Ranong town

This is easily the best Thai food I've ever had in Melbourne! The Tom Yum hot pot with young cococut is the best thing I've eaten in a while, Green curry was so fragrant and creamy, the stir fry pork soft bone was delicious, and all the home made drinks were great too. Will definitely be coming back!

We had take away so I cannot speak to service or atmosphere, however the food was unpleasant. The fried rice was OK, but the masama curry firstly looked like dirty water and the meat and tough and fatty. We haven't ordered since, so unsure if this was a once off, definitely not what I expected after lots of good reviews.

“Ranong Town, the best town in the city”, meant to write a reviews several times as we have been here multiple times already, their southern Thai dish are the best in Victoria and the number one Thai restaurant that I would highly recommend.

First of all, whenever I come here I always ordered the southern Thai food which is yellow curry and stir fried prawn with broad beans. I have as well tried Moo Hong which my bf’s favorite. All the paste I could see and taste that it is homemade and not from the ready made paste which make it super authentic and have amazing taste.

The chef is so good and never disappoints me

Love coming to this place for lunch. Food portions are large made with fresh ingredients. Love that the boat noodle soup had plenty of green veggies along with the pork and liver. Pad Thai is always excellent. It is nice and relaxing place with great service. Will keep coming back here for sure!

Had it three times in the week they opened! Delicious. We've been back at least 10 more times, and have never been disappointed.

This place is over rated! I ordered the Thai southern style braised pork belly, Ranong Town omelette with crab meat, white rice and the Ranong town set for dessert. All three dishes didn’t taste Thai at all. In fact, it tasted like a home cooked meal typically served in a Malaysian Chinese household. The pork dish tasted like “Hong Bak” with lots of sugar in it, the omelette tasted like an omelette you would fry at home, but with a dollop of crab meat on the top of it (to make it more fancy and to justify the price) and the dessert was like assorted “kuih” that can be bought from some Malaysian restaurants at half the price. If this was a blind test, I would think it was a Malaysian restaurant instead of an authentic Thai restaurant (claimed by the restaurant). Moreover, the restaurant was packed with Malaysians (based on their accent, slangs and occasional Malay words in their conversations), instead of Thai nationals (based on my experience with other genuinely authentic Thai restaurants around Melbourne). Portion are relatively small for the dishes. However, the taste is good. I will rate this 4 stars if it was a Malaysian restaurant but since it’s an authentic Thai restaurant (claimed by the restaurant), I’ll rate this restaurant a 2 star. I’ll be back again to try the other dishes and see if my opinion changes.

Reasonable price with delicious Thai foods. The Tom yum seafoods soup is the star. Shop don’t normally put fish and young coconut in Tom yum but they did. Will definitely come back with friends next time.

Amazing food - most authentic flavours - highly recommended. Feeling very blessed to have such a gem nearby to enjoy.

Hands down the best Thai cuisine in our area, and that's saying something as we have a few really good Thai places around. The Pad Thai was easily the best I've every had, my mouth waters just thinking about it. The food is super fresh, authentic, and very well priced. The interior is super clean and cosy. This is now our go-to place for Thai. If you're in the outer east suburbs, PLEASE try this place. It's delicious! Thank you, Ranong Town!

We had curry, Tom yum soup and the mango sticky rice for dessert. All were excellent in their own way. Best Thai food I have had in the east!

Authentic and yes, its very spicy as the staff warned us.

It's taste good, I have only 3 dishes and 1 of them is omelette which can't go wrong and save me from spicy.

Would come back for others if I have chance

I’ve had a few lunches and dinners here over the last couple of months and they have all been great. Authentic, tasty and good size servings.

Finally an Authentic Thai place. Yes in the burbs but so much better than many other establishments that profess to serve Thai food or their twist on Thai. This place is authentic Thai food and I loved it.
A must try.

Wow! What a satisfying meal I had here! Had the Pad Thai and the Pineapple Fried Rice for lunch and I dare say that the two dishes were easily the best in the outer Eastern Suburbs. (Of course, taste is subjective) The Pad Thai was delicious and sufficiently moist; the Pineapple Fried Rice was tasty and the spices were not overpowering. I liked the Thai milk tea too! Bonus: the prices were very reasonable for the portions served. Such a pleasant dining experience. Will definitely be back to try the other dishes on the menu!

What a gem. I can confidently say that this is as authentic as it comes in Melbourne. I’m Thai and been living in Melbourne for more than 20 years, this is closest to the real Thai taste. I heard of this place from my sister so I traveled 14km to try. Exceeded my expectation in every way, mind blowing. Don’t expect this place to taste sweet and creamy like the average Thai restaurant where they only feed you sugar, coconut cream and msg. If you’ve been to Thailand and loved the food you will love it here. 10/10 super duper.

For those who are looking for a quiet diner that serves authentic Thai food. Only a few tables available so I'm glad to have called in to book a table for dinner with friends. It's a treat to be served with tasty and beautifully plated Thai dishes.

Awesome and authentic thai food. Very reasonable on wallet. I loved the veg red curry, chicken green curry and spring rolls. It is no less than a paradise or ho chi mama in terms of food.

OMG where have you been! This is the best authentic Thai food in Melbourne without a doubt. So happy you guys haven't stepped it back to placate 'a western palate' Do not ever change!
