Penang Alley reviews
18 Just had the most delicious laksa down a little alleyway. Felt like we could have been in Asia!
Gluten free options good for a coeliac and super accommodating team to make mum a non spicy meal. Highly recommend!
What a delight. Not traditional but delicious all the same! Wont drive through Warrnambool without stopping here.
Cosy little place located behind Liebig St. Visited back in March, food was fresh and good. Don’t expect it to be the authentic version you get back in Malaysia, but a different version suited for the locals.
Not easy to find good Malaysia food in Australia. But this is a very nice place to satisfy the craving.
Was very excited to find this place in Warrnambool. Expected too much and got disappointed. Nasi lemak and laksa tasted kinda bland and they were far from authentic. The staff was nice, though.
Owner and staff were friendly. The food was average but it was definitely not authentic and more of to cater for the locals. The type of rice for nasi lemak was incorrect and lack of flavour. The laksa noodles were pasta noodles but had a good flavour. Understand that they are more of a takeaway shop but if there are tables and benches for people to dine in, they should have at least enough number of paper cups available.
The space was intimate and nice, but the food was really average no taste, felt like it was microwaved and given to us.
Love this place
delicious veg food and charming owners in a cute environment
make a beeline whenever I’m in Warrnambool
This was delicious, we ate here after a drive and wanted somewhere quiet and little noise and it was exactly what we needed. I got the chicken Kari with extra veg and it was so homely. Highly recommend
Order Nasi Lemak with chicken Kari for take out. Not good at all, if you going to call it nasi lemak, the nasi (rice) has to have lemak in it which this one has none. Chicken kari tastes sour not even look like kari nor taste like one.for putting egg, little bit peanuts and ikan bilis other than that everything taste.
We tried the chicken and the vegetable nasi lemak. Really enjoyed it, the food was very clean and light. Definitely recommend.
It was located at the back alley, so park your car at the back of these shop lot. Very localize taste. It doesn't taste authentic but sweet and creamy. So if you don't mind, no harm to try.
Cracking Asam Laksa, did not expect to find it in an alley way in Warrnambool, very authentic
Beef rendang Nasi lemak - lack flavour, over cooked rice. Was expecting fluffy coconut rice but this was soggy and tasteless. Chilli relish was also fridge cold.
Kari noodles - tiny portion, taste really weird, soup is really diluted too
Penang asam - portion is even smaller than Kari noodles. Soup base very lack luster.
Very pricey and disappointed. Only ate to fill ourselves up. Won't be back.
Such a lovely place with really good food. So satisfied with hot and creamy laksa soup in the cold weather
We had Nasi Lemak with 1. Rendang beef and 2. Hokien spiced pork. We also ordered the popiah. The food was delicious and I found that the serving was large. The staff (I think they're the owners) were nice and seemed friendly. Date of visit: July 2022
Lovely staff and quick service, however, might’ve been the worst Laksa I have ever had. Watered down broth and no taste to the food. I had two mouthfuls and unfortunately had to throw the rest out. Not authentic and wouldn’t recommend.
Found this little hawker gem on our visit to Warnambool.
Very impressed with their Assam and Laksa … authentic, balanced and very tasty
