Pho Huong Viet reviews
75Almost every aspect of our dining experience at Pho Huong Viet was subpar. The service was inattentive and brusk. The beers were room temperature. The chilli oil smelled fishy and the 'fresh' chillis had dried out like they'd been sliced up days ago. My watered-down Tom Yum soup lacked flavour and spice. The San Choi Bao looked suspiciously like the chef had used store-bought, pre-chopped, frozen vegetables. The pho, while tasty enough, was served warm rather than hot. Even the Vietnamese ice coffee left something to be desired. I don't really like leave bad reviews but I was rather unimpressed with this experience.
It is an amazing restaurant I have ever tried, thank you for the friendly services. I Hope I can get back soon. Best of luck for the future. Cheersss
Pho soup is average. The rice vermicelli portion is quite small and the grilled lemongrass pork is a bit dry and hard. 3 colour drink too much coconut milk. Can't taste anything else after you mix everything up.
Taste was alright, but service not that good in terms of language one of front of house said bad word
The worst pho place in Melbourne. No basil leaf provided with Pho, No lemon grass in the LEMON Grass Pork Chops Rice. The restaurant smells
Ordered chicken and prawns rolls and tofu rolls on menulog. Was delivered within an hour. Tofu rolls were amazing. Chicken and prawns rolls were average.
Went to this place for lunch with a friend. Both of us ordered special pho and we shared a clay pot pork rib. The pho tasted quite authentic and we enjoyed the meal. The clay pot dish was good too. Not bad overall, might return for pho again in the future.
I would have given zero if there was this option. Delivery came without chopsticks and I thought they might have missed it and called them. Then I got told that they boss made the rule that no chopsticks would be given to deliveries. Do you expect me to eat by hand? It’s not like everyone ordering from their homes, what if people don’t have cutleries at office or other places?
If I could I would give it negative stars. Right when we walk into it there is a pungent smell of urine. The ramp inside is absolutely filthy and oily like you can slip anytime. We ordered our food and nothing came after 30 mins, only to find out the order has been missed. It didn't come even after a few urges. More people came in after us and got their food and we didn't even hear a single apology. We decided to leave in the end and went somewhere else.
We order 3 bowls of Large pho special beef and 80% are the fat not meat. I will not come back anymore.
Been here many times, although some dishes usually turn up incorrect or not at all. Tonight was a truly fascinatingly poor and scary event. After receiving our entrees, (quite acceptable), the owner and chef started a loud verbal argument which then turned violent with the chef smashing up tables and running around like a lunatic. After a 30 minute frightening floorshow of smashed crockery and psychotic behavior, we politely waited for our remaining dishes, for another 40 minutes and as the restaurant started to fill up, we were told that can't have any more food because the chef resigned (watching meal after meal delivered to the other 7 tables in record time!) I felt scared for the wellbeing of my older parents and this poor excuse for a restaurant and its lackadaisical staff exhibited an absent duty of care for its patrons. The most unacceptable part, was that we were issued no form of apology or any compensation. However, the owner happily took our money and welcomed us to come back again! Haha - I DON'T THINK SO! You should be disgraced with such a performance and shut down.
Not an expert in the pho department, but decided to try it even after reading several negative comments about their pho.
I loved their chicken and vegetable pho. Ordered medium sized bowl, it was more than enough for 2 person. It was delicious. 5/5.
Nasi goreng and soda drinks were good too. 3/5
Butter chicken wings: Dry and hard. Not fresh? 2/5
Black pepper fish was dissatisfying. Fish was hard, flaky and dull tasted. I liked the black pepper sauce and had my rice with the veggies. 2/5
What’s good:
- spring roll- nice and crisp
- goat hotpot - pretty close to what I used to have in Vietnam
- seafood glass noodle salad
What needs to improve:
- Wait time for the food to come out. There were 4 of us and the wait time was a bit long. They brought everything out at once and we thought that was not good as we were already hungry.
What confused us:
- Vietnamese pancake with carrot and char siu, it was just … weird.
Terrible experience here tonight. Come here once every week or two to get tofu & veggie pho with my brother because it’s close to our house. Had one previous bad experience when we recieved our pho with bugs throughout. Tonight we ordered 2 seafood stir fry and 4 other items $100 total order. I repeated the order 2 times on the phone because I knew there was a language barrier, the worker repeated it back and I couldn’t understand her so for the third time I repeated it back loudly and clearly. She responded “yes” to confirm the order. When we came to pick up they had made beef stir fry, we said we ordered seafood and they yelled that we didn’t and there was another lady working yelling towards my mum in vietnemese. I wrote the families order down on my phone before ordering so I know what I said, we don’t eat beef so there’s no way I accidentally said it. The staff were extremely rude and we will NEVER be coming back here. You’ve lost very regular customers. Only half the family has dinner now, very frustrating. Photo attached of the bugs we recieved on a previous visit.
Ordered a pho rare beef takeaway and while eating there was a huge strand of hair (was super long and a bit dirty)! Immediately stopped eating and ordered something else! Looking at the most recent reviews, this seems like a recurring thing! What a shame!
I had diarrhoea after having special chicken pho here. It do tastes good if you don’t mind sitting on the toilet for the next 24 hours.
Ordered special chicken pho medium size, the soup is bland, too much water is added, with several pieces of chicken breast, and some chicken hearts and giblets, but these are very hard to chew.
Is this even Pho? Seriously don't come here unless you want to be seriously disappointed. Pho had soft noodles and thick, tough beef slices. Pork chop rice lacked flavour and rice was too soft.
Before, I used to come here a lot, the food is ok but the service is really BAD. That’s why I didn’t come here often. This time i came back they were super rude to my sister. The way they talk in Vietnamese and they think we didn’t understand. They were not nice at first but i think it’s ok until they talked in Vietnamese.
I hope that they can change the way they service in here otherwise they gonna lose all of the customers. Specifically the woman who stands in the couner and the man talk with her.
I wont never come here anymore.
There was insect eggs on the vietnamese mint given with the pho which I ordered, as the mint leaves were not cleaned properly.
I told the cashier lady about it and she said it is just a dust and she didn't even apologise for not cleaning the leaves before it is served to the customer.
Horrible experience and I will never visit the restaurant ever again.
