts as well as commercialism, which isn't too ott and very considered stock all-round. I have found staff friendly and helpful and pleasant even with returns, which have never been their fault in any way. It is so wonderful to still be able to experience a physical bookstore still in this boring tech-age. Thanks Readings!

Been looking for a beginners book on composting recently.
The service over the phone was friendly and helpfull. They had the title i was looking for and they put it aside for me as well.
When i walked in, the gentleman at the counter was very welcoming and engaging. He found my book, we had a bit of a chat about our composting efforts and i was on my way.
Top service guys!
There are some great specialist cook books instore as well, so i will be back in soon to get some fresh ideas for winter cooking. Thank you Readings team.
