Pirianda Garden reviews
26Visited these gardens on a Sunday afternoon nice and quiet doesn't get busy like the other more popular gardens in the Dandenongs. Set on 23 acres. Beautiful gardens with lots of different exotic trees from around the world, a fern gully, walking paths and signage along the way. The old stone home with rock garden is lovely. Toilets and plenty parking. Definitely worth a visit.
Visited in Autumn April 2022 and it is definitely a hidden gem, the beautiful autumn leaves were on full display without the hustle and bustle of similar local destinations. Steady incline and decline walking track which may be a tad difficult for some. Park is well kept and clean with visitors respecting the area and taking their rubbish home. Biggest plus for us was that it was dog friendly (must be on a leash).
***ENTER VIA HACKETTS ROAD***
Wonderful flowers and trees. Good Walk ways but a little steep in some areas. Excellent for a picnic.
Pirianda Garden houses both native and exotic plants and it is maintained by Park Victoria (grateful to them) and feel lucky to be Victorian. However, I don't recommend for anyone with knees and joint problem as it is situated on pretty slopy area (feel like going down the valley). Car Park that we were at is pretty small but toilet is really decent. Dogs must be on the leash at all times.
Nyc gardens. Numerous walking lanes. Coming back is all uphill. We went in winter so most leaves or colours were gone. Best time i guess would be autumn and the middle of spring. Lots of photo opportunities.
Beautiful range of trees and well designed pathways that weave in and out, making gardens seem so much bigger than they are and offer a feeling of solitude
Interesting garden, quite a variety of Cyprus trees. Stunning autumn colour. Not a large garden but big enough for a decent walk, sweet little paths, is on steep site and much like other gardens in the Dandenongs you have a bit of a steep climb back up. Dogs are welcome on leads.
This is such a beautiful hidden garden that can be quite difficult to get to. But it's worth it! Such large, gorgeous trees and plants and wonderful little areas to enjoy a picnic and a walk.the kids loved exploring and playing here
Not as big or as famous as the close by national Rhododendron Garden, but still very pretty and has beautiful autumn colour. A lot less crowded and never has parking problems.
Excellent, diverse range of plants and trees. Lovely, tranquil walk via terraced levels and meandering paths. Highly recommended
What a treat this garden is! I’ve been a few times now, and I’m always impressed at how well kept it all is, given the size of it. All the trees etc are labelled and it’s well mapped out. Beautiful place to come on your own first thing when no one else is around as it’s so peaceful. Very steep on the way back up, but it’s up in the Dandenong Ranges so you have to expect that!
A beautiful garden hidden away in the Dandenongs. Firstly a note on access - unless you drive a 4WD, you can only enter the gardens via the section of Hacketts Rd closer to Olinda-Monbulk Rd rather than its western counterpart as the latter has a very steep uphill unsealed road.
The garden features stunning hydrangeas in full bloom in the summer months, and there's plenty of foliage. As it's lesser known, it was super quiet when we visited. The path is mostly loose gravel and some sections are quite steep so do mind your footing, especially on rainy days.
Very much worth a visit for those hydrangeas!
Beautiful gardens. Hesitate to recommend because everyone may want to go there! A beautiful peaceful gardens.
MAKE SURE YOU GO FROM THE TOP (MONBULK / OLINDA RD ENTRANCE)! Or your car might end up on the roof.
This garden is enchanting, etherial and magical. If you're lucky, you might have a kookaburra land on your arm and snitch some of your food! He was very fond of my concoction of berry clusters and cream cheese! Lovely place to go and spend a lazy day but it is on a hill, so going down is easy but coming back up took a bit more effort - LOL!
Great Variety of Japanese trees and around the world. Steep walking paths. Overall great experience
Beautiful place, very quiet and peaceful if you get there early in the morning. Definitely a hidden gem on the Mountain.
A quieter garden in the Dandenongs that is such a great place for quiet contemplation.amazing plants and a bit of history too
My favourite garden in the Dandenongs to visit. So many rare trees including Franklinia, Tetracentron and Cryptomeria (snake form). Pictured is a mature persimmon in full autumn display.
Lack of information available at entrance hut, toilets non functioning, no running water, apart from that lovely stroll through the garden.
Entrance road is a steep non-tar road, 4WD only and there was no warning about this anywhere online. There is no alternative entrance too: (
