Piccolo Mondo reviews
66 I recently celebrated my 60th birthday at this fantastic restaurant. We had the pleasure of dining here with my family celebrating this milestone and I must say, it was a truly exceptional experience. From the moment I entered the establishment, I was greeted warmly by the friendly staff, and the inviting ambiance, and after speaking to Jenny I immediately put my mind at ease as I knew straight away that she was going to do a great job. JENNY went above and beyond to fullfill my needs. Thank you The menu offers a wide range of culinary delights, catering to various tastes and dietary preferences. Whether you're a meat lover, a seafood enthusiast, or a vegetarian or vegan, there is something for everyone. The dishes are amazing
there is something for everyone. They are thoughtfully crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the presentation is simply stunning. The service throughout my dining experience was impeccable. The waitstaff was attentive and knowledgeable, and accommodating and very friendly. My mother in law had the best day talking to the waitstaff in Italian which made her day. They also were able to recommend excellent wine!
Thank you so much we will be back and will highly recommend your restaurant.
Cheers Maria Giosserano. Dec 2023.
We had pizzas and calamari for lunch. Their calamari was so good, crispy outside and tender on the inside. Pizzas are okay.
Such an amazing and polite staff, the owner was very lovely and could have a good conversation.would come back here again when I visit Melbourne again.
The restaurant on a busy street. Pulled in but the restaurant staff, got no expectations at all, turns out a nice experience. The food was nice, authentic Italian cuisine. We had scallops and the seafood pasta. The staff are warm and welcoming. Food came quite fast. Over all experience is great.
Amazing food and great old fashioned service.nothing was too much trouble and Tony was great fun and a we will make it our place to go when we visit melbourne again!
Absolutely Amazing experience as always.
The food is always so fresh and tasty and the service is impeccable. The staff are so friendly:) and attentive.
Was my daughter's birthday and the whole staff surprised her with a lovely desert while sing 'Happy Birthday' to her.
Thank you guys. Michael and Madison
Real Italian atmosphere made even better with the Grand Prix and whole heap of Ferrari's lined up outside the restaurant. The food was superb and and the service was super friendly and quick.great place to go lunch or other
Went here purely based on previous reviews and was not disappointed. Even in these tough times of staff shortages our service was friendly and relatively quick given how busy it was. Food was delicious. We had a mixed pasta plate which is a great way of trying several different dishes if you are like me and can't decide! Kids were happy too as they had a kids menu with all the usual stuff.
Very authentic feel to it and quite reasonable in price too. Would definitely recommend.
Went for lunch today, was greeted very kindly by gentlemen on the street but that’s where the service stopped! SHOCKING service! Food average at best, small main meals with very HIGH price tag for what it was. Overall VERY DISAPPOINTING AND OVERPRICED!
Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Fantastic prices. What more could be wanted?
On an extremely hot day the owner welcomed us in and catered to our needs, going out of his way to make a pizza that wasn’t even on the menu. Very friendly and hospitable.
Decor is nice and the atmosphere is exactly what you want it to be when on Lygon Street.
Very friendly staff and the food is fresh and beautifully cooked. Fantastic restaurant, would definitely recommend.
The food is very tasty and of high quality, the waitress named Sol is very attentive and friendly. A highly recommended place to eat! Thanks
Excellent service, friendly staff, exceptional food. The best food I’ve tasted in a long time.
Had a amazing feed got the pasta platter and the meat platter was amazing well presented and delicious highly recommend this Place service was really great very nice atmosphere nice food
Best carbonara, and amazing service so kind they were. Would definitely recommend and i will be returning when i can
Terrible food and service. Ordered a linguine prawn pasta. It came out without 2 key ingredients. Claimed they had changed the menu and those ingredients not available. That rules out several other dishes on the menu. No information given about what was available and what was not. In the meantime the other people in my party had their food and ate their meal, before I got mine. We didn’t eat dinner together. No apology or compensation offered. When questioned upon paying the bill, they refused to take the 1 meal off the bill and offered abuse all the way out of the restaurant about how they wouldn’t make money if they gave away free meals.
The car salesman out the front convinced us to give it a try.
Glad he did, was really nice.
My Wife and I both had seafood and you could tell it was fresh.
Service was great
The absolutely best service I think I've ever had, amazingly super friendly waiters/people and the food was incredibly home style but superbly tasty, generous serves. A must for all, can't wait to go back!
Great meal. Family restaurant with super friendly charismatic service. The lamb was cooked perfectly
Worst dining experience I’ve ever had, made worse by nasty, abusive male manager
This was absolutely appalling.
When we walked passed we were approached “Eat here! Come in! ” Don’t fall for it - you’re in for a shocker if you do…
We ordered 2 glasses of wine, and one came. We had to flag down for the second - fine, mistakes happen.
Food took 1.5 hours; we asked where it was and eventually it came.
The shellfish was empty- hardly any meat inside whatsoever, and the pasta was revolting.
When we asked for a discount:
- we were told no
- we were told by one person that the reason the food came out late was because a staff member forgot to put the ticket in the kitchen.
- we were told by the manager that the food took that long because our order included shellfish and it “just takes that long. ”
- large group of staff surrounded us to intimidate us
- all staff kept blaming someone else for the issue “kitchen/ new staff/ manager etc. There was zero accountability, everyone blaming one another was really unprofessional
- the manager was verbally abusive, yelling, getting in our faces and trying to tell us how he likes to be spoken to.
- the manager then brought out our dishes back our from the back, to the till, and pointed at it yelling “see, you did eat it! ” (The plate was full of empty shellfish, as it had arrived to our table).
Worst dining experience ever, made worse by nasty, abusive management.
Had the greatest experience at Piccolo Mondo! Maddy was so wonderful and booked us the best table for dinner. Also giving me suggestions for the rest of our Melbourne stay. The venue was lively
and the food was absolutely amazing! Can’t wait to eat here again:)
