Port Phillip Ferries Portarlington reviews
34Loved our trip to Portarlington which took a little over an hour on the ferry in calm waters over Phillip Bay despite the drizzly rain on the way back. Seating was well spread. The crew were professional. I just wish more people used this service which is far less stressful than navigating the roads around the bay.
I recently traveled from Melbourne to Port Arlington and back on the Ferry.
I booked the return trip online which was straight forward.
At the Melbourne end there is a cafe to wait in until the Ferry is ready to board. The terminal is located directly opposite Marvel Stadium and there were a couple of bike racks at the cafe entrance, one of which I used as I rode there.
I locked my bike there for the day as I wasn't going to use it at Port Arlington.
On boarding the ferry the attendant at the gangway just asked for my name and checked me off on a tablet so I didn't need to show my e ticket which I had in my wallet. The staff were friendly and helpful.
The ferry departed on time and the ride was very comfortable. It was quite windy and the sea was choppy but the ferry ride was very stable so no hint of sea sickness for me.
The return trip at 4pm was the same.
All up I recommend the trip. The time it takes is probably about the same as driving when you take into account getting to the ferry but it is a relaxing ride compared to driving and at $34 return (seniors) I thought it was good value.
We had a great trip to docklands and back.
The trip was smooth and easy.
The crew were friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend Port Phillip Ferries for an easy trip to Melbourne.
Absolutely love my cruisy commute to Melbourne every week. I have one suggestion though: the lovely young lady in the cafe looking after us needs a proper chair to rest her legs occasionally. Could we please gift her a comfy seat for Christmas?
Fantastic service. Fast, smooth and comfortable. Free wi-fi. Low cost compared to car and NO stress.
Love travelling on this ferry, so much quicker and less hassle than driving! A great way to get across the bay to either Geelong or Port Arlington!
Great day spent on Bellarine Peninsula with 2 trips across the Bay by ferry. Staff were helpful, vessle in great condition and very clean.
What a lovely way to visit the Bellarine Peninsula. Booking tickets on their website was simple but you can also get tickets at the docks. Boarding and embarking from the ferry was very civil and well organised.
To travel across the Bay to Melbourne is the most relaxing, no stress way.
The Staff are very competent and professional.
I use the Ferry quite regularly to go from Portarlington to Melbourne and even if the bay is a little choppy, I always know I'm in good hands.
Congratulations to all the Staff on Port Phillip Ferries for providing an excellent service!
Great trip across the bay! And a reasonable cost. Don't use the toilet tho totally gross
Never have a chance to catch this on my doorstep in Melbourne as I have a little dog not assistance, so severe fibromyalgia forces me to drive all the way with difficulty to see my partner in Portarlington.well not good enough.other ferries are up to date & it appears to me that Portarlington will surge ahead in the near future.as it already has. I shop locally buy clothes visits to restraunts, vineyards with my dear companion dog! No dog no money from me.the bus even is up the hill from the beautiful walkway from the ferry! Goodness me logic says bus stop at ferry.quite a hill for elderly, kiddies, or people with suitcases.infrastructure needs to be addressed if you are pushing this charming fishing town to compete with the Victorian countryside & Mornington Peninsula, which has foresight to have car ferry with dogs, then how can you move forward with tunnel vision. Melbourne money usually keeps these towns afloat! After 45 Years Blairgowrie a ghost town in the 70/90’s.now overcrowded after covid…….
Fantastic experience!
Living in stleonards with all my family in Melbourne this is the best way to commute and keep up with them!
Easy to book and friendly faces everywhere.
Extremely friendly and polite staff, a comfortable and affordable way to travel to and from Port Arlington. My family extremely enjoyed the journey!
A great day trip from Docklands to Geelong. A bit of a hassle booking in person better on line in advance.
I took the morning commute yesterday. All the staff welcome you on board. Coffee is good and the trip was on time and without fuss. Plus, I had a beer on the way home. Great service.
The best way to commute to Melbourne CBD from the bellarine. Comfortable, stress free and with coffee and bar facilities.
I was delighted to see so many people onboard the Portarlington Ferry, and was equally delighted with the cleanliness, the comfort and the ease and timeliness of boarding. It was a choppy ride down to Portarlington in the morning, but that's out of everyone's control, right? Will definitely do this again.
Such an easy and pleasant way to travel across the bay.
I’m a fairly frequent traveler and really enjoy the experience either with friends or solo trips.
Easy booking, efficient boarding and you can get a local Portarlington wine on board to cap off the journey!
I loved my trip to Portarlington the crew was welcoming and the vessel was spotless:) thank you would come again!
