The best Portuguese custard tarts in Melbourne. I buy 10 at a time! All their desserts are incredible. Sourdough bread is amazing. Also the best sourdough I have ever eaten. This cafe is one to definitely visit. I drive 40 mins just for their cakes. Absolutely delicious!

On March the 5th we had a MAGICAL DAY. Jessica and I got married. And our RECEPTION of choice was at the “PROVENCE KITCHEN BAKERY CAFÉ” in Hawthorn. It was the perfect size to cater in comfort for our 40+ guests. It was AWESOME and what a NIGHT we had for family & friends.
Mind you I have known the proprietors, Lida & Ali for over 15 years. So, I know what they are capable of doing when it comes to food, stunning tasting lattes and delightful in-house baked cakes & amazing lunches & dinners that were catered for that night…WOW! 
They allowed us to set up the tables to our liking, the napery, the candles, the photos, the beautiful flowers, the lighting, the DJ of our choice, the extension of the café to allow the reception to cater for more tables and chairs for our arriving guests. 
Most of all its the Food. This is probably not too surprising.
FACT, did you know that 62% of wedding guests said that food is one of the most important things they pay attention to at weddings. That's why we were impressed by their professionalism and service to our guests. They looked after us with our budget for the catering and venue. Because the last thing you want is “Hangry Guests”.  And the staff they did not fail us. They were amazing with our friends of all walks of life. They BLEW us AWAY! I would recommend anyone who wants a humble size venue, where food is amazingly rich in flavour and the staff are willing to go the extra mile in service. Then this beautiful interior setting French rustic decor café will impress you.

We had a friends wedding there and even though it’s a fair drive I have been back for coffee and cake, also coffee and lunch. Keep up the great work

The European feel with a menu to suit. Delicious savouries, swears pastries & breads. We stumbled onto this lovely shop, drawn to it by the lineup spilling out the door on a Saturday morning! I tried the savoury "sausage" roll - the puff pastry melted in my mouth and the filling was moist. The Flat Whites were creamy and hot! Top marks all round.

Easily the best bakery in Camberwell. All pastries are fresh and delicious, special mention to the French style quiche!

I'd travel a million miles for just one of their Portuguese tarts. That's how good they are.

Really like this Bakers' egg tart， but today I bring an egg tart to my work place，I found a metal strip in my mouth. Really dangerous if I swallow it.

Definitely one of my favourite coffee, sweets and savoury place in Camberwell! The bread and butter is highly recommended! Love the coffee but just need a tad warmer when received. I mostly do on the go purchases as the shop looks small and once there is a queue, it becomes a little congested. Overall, check it out! Friendly service too.

Wonderful pastries! So many to choose from. The highlight is definitely the quiches. Buttery and crisp pastry, lots of filling, a nice balance of ingredients. Bacon, onion, mushroom and egg is my choice. Good bread and almond croissants too. On a cold morning this place will satisfy all your pastry needs.

Excellent pastries and baked goods. Huge selection of sweet and savoury. Chocolate/nut tart is very nice, large slice lasted 3 days. Had it at home with strawberries, such a treat!
Not really a fan of the soy milk used for coffee as it has sugar in it and coffee is usually bit weak, but ok. Staff are always lovely and owner is a nice guy. Clearly very hard working and doing a wonderful job.

Holy moly macaroni - you NEED to come here! Had a bread and butter pudding and it was the best thing I’ve eaten in a LONG time. I want to eat everything here. Great coffee and lovely staff but plz - bring an empty stomach and also a billion bags to pack all of the treats you will want to buy.

I'd say these are freshest pastries and quiches you will have! The portughese tarts and fried doughnuts are devine! The pastry is so fresh it will melt in your mouth!

This place makes the best Portuguese tarts on earth. I've bought these and brought to many occasions and always get asked where I got them. (Mind no disparaging remarks on my own cooking but you eat these and they are irrepressible). Not too sweet and lovely firm custard. The almond croissants are mighty fine. I dare you not to buy anything here

Literally everything at this place is awesome, but the Portuguese tarts are in a class of their own! Plus the staff are super nice and accommodating:)

This is by far and away the best bakery and coffee takeaway plane in our area. The coffee is 5 star and so is the food. Ali is a wonderful, positive, generous host in these trying times. I wish him and his lovely, lady business partner all the best. They deserve it.
