Plentiful General Store reviews
42Lovely place to get off the main road and enjoy the sounds of nature with a lovely coffee and cake or even a meal
Nice cafe with a fresh, cosy but contemporary look. The food is great and the staff are friendly, and tentative. Perfect cafe for a quick stop if travelling north toward king lake or beyond. This is a well accessible place with ample parking.
Great coffee and vanilla slice. It's pet friendly which is great. You can even treat your dog to a treat and puppichino.
Came in this today, I noticed that they were understaffed, felt for the poor girl running front of house on her own. Coffee was lovely though, so will definitely come back.
Past couple times have had a pretty average coffee, quality has reduced significantly since opening.
You know when food makes you smile and you know who ever made it loves what they do?
The Chilli and Feta scramble came out, smiled into my eyes on arrival and then my belly. I spotted the man responsible and said just that. He smiled large. 3 months into this gig and it obvious that Micheal tweaking the menu with “joy in the job” has worked for me today. Thank you Michael and thank you to your wife for wanting you to be around more for her and the kids. Plentiful General Store are not the only winners. Yum!
20/11/22 if I could be honest 2 & half stars for the food, although it took between 35 to 40 mins to receive our meals, it was very tasty. The singular staff member in the kitchen was obviously overwhelmed and on his own. There is one young girl who looks absolutely depressed to be there.not sure who was verbally abused in front of customers or not, that behaviour is not required, all people should be spoken to with respect. Thats how you build people and bring the team along, not treat people poorly. My assumption from previous reviews and what we experienced would be, the owner or lady/ladies may not know how to treat or train staff. Really need to treat people how you would like to be treated, common decency.it's not hard. Bottom line. Customer service really let this place down, not the food. One last thing with the responses from the owner or manager to the customer reviews are extremely unprofessional. Customers have not been rude and we provide constructive feedback.reflect, learn and change as you could have an amazing cafe.
Looks like a lovely cafe. Shame we couldn’t experience it. When we walked up to the counter, we were not acknowledged by any staff. No hi, hello, no nod, not one look. After politely waiting for quite some time, and hearing one staff member lecturing another right in front of us, we were still not being acknowledged by anyone, so we decided to try another cafe. As we walked away, the disgruntled, lecturing woman very loudly acknowledged the customer who had just come in behind us. I can only make assumptions as to why, but unfortunately we won’t be returning.
Cold coffee, cold meals yet the only one in the cafe. Maybe that was a sign. Who makes Eggs Benedict with fried eggs. No condiments for plain toast. Wanted one egg, expected to pay for two because that was on the menu. Won't be back.
My partner and I came in to get a quick take away coffee at the cafe today after seeing the good reviews. Cafe fit out looked really good so we were expecting something special. We walked up to the counter where a barista and two other staff members were to place an order and were ignored for 5+ minutes and had to embarrassingly endure watching an older female staff member scold a younger staff member regarding orders.
Hot tip - don’t do this in front of customers, and if you do, at least acknowledge the customers that are waiting and that you’ll be with them shortly.
After the dressing down finished, I expected to be acknowledged, but no, the older woman in a huff continued to ignore us, sort through papers and tap on the desk in an exasperated manner.
Another woman cut in front of us and asked for a knife and salt as her table hadn’t been set correctly, this was accommodated and then the woman continued to ignore us! I couldn’t believe it. It’s like we we were invisible.
My partner and I, sick of being ignored decided to leave and as soon as we did, the woman behind the counter immediately acknowledged the next person in line? Very strange behaviour and we won’t be back.
Doesn’t matter how great the place looks if the customer service is lacking,
Also - to the owner responding to 1 & 2 star ratings, people are actually giving you polite, constructive feedback and you’re not taking responsibility for any of it.
You’re in the customer service business, do better.
Stopped here for a coffee after always seeing their songs on the road. Glad we did and will definitely have to come back and try their breakfast menu.
A beautiful little cafe that serves splendid food and delightful coffee.
Staff are friendly and love to have a chat which is a wonderful bonus.
Looking forward to my next visit.
Great job team.
Very nice little cafe with with pretty good menu options for breakfast and lunch. Beef brisket burger, salt and pepper calamari and fish and chips were all very tasty and well cooked. The coffee was also excellent. The service was very good and even saw the staff go above and beyond when a customer dropped coffee on his clothes. Situated off a little street, like a service road, off Yan Yean road, and is very easy to miss; however this place is highly recommended for a quick bite and a coffee break.
The new owners of this store have turned it from an old run down general store to a modern, trendy and inviting cafe and store. The store has lush, healthy plants, pots, food items and the like. The cafe has delicious coffee, pastries, breads, sandwiches, wraps, salads, etc. They have a lunch menu from 11am. It's been a long time coming and locals are grateful you have persisted through COVID restrictions to reinvent this spot and transform it into something that will become a local favourite. The staff are friendly, welcoming and happy to help. Stop by and check out the new place, you'll be impressed.
Staff were pleasant to deal with. Happy to pay the $11.40 for a take-away toasted sandwich as it had high quality fillings and was prepared fresh outta the kitchen! (delicious)
After seeing this quaint cafe while on my bike I decided to drop in with my daughter after Uni. We chose to dine in for a quick in bite with a coffee before driving home.
We ordered at the counter and found a table easily. Our food was fine. She ordered a BLT which looked and tasted good and I had a ham and cheese croissant of which both were warmed up and done well.
But our coffees were mediocre. We didn't much like the taste of it, but we're very surprised to receive our coffees in take away cups when we were actually dining in. Why? Seemed stupid and very wasteful to us both. Despite that, the price was fair and the location is excellent.
My husband and I just visited your Cafe and I have to say that my husband said the burger he had was amazing and the chicken summer salad that I ordered was probably the best I have ever had. The service was friendly and faultless and our food came very quickly and was beautifully presented. We will definitely be back!
Amazing place.
Everyone must go and see the fresh and healthy food.
Excellent service
Bad experience when the “barista” spent more time gossiping with other customers rather then making coffee. They decided they would make my order after they had made the coffees of a customer who ordered after me, then rushing my coffee and getting it completely wrong. Good way to lose business practicing favouritism. All good and well to have a friendly chat but when you can’t get orders correct, priorities are skewed.
Very happy to have this lovely local a stone's throw away. Would consider myself a regular:)
Pro's:
Must have is the Plentiful smoothie
Hot chips are delicious and very reasonably priced.
They have Gelati!
Food is reasonably priced, in my opinion caters more towards brunch/lunch. Think fish and chips, burgers, ect
The owner Nick is sooo lovely and very accommodating with my 2 lively boys.
Constructive feedback:
I would like to see a larger range to the menu, pancakes, waffles - sweeter breakfast options.
I haven't managed to have a coffee that I've enjoyed as yet (it's quite milky for my liking)
Thanks for your response Nick. Once the coffee is perfected, Plentiful General Store will enjoy a much deserved 5 star rating and you won't be able to get rid of me.
Thanks to Nick who suggested I ask for a double shot! Coffee now hits the spot!
