PLEASE READ!

So i just came back from this camp and all of these reviews are so dramatic. The camp was one of the best camps ever! The people there are soooo nice and respectful, the cabins are really nice and nothing wrong with them, and the food, even though its not the best it is camp after all. The food isnt meant to be sooo perfect. The camp is so beautiful and so fun! I loved it so much i wish i could go again! I love seeing the kangaroos so cuteee. I recommend it.:)

We really enjoyed our Year 4 camp at Campaspe Downs. Everything was well organised, and the staff went beyond my expectations to make our stay comfortable and engaging. Regardless of the weather, there was a great variety of activities for students to do that were thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our cabins were clean and warm, though some were due to be refreshed, they were all fit for purpose. In the dining room, there was a good range of food options and all dietary requirements were met. The morning and afternoon tea each day was a treat, and there was so much food that we didn’t need a supper option. The hot breakfast each morning was a nice surprise that I had not had on previous school camps. Campaspe Down’s spacious grounds were well maintained and well utilised. There were a number of other schools there at the same time and it was easy to imagine we had the whole camp to ourselves as there was very little cross over between groups. Students were excited to see kangaroos lounging in the morning sun on our last day and were sad the camp had come to an end. I look forward to the opportunity to attend another camp at Campaspe Downs in the future.

It kind of sucked, the food was okay and the lake stank. Some of the events were really boring and the cabins won't that nice.

Great camp, friendly staff and fun activities for all. Not sure what the previous comments on food are about. Always has been great in my experience and kids have always enjoyed.

My son had the best time at PGL! The staff were really fun and the zip line over the lake was ‘awesome’!

Well, the activities were really fun and the instructors were very nice and detailed with their instructions, but there are some factors in why this review is missing 3 stars. First is the food. The meat on the spaghetti Bolognese was very clumpy and even oily. The scrambled eggs tasted like rubber. The wraps were good. The chicken schnitzel was very oily, the breadcrumbs weren't cooked and it was very mushy on the inside. The mash potatoes literally had a solid bottom, I could pick it up and it wouldn't topple. Bacon and eggs and hashbrowns was good, sausage rolls left me with a bad stomachache. I spent most of camp relying on apples for a source of food, and even drink, which I'll get to.

2. Water. The water they serve at the cafeteria literally has a tint of brown, and tastes like dirt. I did try the hydration stations, and the water there was good, but unfortunately there was an aftertaste that also tasted like dirt. I didn't want to drink any of the water, so I was relying on the juice of the apples to keep me hydrated. That didn't work, I may be taking a day off school because of dehydration.

3. Miscellaneous. The cabins were fine, but in the cabin I was in, the heater was on all day so when I went to sleep the room was very hot. I turned off the heater, but it's broken. Throughout the whole night, the heater was turning off and on, keeping the room at a rather hot temperature. And another thing, the glasses in the cafeteria. The glasses were very dirty, I felt a rough texture on the inside of the glass.

That concludes my review. The staff were nice, the activities were really fun but those 3 points prevented me from giving 3 extra stars.

The kids had a ball at school camp (in the pouring rain!) Thanks to the crew for a super fun cap and the ability to move indoors to more fun activities. My 9 year old's highlight was ziplining in the rain!

My ten year old daughter attended her first school camp last week, staying at PGL Campaspe Downs. She's not known for her resilience and was pretty anxious about the outdoor activities. The first thing she reported after arriving home from camp was that she did all the activities and didn't cry once! Followed by, the food was great and she had an awesome time. All credit to the staff at PGL, and her school teachers, for getting the best out of her and making sure it was an amazing experience.

I had such low expectations for this place but it turned out to be really good. I read the reviews and I was so disgusted I even didn’t want to go but I ended up enjoying it a lot. The positives were the activities, they were really fun. Especially the flying fox and teamwork activities. The food was decent and seemed fresh. The breakfast and lunches were good. We had cereal, toast, sausages, fruit, scrambled eggs and hash browns. The pasta was a little undercooked but wasn’t that bad and the second night we had snitzel which I didn’t eat, instead I had salad and roast potatoes which was yum. Now the negatives. The cabins walls are pretty thin and my cabins door was missing so my room was now connected to the other room so we didn’t really have much privacy with our own friends. The door to the toilet in the cabin was rusty. I got locked in and my friend had to bust the door open which was pretty scary. The cabins do not have soap to wash your hands and to have a shower so bring soap cuz I had to use hand sanitiser the whole time (not in the shower lol) BUT BRING YOUR OWN WATER THE WATER THEY PROVIDE AIN’T YUMMY DARLING. OH AND I LIKED THE DESSERTS AND AFTERNOON TEA’S, THEY WERE PRETTY SLAY UWUUUWUWU. Hehe btw I just came back. I highly recommend unless you’re a fussy eater and a conditioned person.

Loved this place! The site is beautiful and the staff were super friendly and helpful.
A great place to come with a large group and have the opportunity to do some fun activities! Would definitely come back. I certainly didn't have bugs in my cabin and the water was totally fine, so I'm confused about the prior negative reviews.

A beautiful location, large scale camp. The cabins were clean, warm in winter and well presented. Friendly, professional & experienced staff make this a very welcoming break.

My son came back from this school camp today. He said the activities were fun. However, the water was barely drinkable and the food wasn’t much better. For the money paid, it certainly could have been better.
If your kid is going to this camp (though I’d advise to not send them) I’d suggest to pack bottled water and snacks incase they don’t eat the food served. The shower water was cold. The shower rooms not well kept. Then the cabins were filled with cockroaches and large spiders. And to top it off, my son has returned with a temp of 38 and is quite unwell. Certainly won’t be going back if this is a school camp in the future and will be discouraging others from sending their children to this camp.

DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD OR BOOK FOR SCHOOL CAMP! The drinking water is not safe. My child along with many others have returned home sick all complaining that the drinking water was disgusting and like dirt. Teachers eventually provided bottled water but not in time. Food prepared with this water would also be unsafe. Very disappointed - Clearly this issue has not been addressed now that I see all the previous reviews!

DO NOT BRING YOUR KIDS HERE! This was my first ever High school camp due to Covid and it was very disappointing the food was COLD and inedible and the water is a whole Nother story it taste like DIRT all the girls felt super SICK after having it including me and in the bedrooms it is absolutely disgusting on our three days there there were two RATS in rooms and BUGS everywhere you can see the roof is sinking in and they have very thin walls I came home crying like crazy from feeling terribly sick and having the worst three days of this year I am terrified to ever go camping again this is not an exaggeration please don’t bring your kids here
