Peninsula Private Hospital reviews
87Worst hospital ever! Go to a public hospital instead. My dad was given 2 days by their social worker to get into respite care or be sent home with no home help after a foot amputation. No follow up care given, dressings were incorrect multiple times and now the respite care are being hung up on when they call when all they want is the care plan so that my dad can get a nurse at home. If I could now give negative stars, I would.
This facility is very poorly staffed and run. Twice my Sister in Law has been sent home in a very unhealthy situation, purely because they cannot figure out the extend of her sickness. Told to go and see her GP is she doesn't improve. WHAT! This is the same Hospital! That sent her father home to my wife and my house, who promptly died after being discharged 3 days prior. Suggest that a MAJOR OVERHAUL is required to even bring this place up to minimal standards. Embarrassed and will be taking her to Frankston General Hospital, when she relapses.
After spending 6 nights in this hospital not been able to sleep as I was right next door to a walk way where everyone stopped to talk no mater what time in the morning and being next to the kitchen I would not recommend his hospital for the amount of money we are charged per stay. I asked for bottle water can’t even get a bottle of water told by the nurse it’s what it is you need to drink the filtered water. NEWS alert filtered water does not stink of choline like the bathroom water. This hospital is a disgrace it’s a money making game no patient care
My mum has spent most of this year in and out of Peninsula Private including a few stints in ICU. The nurses were all lovely, except one who was ready to stab me in the eye for innocently looking at my mums paperwork. If there was signage somewhere saying “nurses & doctors eyes only” I would’ve respected that but there wasn’t. It was a folder, on the floor, leaning against a wall. I walked away hoping she wasn’t in contact with my mum at anytime, she was so abrupt, with a tone that said “why don’t you know this, stupid”. In hindsight I understand why I shouldn’t have touched the folder, anyone could write anything which would affect patient care, but for humanities sake, speak to people without contempt. I just wanted to keep tabs on my mums care. That aside, the facilities are great & the care given to mum was comforting.
This place is exhausting to say the very least. Not only do you pay an excessive fee to be seen in emergency to wait longer than required for pain relief, finally see a doctor and express your concerns and unbearable pain in tears. Finally get pain relief, feel relieved with the doctors plan to then be given a room. Unfortunately once you leave the emergency ward they don’t communicate with the nurses in the other wards and you find yourself repeating everything you’ve already explained. It’s now 1pm the following day and I’m still waiting to see a doctor. Everything the doctor said in emergency went out the window. I’ve now been in my room for 13 hours waiting on a doctor and a plan. Have no idea when I’m leaving, have no idea when the doctors going to arrive with a plan that could take god knows how long. The food is atrocious and I witnessed a horrible senior nurse tell off a student nurse In my private room that I found appalling. No regard for the patient. The student nurse Mel was lovely and handled herself well but that nurse was a disgrace. The way this private hospital is run is appalling to say the very least. If the doctor doesn’t come by 3pm let us know the nurse says? I came in at 7pm last night and am still here in my room getting very frustrated.
Ramsay health you need to focus on in house policies and procedures. Because from what I’m seeing there is none.
Also like other feedback, provide healthy nutritional meals and perhaps upgrade old the furniture that belongs in the tip.
It’s 1: 15 when is a doctor coming to see me?
This is a disaster.
Above and beyond! Mum (86) forgot her reading glasses. She needed to fill out (lots of) forms for an ablation procedure. The lovely lady behind the desk (Wed 11 Oct) lent hers to my Mum. Thank you!
Wonderful hospital and staff. I had an operation done here and was looked after by Dr. Efe Obudu. Everything went well and the process was very smooth regarding billing and aftercare. Highly recommend.
This place goes above and beyond to ensure patients needs and met. My father was here for his last couple of weeks and the amount of care and understanding this hospital showed was astounding. Thank you to all the friendly staff who took good care of him.
The food is very disappointing, was visiting an elderly patient and the meals were delivered cold and totally unsuitable or edible unfortunately, I was shocked as the food used to be of a high standard.
The staff are lovely, I have chronic health issues and have to come to the consultation suites often. As I'm disabled the parking is an absolute nightmare and a let down for people work disabilities, if your lucky enough to find a normal spot let alone a Disabled one you have to walk half the hospital to get to you appointment. On numerous occasions I've seen people parked in the limited Disabled spots not displaying permits, more accessible parking for elderly and those work disabilities is very badly needed at this hospital, and Disabled spots need to be wider to allow for walking aids and wheel chairs.it's disappointing that the public hospital (Frankston) caters more than adequately for Disabled but a peninsula private seems to have dropped the ball on this when planning the parking at their hospital.
The plastic surgeon is a miracle worker, professional, likeable and excellent. Thanks for excellent nursing staff who are focused, beautiful bedside manner and very caring. I can’t speak to highly of the care I received on the Hibiscus ward. Thank you most sincerely Vincent John Coleman
I was admitted in Peninsula, Private. I was in Banksia room 17 and the staff was amazing. I had Sam who was looking after me, She was the best nurse I have ever had Definitely the best experience I’ve ever had in a hospital. Highly recommend this place.
As a private hospital claiming to give best care. Why is it that the food is enough to make you sick.
