Service was good from the staff. Food not bad. Negatives - No actual menu to order from. Mainly barstool seating. Reason I gave one star is because when I Went to pay at the end of the bar the young fair waiter was passive aggressive and asked ME what I had (since I was busy editing a U tube video while eating) I didn't remember for sure what drinks I had and the cocky guy taking the bill made me feel like maybe I was short changing him. If your reading this bro remember, you have to give me the bill and tell me what I had, and I'll check it (not the other way around).
I wont be taking my friends here. To think I've been coming here off and on since 1989 lol.

Cute place for pasta!

A bowl of pasta is around $22 and was definitely on the soggy side. The tiramisu was quite good. It’s not top notch but is generous and hearty - which is sometimes exactly what you want.

Service is warm and efficient. The whole place has a great lively vibe to it.

No wonder this place is an institution in Melbourne! Ordered their top 3 best sellers as recommended by Hugo and we did not leave a trace We ordered a cold drink which I forgot the name of that was so refreshing! They serve generous portions and very affordable! Love the vibe of the place too.

Had a great lunch here. After reading the reviews I was really tempted to taste for myself and to be honest, I found exactly what I was coming for. No frills, homemade like food as if it was cooked by an Italian nonna (granny). I enjoyed the lasagna and the speed serving is part of the concept and that makes this place so special, it is called espresso bar for a reason.

For everyone who has been to Italy knows that these types of places are local neighborhood diamonds. I was very pleased to find this place so far away from home.

It’s a place where you go in, eat, drink, have a quick coffee and leave. The staff and owner are very accommodating and take great pride in their work, rightfully so. Their cakes are great too and self-whipped cream was on point.

Totally impressed. Packed with people - says more than any review.
Efficient, friendly and unpretentious staff. I just asked for "whatever the owner would have" and was blown away with a massive plate of spaghetti alla puttanesca (not actually on the menu, but they made it anyway!). VERY tasty.
I felt like I was in Italy.

Nice atmosphere, we are served at the bar for an absolutely huge portion of lasagna. No coffee alla nocciola. The lasagna was very lightly seasoned but still good value for money. If you're looking for an inexpensive lunch, this is the place to go.

Was once the best but now seems to rest on its laurels. Also very disappointing to see it they are against saving the lives of drug users by opposing safe injecting rooms near them

Was a pleasant reminder of my youth attending this establishment. My best friend's Mum used to whip us up authentic Italian pasta while you watched her and this is what we got at Pellegrini's. We were told to sit out the back, but you were actually in the kitchen. There was a long table there that we sat at and we were able to watch our meal as it was being prepared right in front of us. Rosanna's conversation with us and a couple of other lads was also a highlight. My Ravioli Bolognese was deliciouso.

Pellegrini’s Esperro Bar, Bourke Street, City of Melbourne. The coffee bar was set up in 1954 by Leo and Vildo Pellegrini brothers and emigrant from Italy. Classic! Arrivederci Dan Hoang from Danhthemanadventure.

Good food, great prices, amazing staff. Eat here and feel at home. Perfect after work dinner. Authentic flavours. Best pasta anywhere (and yes I have had pasta in Italy).

This is the second time we’ve come here immediately after a Covid lockdown ended. Just knowing you can’t get to an establishment like this makes it double the torture. Get here at last and IT’S SO reassuring, so comforting, like you know it would be. This is the kind of place that even on your 20th visit you’ll still be bragging to your friends, sharing pasta photos, discuss desserts etc. I’ll stop now.

Good coffee and authentic Italian dining experience in the heart of Melbourne. Comfort food and good selection of cakes too. It’s got a very ol skool feeling when you walked in to Pellegrinis and it has not changed for a very long time and it works. Friendly staff too. 8/10.

As a student who goes to the city as a school trip my group and i were delighted with how kind, friendly and comforting the place was, food was tad bit overpriced and i didnt afford buying food yet the owner said "i cannot let you leave without trying the gratitini" he passed out a free gratini drink to all of us and it tasted spectacular.
Amazing place would reccomend

Food's honestly not the *best*, but it is unique and it has heart. It's also soul-warmingly traditional.
The coffee, however, is the absolute best.
I am the fourth generation of my family to eat there

Good foods, Good vibes, perfect
Pellegrinis bar is still ALIVE!

However, last time I went there, a basidia didn’t flush a steam baffle, which is used for making form milk, every time.it was a bit unhygienic. I wish they would work with hygienic especially this time
