Pawn & Co reviews
44We had a fun time dancing at Grand Paradiso (the pop up summer bar inside) and the interior is really beautiful. Bar staff were all efficient and lovely. The door girl working outside and the girls taking payment for entry inside both appeared very snobby and unwelcoming despite their club being almost entirely empty when we arrived - if it were me behind the door I’d be more welcoming, especially of some of the only customers they’ve got for the night so far. I personally thought $25 entry for the place was ballsy for this venue too. I personally would be hesitant to pay it again.
One of the coolest, unique spots to go out in Chapel Street. I love this venue because it’s got a lot of really unique items on the wall you can check out before you get to drinking and dancing. The venue itself is a highlight but then again it’s not the only great thing about this place.
The staff were some of the friendliest staff ever. Ricky on security is so fun, was having a ball laughing it up with people in line and just making it such a fun vibe. The girls in at the front desk were so nice and made the whole process of getting in smooth and fun. The manager though was just the nicest person, making sure everyone was having fun, enjoying their night and all round just a great bloke.
If you’re into good music and enjoy a bit of a cross over bar/club vibe this is the place to be. Upstairs is spacious and the drinks are great. Lots of room to move between upstairs and down with two staircases, cool little unique booths, and a downstairs area to hang out. Please check this place out, it’s very worth the entry fee.
The upstairs level was overcrowded and you could not even move to dance but if it had a less few people there it would of been good. Music was a vibe though x
Definitely a go to club for people who enjoy house/techno music that is a smaller venue with more of a bar feel. Reason for 4 stars is due to some negative experiences with some of the security guards and the entry fee of $30 is quite high.
Lovely staff and security, great atmosphere and great vibes! Would recommend to anyone visiting melbourne and wanting to see the nightlife scene in chapel/prahran area.
Pawn & Co is a shop like no other from antiques and memorabilia and action figures and props for films
Bad club, terrible bar staff. Don’t hand water out in the queue. Then charge us $30 entry, just to not serve us drinks. What a waste of time and money. Shut down and leave prahran now
The bouncers are horrible people. No point trying to get in when you have to walk on egg shells around them to buy a drink or they will throw you out and abuse you. Would rather go anywhere else
Good club but absolute atrocious management. Staff are completely rude and ruin it for everyone there.
Didn't let me in because I was wearing jean shorts but let the bloke in behind me wearing shorts and the guy in line in front of us clearly vomiting. I was talking to the girl who was on the door for at least 5 minutes only for us to then wait 45 minutes in line for her to tell me I couldn't get in. Kind of ruined my birthday.
Edit: it's not the communication that's the issue it's the lack of consistency in the rules.
If you're an OG Pawn & CO goer and go out for the music, miss Pawn Saturdays. It's for the youngins and that's it. Pawn has sold out and now plays "commercialized" music for the general public. Save your entry and just go to a dj event or something.
If you don't believe me, try it for yourself ️
Terrible service from staff. Dark blonde male bartender upstairs on Thursday night refused to give me a drink, claiming I was drunk even though I came sober and it was extremely clear. Then shoved a glass of water in my face and told me that “life’s tough isn’t it”. Never going back and neither will my friends
‘Security guard’ (who was really just a promoter) was unnecessarily rude to patrons in line, forcibly removing them for extremely petty reasons such as being a bystander to an unrelated person cutting in line. Seemed to be particularly rude towards female patrons which is disgusting.
Attended pawn n co on saturday night with a booking for 8 people at 12: 30am. Upon arriving to the venue we waited for at least 30 minutes before getting in. Once we were in, no one directed us to where our booth was that we had just paid for, the upstairs area was packed and clearly overbooked.once we found the areas for the booths, we discovered there was no room for us and our alcohol had been put on another table, therefore we didn't have access to it. A friend tried to speak to a bartender about why we did not have a booth reserved for us and it ended in the bartender yelling and getting her kicked out.after asking for our money back the management who we spoke to refused.nice $400 gone to waste, won't be returning.
Male bartender in the hat in the upstairs bar on friday night was giving slow service and incredibly rude to everyone.members of our group went up to the bar separately and each got some sort of snide or nasty comment from him.it was incredibly off-putting, we left after one round.
Fusion is the name of the game when it comes to describing this place combining two elements that traditionally have not gone hand-in-hand, drinking and buying things. The venue offers guests a unique experience awesome cocktails and products to purchase ranging from furniture to taxidermy creatures. You can enjoy a casual drink downstairs or vibe away to cool sounds upstairs. Staff are super friendly and welcoming, we had a banger! Awesome service thanks
Some friendly some not: (very rude bar service, not sure what had become of it, not only to me but also others
Full of rich white and pretentious private school kids who don't know how to act. I tried to help break up a fight between two groups of girls that were throwing drinks at each other and got punched in the face by one of them. Classy. Music was disappointing at best and you also have to que up to have a smoke
My friend and I made a slight error when booking and we were subsequently charged the $50 cancellation. We called up to see if we could still attend (given the circumstances we were not expecting much) but Michael assured us that we could still come down, and we got in without any dramas whatsoever.
The way we were treated (despite us having made the silly mistake) was nothing short of amazing - both the bar staff and Michael were so kind and personable. The general atmosphere was stellar. As a non-drinker I also heavily appreciated the way the bartender accommodated for and got creative with some non-alco drinks.
Thanks heaps guys, will be back for sure!
The bloke running your line and booth booking’s has dinner plates and sadly he’s not serving us food. We waited over an hour for our booth booking and didn’t move an inch. Get better please
