Great food and big portions. The atmosphere is great and the staff is so kind. Overall great place
Have ordered many times from here. Cheap prices and you always get a massive portion of chips. The chips alone in the seafood basket or schnitzel pack will fill you up.
My only complaint is that the flake isn’t good here and the fried chicken was a bit dry. Everything else I’ve had was excellent.
Yummy chicken, hot chips and salads.
My only criticism is the chicken is a bit salty for me. But then I'm sure many others enjoy that level of saltiness.
Very friendly staff too.
Very fast, but terrible food. Gravy is basically water don’t waste your $1 on it. Cheap and nasty all round. Avoid the under cooked chicken is my advice.
The food inn this place looks like it was going to be great. The atmosphere is clean and tidy. The staff are pretty quick and responsive to what you would like.
Being an extremely hot day I didn't want chicken and chips like I normally would. So decided on a chicken roll and a coke. After I order the staff member turned the corner in the counter and then got something out of the fridge. You can't see behind the petition they have there. Then there was the unmistakable sound of the "Lazy Chef" (microwave). Not 1 min after it dinged was a handed my chicken roll. Took it to my car and guess what stone cold in sections and like liquid lava in others. Be careful what you order!
The worst charcoal shop! These people humiliated me and made feel like I wasn’t a customer…. Terrible customer service. And the chicken was really dry!
Price was pretty good and so were the chips. The chicken however was very dry - we threw half of it out and the gravy was not so great. Shop is worn out and dirty. Staff are friendly.
Great takeaway food. Always a pleasure to interact with and they know my sons favourite order, they’re patient with him while he learns to manage his pocket money budget and order there. I wish I could make their gravy at home!
While the Charcoal Chicken and Chicken Rolls are ok; eat anything out of the Bain Marie (Dim Sims/Potato Cakes) at your own risk.
The original and still the best. Lived on the 1/4 chicken and chips as a teenager and as i've travelled the world and refined my palate I still come crawling back to the GOATs
? Chicken Schnitzel Roll
You might have noticed already that I’m on a search to find the best chicken schnitzel rolls in Melbourne. Growing up in Altona, this was the go-to Charcoal Chicken shop for everyone, and the roll here was definitely a favourite. A focaccia bread roll with a flavoursome, crispy schnitzel, lettuce, tomato, onion and mayo. Service is always friendly, the prices are low and the portions are large. I believe they have changed hands over the past couple of years but to me it still tastes the same. Great hot chips!
I tried chicken roll, absolutely disgusting. The warmed it in macro wave, looked like a lump of dough. Never go there again
We ordered through menulog and received 4 completely raw Chicken Schnitzel rolls, chips that were essentially cardboard, terrible gravy and potato salad.
Called the restaurant after having received a refund from menulog to tell them we were given raw chicken, the person on the phone didn't apologise or even sound remorseful. They’re definitely handing out raw chickens left and right. Don’t go here.
I live in Melbourne CBD and i still go out here for chicken and chips about once a month, delicious
The chicken was great it was perfect size and was not dry, however the gravy was probably a 1 out of 5 it was watery and had no taste.
Not hipster friendly at all but it is cheap and hot and I have gotten off the train just to get hot chips there.
Dont know what happened over lockdown while you were unnecessarily closed but you clearly forgot how to cook chicken. If its not dry and stringy its cold dry and stringy.
If you're in the mood for takeaways, this place is fantastic. The chicken schnitzel roll tastes similar to a Hungry Jack's chicken burger. Very cheap - one $7 roll can go between two adults for a decent snack
Not worth the visit changed hand 2-3 years ago not same quality can't upsize already over priced small meal even if you want to pay more to get what you want. Not willing no give what customers want spend money elsewhere
