Phờ Nom Collins St reviews
31Fine but not outstanding. I had a chicken vermicelli bowl and the serving was quite small compared to other places. There also weren't many diverse textures or flavours. It was OK for a light lunch but I wouldn't be back.
Decent place for a quick lunch in Collins Street. We ordered the Pho Tofu + Vegetable ($15.95) and varieties of Rice Paper Roll ($4.50 each).
The Pho was much more expensive than what you can get in other pho places, so it was very disappointing that it was plain and wasn't served with the usual plate of basil, chillies, and lime. I had to add a lot of sauces (which were luckily on the table) to add a bit more flavour.
The Rice paper rolls, however, were enjoyable and worth the extra price.
Food is overpriced for the quantity and quality of what you get. Had the lemongrass beef rice bowl and it was about 3/4 rice and 1/4 everything else. Ok option if you're in the area and looking for a workday take-away lunch, but I wouldn't go out of my way. There are better options within a few seconds walking distance.
Love the food. Huge portion. A lot of sprouts which I love. Staff are very friendly as helpful.
Pho can be better. Portion and taste is inconsistent. Small amount of sliced beef - sometimes not enough noodles and soup is watered down if you arrive late or if the shop is busy.
Good place to have Vietnamise pho.
Soup and noodle were fresh, warm enough, and tasty to dine in for a lunch when it rains all day long outside.
Staffs were friendly, very welcoming, and knowing what they are selling.
Recommended!
Grabbed a late lunch here… the food was good, it took a little while but I was there shortly before closing. Perhaps the baguette could have been crunchier but over all I really enjoyed it.
Waited 20 minutes for a simple combo meal. Not sure if they were under staffed or just incompetent. Ridiculous.
Pho in a cup! WT.
Then when asked for a bowl I was told NO.
Who eats pho out of a cup!
Got a rice bowl with lemongrass chicken for lunch on Friday March 25th, the meat came medium-rare, which is not quite how chicken should be done. Unless you’re in a mood for salmonella stay away from this place.
I don't normally write reviews but we had such a HIGH anticipation walking into the shop because of the high ratings. Even the Vietnamese restaurants at Docklands will surpass this place's standards given how poor quality and expensive the meal was. Honestly, we were thoroughly disappointed.
We ordered an $18 Phenomenal meal with 1 large Phở, 2 spring rolls and an iced lemon tea. Everything tasted like a joke. The spring rolls looked like 2 sad burnt biscuits that were very hard to bite into. They were frozen, not fresh and the size of my pinkie. The watery, runny sauce tasted like it's been out for a long time. The Phở was the biggest let down. The broth lacked substance, couldn't taste any bone broth flavour and spices at all. Where was the punchy flavour? Also the basils and bean sprouts weren't provided which made the Phở tasted worse. The meat quality was tender so it redeemed some value but it only had 5 slices of meat in the "big" pho. For $18, I could've had 2 decent bowls of hearty five-stars worthy Phở in Docklands or CBD.
We also ordered a Crispy Pork Bánh Mì to try as many people raved about it. It was a good average. Barely any pork, mainly just lots of carrots which once again felt like a scam. But this one we managed to finish because we were starving.
Not to be offensive but most of its customers were Westerners lining up. So I think it's fair to say this shop caters toward Western's flavour profile. Nothing wrong with that, it's just that we were after traditional Phở hence the disappointments. It's like why Asians normally don't order honey lemon chicken or black bean beef rice/noodles because it isn't traditional.
Only been in Melbourne for two weeks and work near the Deloitte building on Collin street and didn’t know where to start for good food. Came across Pho Nom and their Pho broth is super tasty and perfect to have on a cold weather and together I had the cafe su da (traditional Vietnamese ice coffee). My lunch buddy got the $12 deal which is on the top left of the Pho noodle, which came with a drink, traditional rice paper roll and mini pho bo (beef noodle in a cup).
Quite possibly my favourite pho broth in town! Also can't go past their rice paper rolls when grabbing a bite on the go.
Staff have always been super nice when I've been too, and right at the bottom of the escalators of Virgin gym makes it easy if I need a bite after a workout.
Having to repeat myself a couple times and waiting in long lines as well as seeing grumpy faces doesn't project customer service. Priced poorly and taste is nothing special.
Super nice crispy pork banh mi, it would be better if there are more pork. Haven’t tried pho, but the banh mi was good, the best ones I’ve tried in Mel. Highly recommend
I ordered Pho Bo Hanoi. I'm not an pho expert but still. It was way to sweet for my taste. It should be more salty for the original Hanoi taste. Service was quick and staff was friendly
Very disappointed. Waited 20 mins for a Banh Mi and it was not worth the wait. No taste, I asked for chilli and there was at most 2 little slithers. Soggy fat on the so called crispy pork, and not a nice crispy roll like I have had elsewhere. The star is for the service only as they seem to be working hard.
Tried the rare beef phoo and I wasn't able to chew the beef: (only ate the noodles and the booth
The rice paper rolls are good, there’s low carb ones with herbs and veg instead of noodles inside
Hmmm because the review was good, I thought its ganna b great.but it was average. I like the consept of getting own sides (asian basil, lemon, chil etc). But the soup was not good at all. I had to add alot of hoisin sauce to eat it. Im disappointed. I havent tried Banh mi.maybe high rating is from other dishes.but definitely not from pho.
