PETstock South Melbourne

I went to the South Melbourne market pet store and got exactly what I needed without the interrogation. Staff refused to sell me a goldfish at pet stock unless I bought a filter from them. They claimed my fish tank wasn’t the correct size or shape. I clean my fish tank regularly and I don’t need to explain myself to the staff nor do I need the up sale. My fish tank is round and all filters are made for square tanks, hence why I clean it regularly.

Absolutely disgusting pet grooming service. DO NOT GET YOUR DOG GROOMED HERE.

I booked in my 4 month old puppy for her first ever groom. When I arrived groomer mentioned it was perfect the groom was booked in at 10am as they’re usually pretty quiet in the mornings and it’s good for puppies.

I was also told by the groomer it’ll take around 2 hours. I get a call 2 hours later which I answer to my puppy howling crying in the background - I get told by the groomer that “ we just couldn’t get to grooming your dog if you can please pick her up”.

I’m not entirely sure what possessed the groomer to leave my puppy locked up in a crate for 2 whole hours just for me to pick her up ungroomed and distressed. I wasn’t given any explanation as to why she was kept for 2 hours, no apologies or compensation for a groom in the future (not that I would bring my puppy back there anyway).

Extremely disappointing service.

Petstock is a fantastic store for all your pet needs. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always willing to assist with any questions or concerns. The store is clean and well-organized, making it easy to find what you need. The product selection is vast, ranging from premium food brands to toys and accessories. They also offer grooming services and pet adoption events. I highly recommend Petstock for anyone looking for a one-stop shop for all things pet-related.

Service here is always super friendly, they are well stocked and will happily check in their store if their shelf stock is lower.
There is often parking right in front of the store too or in the surrounding streets.
Alao, petstock rewards mean you're often leaving with a decent discount too.

I was dog sitting and needed a lead. The place was understaffed so it took a while for me to get help, but the lady was super friendly and helpful and acknowledged the situation so I can’t fault her on that:)

Didnt stock up on pets but used the self-service dog wash. $10 per 10 min. Very clean and tidy area. Thanks

The staff were very lovely and helpful! They were very knowledgeable with helping me select food choices for my kitty and the lady also carried the huge cat tower to the counter for me too! Highly, recommended if you're looking a for cozy place to shop for pet supplies or adopting!

This used to be my goto to pet shop until today. I just recently purchased a huge fish bowl and only have one fish which seems a bit lonely. The fish were on the top shelf and there was a platform in front of the tank. I used it to have a look at the fish I was going to purchase. A team member obviously having a bad day
walked over and in an extremely patronising way asked me to get down. I didn’t have a problem with that if I had fallen the store may be liable. Maybe they should put a sign saying employees only on it I asked to purchase 2 small black moor fish and she looked at me like I was a
Low life and started asking 20 questions. And said we don’t recommend that you have more than one fish in a bowl did I have my tank set up they need a filtration system etc. I do have all those things and bought the filter, air pump, gravel, plant and an ornament for the tank when I purchased the bowl. I said if it’s a problem I will make my purchase elsewhere. She sarcastically went on and then asked how many did I want. I said None and walked out! They have a sign saying rudeness etc will not be tolerated maybe they staff should follow the same rules.

We love PETstock South Melbourne and are so proud to have our Bell & Bone Dental Sticks and Collagen Sticks available in their store! The most amazing staff and product range, we highly recommend!

Every visit is great, the service is wonderful, the shop is always clean and tidy, PETstock is so much cheaper than pet barn! Plus the added discounts when you spend is such a money saver!

Staff are friendly and sell good quality items. Could get busy at some time, you may have to wait for a while. My go to pet store in Melbourne

Went to the store at 4: 55 on a Sunday and the door was already locked with people still inside. When the staff member came to the door at 5pm on the dot and opened it to let customers out I pleaded with them to allow me buy a single bag of dog food and that I already knew what I wanted and had been waiting since before close of business and I was extremely apologetic for asking them to wait on me as I had just finished work, and the woman literally closed the door in my face and said "we can't do that". Mind you this is not the first poor experience I've had with the entitled person that seems to be the manager there. Customer service at its finest. Your business should be so proud of itself. If I could rate 0 stars I would.

Great place for pet supplies. Staff are very attentive and friendly.you can also adopt a fur ball if you want here which is amazing!

So after being a regular customer for many years, we won't be spending any money with you anymore. I understand that rules need to be in place, however in life there are times when they can be wavered, however not at Petstock South Melbourne. We arrived at 5.01 after a harrowing day knowing we desperately needed crickets for our little one at home who had been neglected and would be extremely hungry.
Whilst everything was still on the pavement (remember it's 5.01) and we would be out by 5.02 we got, sorry we close at 5. The live crickets are quite often neglected or thrown out so I would have thought as a regular (not anymore) it would have been an easy and advantageous transaction for all. Once again I understand that systems have to be followed, however we were trying to get food that isn't readily available but imperative.
We also had correct money that wouldn't have effected the balancing of tills.
Very disappointed.

So glad that they had what I needed but wish there was someone with reptile expertise as I had a few questions that the staff couldn't answer

This is a really good pet store. Happy to direct when they don't have the product, and great with testing aquarium water.

These guys have a great range at the usual pet stock prices. They’re going out of their way to operate safely in the current global health climate, and have a number of measures to keep shoppers safe. Very friendly team as well! I’ll definitely be back.

Staff were rude, dismissive and unhelpful. Extremely disappointed by our experience and think management should re-evaluate their staffing choices and customer service training.
