Queen Victoria Hostel

Had stayed here for 8 nights, room is clean, service is great, staff is kind and very helpfull during my stays, location is great there are 2 tram stops in free zone area outside the hostel, victoria market is just across the street.

The young lady on the reception was brilliant one a lot for me and only stayed a night sean from ireland

Very accommodating staff and the hostel, room and toilets are clean. There's a pub downstairs. Recommended!

Lovely new pub! Friendly service and i would recommend their beers. I went last week and got their jugs for $13.

Cosy bar, but sports screen was blurry and the wine on the menu not in stock, so they oferred an alternative priced higher.

Great pub downstairs. Friendly staff and locals. There's always good music here too and their Guinness is actually better than that at the pokey Irish pub close by. It's a beautiful heritage building that has kept all the good stuff and added the necessary modern touches. It's easily one of the best pubs in Melbourne CBD with staff and hospitality second to none. I look forward to dropping by again on my next visit.

Service wasn’t good. They just provide with bedsheets, pillowcases and duvet covers but customers themselves have to place those. Shower rooms were too small to even move your body freely to wash. Only one toilet for males and one for females in the whole accommodation. There was not enough gap/ space in between top and bottom bunk beds. I hit my head few times. Security was alright. It was clean and tidy all over. Good location as most places are nearby the hostel. Easily accessible transport, food, bars, clubs and shopping stores.

Great family run hostel that cares about their guests! Cant reccomend it anymore than I should.

Very clean and basic. The receptionist (Lydia) is a wonderful spirit and made guests feel at home.

Pros:
Pristinely clean, great location, great air conditioning.

Cons:
-The owners stormed in the room at 12: 30 am with a flashlight speaking loudly and waking everyone up, and talking to me disrespectfully and scolding me over something trivial about their roles. Unacceptable unprofessional behaviour
-There is a very small uncomfortable common room, almost impossible to stay and socialise at this hostel. It's just to sleep
-The showers are insanely small

Edit: as a neutral person would see from their tone in replying to this review, they took simple criticism in a condescending and scolding manner instead of de-escalation and taking it constructively.very unprofessional hospitality management and their response proves my point.

P.s. No, that's not true, you entered speaking loudly and all room guests talked about this strange thing next morning laughing. And also no, i explained that the cover was placed under the duvet, and i apologised for that and was going to do it myself but Yee wouldn't let me, and now you act like you did me a favour? I honestly feel bad now for letting her "help", and should've said no knowing that you are going to try and humiliate your guests publicly. Distasteful and disgraceful. Management is unfit for hospitality. I reviewed you with full honesty about the positives and negatives because I treat everyone with honour, not with vindictively WITH THE PEOPLE WHO YOU WANT TO COME AND SPEND MONEY AT YOUR BUSINESS!

A nice place to stay when arriving in Melbourne. Compared to other hostels, this one was really clean and due to it not being that big it is pretty quiet. The young lady working at the reception was super friendly and helpful. Things to be improved would be the TINY kitchen which everyone was a bit annoyed at since sometimes you would have to wait to just get in there. Also, regarding the fact that there is no space to hang dry clothes, a price of 5 dollars for using the dryer seems quite high. Apart from that, we really enjoyed our stay.

Really friendly staff and a clean hostel. BUT the kitchen was tinyyyyyy and there was nowhere really to chill (only some high stools with a thin table to eat off)

The tiny kitchen really was an issue - one stove top with 4 burners for the whole hostel, no room to move, waiting for ages for a burner to come free (let alone 2 if you were going to cook rice or pasta with your meal).

Nice clean hostel in great location. Small but has everything you need. It can be a bit noisy at night time so take ear plugs.

Very clean. Everything seems new. Great room. Very good location next to Victoria Market. Very nice hospitable owners and staff.

We are from Newcastle. We come here every time we come to Melbourne. They always make us so welcome. The hospitality is first class, and decor is fantastic. Highly recommend

Place has new owners.who have done a great job fixing a place that was sadly neglected. Pleasant staff good beer.i spoke to the owner who has good plans for the future.i gape they do well

Amazing vibe and energy at this place! Not too loud, not too quiet.perfect! Great service by the bar people and they’re quite nice on the eye too!

The worst Australia day ever! I will not be confronted by very poor customer service! Avoid this place at all costs! Very very disappointing! I was regular for a short time but obviously my money is no good! Their loss is my gain! Good call Yong?
