Payom Thai Restaurant

Food is top notch but sadly service is not, I happily waited at the counter for my take away but I was ignored by the two ladies, no greeting on arrival, I was walked passed by both and ignored as if I was invisible on many occasions
I felt like I was the enemy because I wanted to spend some money.

Not a bad thai restaurant. Convenient location on Canterbury Rd. Large restaurant with lots of seats.
Food was quite nice, especially the massaman curry & the Thai basil with prawns.
The tempura prawns weren't very good, the batter was wrong. The satay sauce on the chicken skewers was delicious.
Service was fast, friendly & efficient.
Some people say it's pricey, didn't really see it. $150 for 5 people and everyone was full.

Good food but sadly they have priced me out. There are various good Thai restaurants in the area that haven’t increased their prices like Payom. We were a table of 4.
We looked at their website before booking but their website doesn’t reflect the price increases
To top it off I got charged $2.81 to pay with my credit card.

The food here is sensational. The service was excellent, the atmosphere good, but the food was absolutely sensational - highly recommended.

Tonight’s takeaway wasn’t as impressive as I remember it sadly. Roti bread was nice and fluffy but my pad see ew lacked flavour and I actually had to add my own soy sauce to give it a lift. Still to satisfy my Thai craving

We picked up Thai takeaway for Father’s Day tonight and it was some of the yummiest I’ve tried. Despite one family member arriving near 9pm and us eating it lukewarm it was still utterly delicious. Pad Thai, massamum, cashew nut and pad see ew accompanied by coconut rice and spring rolls all really flavoursome and super tasty. I think I’ve found my new local

The food was very nice, however the servings were smaller than they used to be.

The service was very poor and slow which was surprising, given the restaurant was less than 50% full.

It took us more than an hour after ordering before we all had our main meals. These arrived over a 20 minute period after the staff were prompted

We had to prompt the staff to take our orders and again to provide more water. Even getting another drink was somewhat of a challenge.

One of our meals was ordered with chicken, however after an extraordinary wait, they brought out a pork dish and when we suggested it was ordered as a chicken dish, it took 10 minutes before Payom staff insisted that they only had an order for the dish with pork.

Good restaurant with flavoursome food, if you are not too hungry, happy to wait and don't mind subsitutions from what you ordered.

Very disappointing considering the friends who invited us there said the last time she was there many years ago it was outstanding. So not sure if it was just a bad night and I do recognise they were busy.

However I still don't think that's a good enough excuse for simple hospitality basics such as.

*Someone to provide some water for the table.
*Someone to take our order.
*Providing rice (which the 4nofnus had ordered) with the main dishes they had put on the table
*A missing order of ours, this after they delivered someone elses order to our table & asked us if we were sure we hadn't already got stuck into it (we hadn't cos it wasn't a dish one would typically eat without some rice, fortunately for them & the other customers as we were hungry & it looked like somethingwe had ordered)

All things we had to to literally sing out & try and grab a writers attention for when waiting long enough to realise it wasn't coming, unless we asked.

Not much empathy shown under the circumstances, but also not surprising considering they had a kid working which I can appreciate and support but not on a busy Saturday night. Maybe some training on quieter nights till he's ready and upskilled to handle the busier nights. Not that he was getting much support/direction from the more experienced staff who also lacked any empathy or understanding of the situation unfolding throughout the night.

Food was tasty, however very small serves compared to other Thai restaurants I've visited. So overall disappointing and I won't be returning or recommending, not when there's lots of other Thai restaurants who still provide those hospitality fundamentals, even on a busy night.

We have always liked the food at Payom Thai. However, today we were very disappointed with the drinks order. While paying the bill the staff advised that had put 3 shots of Vodka in the single drink. While ordering we just had a clarification that we didn't need any soft drink in it, but just plain 30ml single peg. So not very happy being charged $24 for 3 drink, whereas, we only ordered 1.: (

Always delicious. Unfortunately this particular night they had a few chefs out sick so there was a significant delay on our meal (take away). Even knowing the reason, some people still decided to take the opportunity to berate the poor young women who had no control over the situation and were really just keeping everyone informed as to what was happening (as well as take our order). Very disappointed in the behavior of some of the other customers. Were they aware that sounding off to these poor girls was not going to change the situation or make their food come any faster? Well done to the girls for the way they handled themselves and the situation. It's a tough gig being the messenger

We had been ordering food from Payom Thai from Uber Eats so we decided to try it in person for date night. The staff made our experience incredibly enjoyable by being polite and patient, and serving delicious food! We ordered cocktails, roti, lamb massaman curry and something else (I forget). We were too full to have dessert, but we usually get that through Uber Eats and it has been exceptional every time!

Really not impressed with Payom. Ordered delivery through Uber Eats and it’s certainly not worth the $70. Spring rolls came without any dipping sauce. Roti came without any satay sauce. Green curry is $15.90 plus $2 for ‘vegetable’ protein, so you’d expect tofu for $17.90 but it was just veggies. Pad Thai was missing a lemon wedge and peanuts. Certainly won’t be ordering from here again. Try elsewhere.

Nice food and service, although not to pick fly poo out of pepper, I did find the plates a bit cold for a Winter's night,

Great authentic food and friendly service. I have both dined in and taken out, tasty, fresh and perfect portions.

Love the duck spring rolls, curries and stir fry noodles. Consistent, Reliable, excellent service.

We had a table booked for 4 people at 7: 30 which a booked 3 days in advance. Apon arrival we were told to wait for the table. We waited around till 7: 50pm whilst the staff kept telling us the table will be finishing up and ready for us.
It's unfortunate because we are regulars and would normally by a lot of food.

If someone books a table, you reserve that table and they get that table when it's booked. Very rude.

This restaurant is located 2 mins walk from my home.

However I ordered delivery few times, they sent my order to a different place for at least 3 times. It took ages to arrive.

More importantly, the food quality was much worse then before. The dishes are totally different taste. I believe that have changed the owner and now their meal are not like this anymore.

Ordered takeaway last night and loved it! They went above and beyond to make sure we got what we wanted. Thankyou

The order for which I was there was not preparing and they even didn’t know what my order was Le and asked me to wait for 20 min, after 20 min when I asked then they told they have not got the order. So irritating and annoying. Service is worst and long queue to wait.

Came here about 6 months ago and was fantastic with bustling crowds but today the restaurant was completely empty. I think the chef and owner have changed because the food tasted quite different. Seafood combo was too sweet, stirfry basil pork had same flavour. Pad Thai was soggy with some burnt after taste and wombok was chunky cut. Though the service was friendly, the food was a disappointment and explained the reason for the emptiness.

Extremely rude staff treat arriving Uber Drivers with contempt. Little attention is paid to a driver waiting to deliver an order. As a result, orders need to be cancelled which affect the bottom line of the business and driver, not to mention, tarnish the customer experience.
