R Hotel Geelong - Serviced Apartment Hotel reviews
39Fantastic place to stay if you’re planning a trip to the Geelong Waterfront. Plenty of options for everyone, from one to two bedroom apartments (with kitchen, laundry, living room, balcony) to hotel suites. Free parking, cafe downstairs, in-room dining, foxtel, ultra-modern interior and great service.
Great location - close to the waterfront.
The room was spacious with sliding doors separating the bed from the living room.
The balcony was huge and great light flowing into the room with views of the waterfront
Firstly, the positives: the room itself is well appointed and spacious. The balcony in the Ocean View apartments is huge, with views of the city and (partly) the bay. The bathroom is great with a very large shower. The staff were very friendly and helpful any time I had a question for them.
Now, the not-so-positives: it is not their fault, but if you’re staying here on a night when a nearby open pub is blaring their music, you will hear it until they close (11pm on a Saturday). Even the TV on loud didn’t drown it out. The sound proofing seems to be non-existent, as even garbage trucks the next morning woke us up at 6am with all windows and doors closed.
We found the bed to be too soft, but that’s always a personal thing. There’s a range of pillows which was helpful.
The apartment had a strange smell in it when we first arrived and trying to air it out didn’t seem to make much difference. The hallways were very stuffy and also smelt off. There was also one day when they just stunk of bleach.
I’d also suggest that when you pay for an Ocean View, that it should only be for rooms on the highest floors, as our supposed Ocean View was quite impeded. We were on level 5 (of 9) and had three buildings blocking a decent amount of the view. It seemed the park view would have been better. I’d expect more for the price we paid.
Excellent location. The apartment was clean, modern and well appointed. Easy check in and out. Great location. Highly recommended.
Usually we stay at a hotel and either the pillows are terrible or the mattress is terrible or even the shower has no pressure! But this place ticked all boxes, stayed here on the weekend and was blown away on how beautiful our room was, service was amazing and the location was perfect, definitely be coming back soon
Absolutely wonderful accomodation in the heart of Geelong. I travel a lot and it’s rare to find accomodation that ticks all the boxes, but the R Hotel is one. Excellent facilities and welcoming staff. The rooms are large, well equipped and extremely clean. The beds are super comfy and the shower pressure is divine. I just could not find any fault with my stay and I give it five stars for complete satisfaction. Highly recommend!
Incredible experience! Lovely, spacious rooms with excellent coffee/tea selections
Very clean and service was impeccable.
Loved it and I am really happy that my work has booked me in to stay there again at end of April
Great experience, modern and clean rooms. Close to the action. The team were were all lovely.
Best bed I've slept in in a long time. The bathroom was nice too. Liked the space and the washer/dryer was convenient.
Great and modern hotel in a perfect location just by the beach. Friendly and warm welcome by ever smiling and lovely reception staff clean room and really comfortable bed.
The only area for development is that the well hidden coffee machine was difficult to plug in as I had to remove fridge to be able to plug in the machine. The cord to the kettle was not long enough to plug in. But those were minors in comparison to my great two hotel nights at the R
The staff at the front desk are amazing very accommodating to all my and daughters needs very central easy access to public transport if needed. Resturants and cafes food is great and reasonably priced. The hotel itself very clean and has all the essentials strongly recommend the R Hotel
The R Hotel is a must stay in Geelong.
The hotel is extremely well presented with excellent staff.
Rooms are well appointed & spacious with great bathrooms.
First class beds ensure a great nights sleep.
Cafe in the morning is a must with excellent offerings and exceptional staff.
Highly recommend!
Amazing apartments. Spacious, clean and comfortable. The parking is easy and fuss free!
Great location so central to everything beach is a 3 min walk if that!
Blown away by the staff and customer service (Yvette) in particular
Have told everyone about this place great stay wouldn't shop around next time would definitely book r hotel again
Clean, modern and a convenient location to walk to the foreshore. We stayed in a Hotel Room apartment which we found comfortable and spacious for just the two of us. The bed was very comfortable, and the pillows were huge and soft. The noise level was low, we didn't hear any other guests and traffic noise was minimal. We booked through the official R Hotel website without any problems and checking in and out at the front desk took just a matter of minutes.
Great facilities if you're a self catering person. Clean, central city and lovely view.
Couldnt stay because i dont own a credit card.
Once they discoverd that, i was fobbed off as some sort of pesant.
Advoid!
Charged extra for roll away bed without confirming with anyone. "says they left a message"
Ants in the kitchen, the floorboard was dirty looks like hasn't been mopped after a few stays.
Just stayed for a month on business trip
Rooms were very well equipped, comfy bed, shower amazing
But what made the whole trip perfect were all the staff on reception very polite and helpful
And the girls in the hotel cafe
Keep up the good work
Normally I stay at the Novatel for business but on this occasion it was booked out, so I decided I would give the R Hotel a try. After calling the hotel directly to book 3 rooms, one for myself and one each for my two international business colleague’s, I was told the rooms were $299 a night. They then asked for credit card details and I told them that we would be all paying individually at checkout to which I was informed that the price per room would then be $319. The hotel was quite nice but I think it is overpriced for what it is and considering the fact that there is no restaurant or bar on site.
On checkout I received an invoice for my room and thought that was the end of the matter. When I checked my credit card statement the next day I discovered that I had in fact been charged for all three rooms at the higher price. When I called the hotel to discuss the matter I was asked for my bank details so they could reimburse me for the extra rooms. They said the refund should only take a couple of days.
After waiting a week and still no refund, I called back to be told there was no record of my initial complaint. I was also told that they would contact the staff member I originally spoke too and get back to me that day…. I am still waiting!
This entire experience has been a nightmare. I have traveled nationally and internationally for business for 30 years and never experienced this issue. The fact that I am now out of pocket over $600 as I can only claim business expenses in my name is a disgrace and the stress it has caused is immeasurable. I will never stay here again and would worn others to also avoid it.