Beautiful nursing and reception staff but clearly, Doctors awful. Showed up with breathing difficulties and damage to my oesophagus and larynx from vomiting. Which is causing Laryngospasm while I sleep, completely occluding my airways.
Refunded my money and told me to go to Frankston public because they don't have an ENT on site. Couldn't even prioritise my triage at Frankston. A doctor did not even speak to me let alone treat me. Surely, look, then advise. Order a scan, assess the situation, then forward me on, if necessary. I Will not be attending Frankston and should something happen. Be it on that doctors head.
I am in the hospital at the moment, I give 5 stars for my Doctors, nurses and cleaning staff. They lose 2 because the food is below standards bland no seasoning and lack of vegetables if you call frozen potato, pumpkin and mushy carrot on a plate good healthy vegetable then there is something wrong with you. Lack of healthy sandwiches if you like plastic cheese and processed ham then that’s what you get. Egg sandwiches are soggy and mixing mayo with it makes me vomit. Health doctors tell you eat healthy but here there is nothing healthy. Added a photo of my egg sandwich. And a majority of the staff delivering the meals have no manners the tray they deliver the food on is almost thrown on your on your bedside tray, then the person quickly walks out and slams the door. And most of the time won’t close the door. This hospital was once good with food Choices but not anymore and yes I know I’m not in here to just eat, but some nutrition would be good, and good aussie food not indian, Mexican that not even the elderly would eat it. Adding more after my surgery today they moved me from the room, packed up my things without my permission, and now I’m in room the size of a laundry room, I pay enough for private health insurance and they do this to you. And I thought Frankston hospital was bad but this one takes the mouldy cakes award. Maybe the person running this hospital needs to be replaced by someone that actually cares about the patients, doctors, nurses and cleaning staff. And replace the kitchen staff. I left the hospital today Friday 25/11/22 and that added meal was lastnights dinner. Potatoes bruised and inedible with mushy pumpkin and carrots that looked like it was thrown on the plate, and I did not order it. Then this morning breakfast coffee/tea round the kitchen staff was told not to serve me, but the nurse stopped her and I walked out to fill my cup with hot water. This is just disgusting and needs to be delt with. I pay for private health and this is how you are treated. I’m not the only one complaining even the staff of the hospital are fed up. I heard enough and the head honcho walking around in her high heels thinks the food isn’t important. She needs to be sacked. Worst hospital ever.
Attended emergency then was admitted Peninsula Private, to have my gallbladder removed. When you have a gallbladder issue you solely need to eat healthy food, when you are a human being you need healthy food. The food here at the hospital is beyond a joke, extremely unhealthy and disgusting. They forgot my breakfast twice over my five day stay and every time I was served breakfast it was 1x Bread dinner roll 1xPack of sugar cornflakes 1x Fruit cup in sugar fruit juice and that was it, oh except one day there was a danish sugar pastry! NOTHING FRESH NOTHING HEALTHY. They also provide NO soap for your shower, when I asked for some soap they said I would need to BYO. What a joke. I am with Australian Unity and they charged my insurance provider $4800 per night to stay at peninsula private hospital. I was here from Monday - Friday that’s $19,200 you have charged to my insurance for just the stay at not anything to do with the surgery. How’s about you take a dollar from the first night and purchase some soap for my room so I can wash myself. I even had the cleaning lady point to a packet of “wipes” and say I can use those to clean myself with. Instead what I ended up doing was pumping hand wash which located was two metres from the shower onto a face washer.
The lunch and dinner was disgusting too, whilst I was in there I head multiple people complain about the food, I voiced many times I need to eat something healthy and they simply get grumpy and dismiss you with a comment like “well that’s what we always serve”. Pull your head in Peninsula Private hospital money greedy who loves to keep the sick sicker. Basic hygiene and healthy food isn’t a privilege it’s a life necessity.
I went to emergency at Peninsula Private and the treatment I received from the start was nothing but exceptional. I was in hospital for 10 days and every nurse, doctor, physio and all other staff were kind and caring making sure I was well looked after.
We were visiting from NSW for a funeral and the hospital was close to where we were staying. To say we were grateful is a understatement. Thankyou
Dianne
Went to emergency at 3am no wait all nurses were lovely and professional doctor sorted me out quickly! Happy
This hospital is very bad so much walking as consulting suites not all together. Lifts so slow.
Made it to the doctor late just as the receptionist was leaving a message on our phone to ask if we where coming to the appointment.
Also no disabled parking and also having to pay for parking to attend a appointment.
This hospital is just out to make money.
I am sure they tradesmen are not paying to park on the lawn.
People who are on low incomes and carers should not be charged for parking it is wrong.
I hope this hospital learns how to treat people better.
I would not recommend this place they lack accessible facilities.
Not user friendly or disability accessible.
Heavy doors to open not sliding doors
My name is Scott McDonald and I would like to thank all the staff in the jacaranda ward last week starting from my terrific surgeon D Hannan to DrDavid Charlesworth but the entire nursing staff that had to put up with a patient that heavy pain killers don’t agree with they were remarkable if I could in particular thank Kylie on the night I was not coping well with her calming voice she got me through to Jacki the day I became unresponsive her professionalism was impeccable saved my life I believe through to diane and chimee putting up with me on another bad night I can’t thank you all enough I think people overlook how brilliant and selfless these nursing staff are once again sorry to go on too long but thanks guys
