Denise is a true wine professional, she’s very generous with her extensive knowledge- the best wine tasting experience ever - definitely worth the $35 tasting menu for premium wines you just would never get to taste elsewhere. Thank you

Visited for an impromptu wine tasting in the morning for my partner's birthday. We were welcomed at the gates by a friendly lady who gave us some background about their vineyard which was being pruned that morning by their workers. Lovely little cottage/chateau-like residence with an intimate cellar door. She gave us a a condensed <30 minute tasting as we had a booking for lunch elsewhere, where she thoroughly explained each wine with impressive knowledge. She candidly exclaimed they don't make a bad wine and I have to agree; smooth, concentrated, elegant wines that we found were a step above the other wineries we've tried in Mornington. We will be back for a reserve tasting for sure. Thanks for the Pinot and Chablis.

We loved it! Denise was so knowledgeable and thoughtful in her explanations of what we were drinking. An amazing tasting experience and location. We highly recommend but be sure to book ahead as they only have 6 ppl tasting an hour. A truly intimate and informative afternoon

What a shame I can't give them six stars.

Exceptional cellar door experience. We were taken on a journey, through the theatre of the mind, guided by a knowledgeable host, and an insatiable palate.

This is the cellar door experience not to miss when visiting the Mornington Peninsula

We popped in unannounced on Sunday morning for a tasting and Tony was extremely accommodating and very knowledgeable. My husband and I could have sat there all day listening to him talk as we have a common love for France. Besides the amazing wines produced at Prancing Horse, Tony also allowed us to taste his beautifully created french wine and we hope to bump into Tony and his wife at their Burgundy winery in the future.

Thank you for a wonderful experience Tony, we will be back!

Absolute horrible experience! The owner blocked us from the door because we were 15 mins late into an hour tasting. The next group were 45 mins early and arrived when we did and he ignored us, we’re incredibly rude to us, and when we decided to go elsewhere said to the other group ‘Well that problem is solved’. Just wow. Go to Main Ridge Estate instead. Beautiful food and the most amazing service. Would give a -5 review to ‘prancing horse’ if I could. Just a horrible horrible man who treated us with disgust and disrespect. Urgh.

Tony and Cathie Hancy must be the most generous winery owners in the Mornington Peninsula. Tony will happily spend the afternoon wine tasting and sharing his depth of knowledge of Chardonnay, pinot noir and burgundy. From the everyday quaffer like the Prancing Horse Pony to the grand crus of burgundy, this is one place you wouldn't want to miss.

Unlike the tasting rooms in the big wineries, Prancing Horse is set up in a cellar of a small cozy group, just like what you might find in Burgundy. Best to book ahead to guarantee a spot. Cheers!

Called in on Sunday afternoon with a group of 4 with two of us visiting from the Hunter region. Host and vigneron Tony welcomed us and invited us to take a seat at the outdoor table looking out over the vines. It was beautiful weather and he joked that he had arranged that specifically for us. Tony explained many of the aspects of the vineyard and wine production process, specifically about permaculture and co-planting of different cover species to ward off pests. All the wines we tried were excellent, and Tony even gave us a special tasting of a $175 bottle of Chablis, which I bought. It was quiet and we enjoyed a private tasting outside with views over the bay. Absolutely the best wine tasting experience on the peninsula.

Honestly, one of the most unique wine tasting experiences you can have in the Peninsula. Host and vigneron, Tony, welcomes you and you instantly feel like you’ve stepped into a boutique cellar in France. This is complemented by some fo the best wines I’ve tasted in the region: the Pinots were incredible as were his range of Chablis: and if you’re lucky, you’ll also get to sample some incredible French cheeses to match the wines. If you come and the cozy tasting room is full, definitely come back - it’s worth it! Thanks Tony for a most incredible and fun wine tasting experience! PS.i know you can’t spell “food” but thank goodness you can spell cheese!

My favourite winery in Victoria. Beautiful wines, including their Chablis made in France and incredible local chardonnays and pinot noirs. The family owned vineyard is one of the original organic and bio-dynamic wine makers in the region, with a lovely small tasting room and beautiful views down the rows of vines to the ocean. Special mention to Vicky, our sommelier for the tasting - very friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming, and absolutely made the experience! Best winery to visit on the peninsular. Make sure you book ahead and note that it's wine only - no restaurant - although there is plenty of great food options nearby.

Amazing tasting experience in a lovely cellar with knowledgeable owner. Wines here are actually excellent - and include ones from their French vineyard - but also definitely not cheap. The French wines make a nice change from the usually Pinots and chardonnays in the area. Also, if you’re lucky you may spot the owner’s Ferrari parked out front - it’s a beauty.

Unfortunately didn’t get to try the wines, the staff (possibly owner) was incredibly rude. After a very cold welcome, I asked if we could do a tasting and possibly get some kind of food. He rudely laughed and told me, “we don’t know how to spell food” and proceeded to ignore me after that. We were then told it was very busy and to come back later (there were 2 families and one other couple, but perhaps for their small cellar door that is busy). While the lady did chase us afterwards and told us to come back, which was slightly redeeming, we did not return and will not after such treatment. A shame, we were looking forward to tasting and were planning to buy a great deal of their biodynamic wine.
