Tara was so helpful as we shopped for tablecloth fabric today. She showed me a variety of options, mentioning the benefits of each material. The other staff were lovely too. Really refreshing to have such wonderful, friendly customer service while shopping. I'll definitely be returning to buy more fabric in the future:)

Best store, great range of fabric and the staff actually know things. They can answer all the questions and will always do extra to make sure you have everything. ️️ I've been shopping here since 1991.

Lovely selection of fabrics and really helpful and knowledgeable staff. They helped me to pick out fabric for my wedding dress and I couldn't be happier. They really went the extra mile to make sure I was happy with my selection.

I love this shop. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the stock is of good quality and at a good price. Digging through the remnant bins brings me so much joy and inspires me with new ideas for projects

Walked in to make a purchase of thousands of dollars worth of fabric for my clothing label for sampling multiple garments, and even higher MOQ for mass production and consistent future purchases, but the staff here are the rudest of all the fabric stores in Melbourne! Horrible service. I'm not sure why I was recomended to go here, I walked right out and took my money and business elsewhere. Didn't wait a second to share with my 50+ team to avoid this place at all costs. No thanks.

I have been shopping here when you were are Rathdown Street oh how I loved the bins and making little dresses for both my little girls. Then I think there were 3 maybe 2 others shops until where they are currently.

Love the advise, I brought some material for leggings. Thought I looked a millions dollars until I walked in them and they rolled down to my knees. I thought boy someone’s head will roll. I rang and think I spoke with Wendy she said have you got maximum stress going around you’re body I answered yes when I was told that material stretched down and across a. I hung up thinking stupid women Came inside and tested the material YEP she was right. I rang back thanked her went down bought more material. Even at 72 told you can still learn love this shop

This is an awesome place, definitely a bit niche but the staff are so helpful and prices are great

Very helpful people, wonderful range of fabrics and really great prices. I visit at least once a year to stock up as I live in Tasmania and sew for my 10 grandchildren, friends and family.

The customer service at Rathdowne Fabrics was to be commended. The staff are dedicated to helping the customers. We will definitely be back

Customer service is inconsistent, can sometimes range from good to kind of terrible. Honestly probably a better tactic to hire young-her and mentally bouncier staff. They often do a better job than one of the older ones (no I'm not an ageist). Just keep notice the older ones seem to be crankier, short of patience and often rude to simple remarks or queries.why you would act this way to a potential paying or returning customer.

Amazing fabric store with lots of variety. Prices are very reasonable and the staff are friendly.

The fabrics are high quality and easy to work with. I would come back here for a restock:)

Large fabric & haberdashery store with very helpful staff. They offer a 10% discount for schools & are happy to cut swatch samples if you need them. Towards the back of the store there is a large array of remnants, those near the upholstery section on the roll need to bought as is/entire quantity but they are worth rummaging through as they are great value.

I am a bit perplexed by the amount of positive reviews on here. Every time I have been in I’ve generally experienced grumpy customer service (mostly from the older workers). The selection of fabrics is not that great in quality and sometimes I feel like the staff don’t actually know much about textiles or fabric.

For example I bought fabric that was claimed to be 100% cotton jersey, but when a sample was burned i found out it was partly synthetic even though the person I asked said it wasn’t. To some extent some of us know that this isn’t the store you’d go to get higher quality fabrics, but the lack of knowledge of the products would be forgivable to some extent if the customer service was generally nicer and better but unfortunately the majority of the workers get defensive and rude on when you question them about products and they don’t have the answer.

I feel uncomfortable coming back to this store in the future as the service is poor, the workers are rude and they don’t even have quality fabrics/products to justify this.
